    November Bypassers!!

I'm having bypass November 19th! I'm so nervous but excited at the same time! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. So I went to my info seminar after waiting 2 weeks and had to leave a few minutes later. Read the new patient form and learned there was a 750 dollar program fee. I have no way of affording that. I'm relying on my insurance to cover everything except the dietitian and maybe the psych eval but 750 dollars was too much. I feel discouraged but I'm not giving up yet. I want this too much. I called the next surgeon on my list of surgeons covered by my insurance and his dietitian charges 130 for the first visit and 100 for any other visits I'll have with them. This is more doable so I scheduled an appointment with him and the dietitian March 2nd. I want to know if the dietitian is the one you all went for your six months of supervised weight loss or did you see someone else? Also who had to pay for their psych eval and how much?
  3. So, I had my first consult with my surgeon yesterday and found out all my requirements to be approved for surgery. Besides a nutritionist visit and psych eval I have to do blood work, EKG, chest x-ray and gallbladder ultrasound, and a urine test. Insurance also requires six months of supervised weight loss and history of failed weight loss. I'm clear about everything except this. What exactly is insurance looking for for the failed weight loss?
  4. I'm trying to find a surgeon but my insurance is only giving me surgeons that are covered by Medicare, not medicaid. I've wasted this month trying to see 2 surgeons only to be told right before seeing them that they are out of network. If you're in Tampa and have Humana Medicaid have you found a surgeon yet and who is it? Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Feeling discouraged

I'm really hoping that's the case with my insurance. If I can go to my PCP for the supervised weight loss it'll help me a lot. I'm feeling less discouraged now, thank you !
  6. My insurance requires a history of failed attempts at weight loss and I'm a bit worried. I don't have any records of trying to lose weight as I've always done it on my own instead of doing weight loss programs like Weight Watchers. What exactly are they looking for? Would something like a history of recorded weight from myfitnesspal be good enough? I took a weight loss pill, Phentermine, years ago but not sure how I would prove that now. This is the only requirement I'm worried about.

    History of weight loss

Hopefully it works out this way for me but I'm putting all I can together just in case. I found the prescription my doctor gave me for the Phentermine and I have my weight log going back to 2013 that clearly shows my struggle with weight loss. Hoping this is enough if I need actual proof.
  8. When you're so excited to get things started you keep looking at your Bariatric referral and appointment reminder for your info seminar .

  9. I'm at the very beginning of my journey and I have a long way to go but I'm super excited I scheduled my info seminar for February 14th, the very first item on my checklist! I'm just excited to get this started :D

  10. Has anyone else had their PCP mail you the referral instead of sending it straight to your insurance?
  11. I just had my appointment with my PCP and she said she'd happily send a referral to my insurance for weightloss surgery. Now I just have to wait for a call to set up my first appointment with the surgeon and I'm wondering how long does this usually take? Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app
