    18 days post op here.
Is anyone else getting paranoid over the fact they can eat more now?
Yesterday was the very first day I was able to hit 500 calories and I am freaking out. I know it's illogical and I am being paranoid but I feel like it's too early for me to be able to eat that much comfortably. I know I have to eat even more in order to hit my Protein goals but as my weight loss is halting and my intake is up I am just feeling panicky.

From the title, it sounds like the most unhealthy thing ever, but it is NOT! It is the equivalent of baking sweet potatoes along with poached chicken topped with a little cheese LOL.
I bake sweet potato fries in the oven till they are crispy, I get the crinkle kind from McCain. The serving size is 3 oz (160 calories) but that's enough for two meals (if not more).
I then cook some poached and shredded chicken (no more than 2 oz) along with a few tablespoons of Buffalo wing sauce till it's nice and coated.
In a nice individual serving baking plate, I layer as follows:
1- The crispy sweet potato fries.
    2- Finely shredded sharp cheddar.
3- The chicken with its sauce.
4- Mozzarella cheese and sharp cheddar.
I broil it till the cheese melts and it's ooey gooey and golden, then drizzle with a little bit of homemade greek yogurt ranch dressing. This would be amazing with bleu cheese crumbles too.
    IT IS SO GOOD!

If it isn't making you sick, causing you to feel bad, and everything else is good after you drink it, then drink it. Your body will give you unmistakable signs if something is too much too soon. There is really no need to spend hours researching tips and guidelines.

My stall lasted about a week (started mid week 3). Sometimes my weight went up, as well. I am now mid week 4.

I feel like I don't understand my sleeve at all, some foods go down with generous amounts, and some foods make me super full from two bites.
I feel like that's why the results of the sleeve differ from person to person, it's all about the food choices we make. It's tempting to pick stuff we can eat a lot of. There in lies the trap.

Everything's been going down really smoothly and I've been cleared to eat anything I can chew down to a paste! I've had the reduced fat triscuits with some tuna, olive oil, lemon, relish and black pepper. IT WAS TO DIE FOR. I MISSED FOOD!
It took only one triscuit (I originally put in a half serving of 3 lol), and less than 2 oz of tuna. I swear I don't recognize myself anymore.

23 days post op. Yesterday I had my highest ever calorie day, a whooping 800 calories! I felt like a pig LOL, and I was eating *all day* it's surprising what it takes these days when back in the day I'd still feel hungry after 2000 calories.
I won't make a habit of it, I feel like it's too soon to be eating 800 calories, but with the introduction of new foods, eating has been way easier. I won't count but I will try to stick to 600 calories, I have years of calorie counting and weighing foods under my belt so I sort of know what it looks like.
BUT GUESS WHAT! I broke through the stall! WHOOOSH 4 pounds in one go.
Total loss of 27.5 pounds in 22 days.

I asked my surgeon "how much weight am I expected to lose?" and he said, "all the way to your goal weight".
Just because people ON AVERAGE lose 70% of their excess body weight, doesn't mean you should measure yourself up to that. Try to reach your own goals, and many people have.
I think it's because that last 30% is completely down to your food choices, and that 70% happens relatively easily.

Polymorphing got a reaction from ProudGrammy in 2 weeks post sleeve and just ate a whole pint of low cal ice cream
I truly think we are all sleeved differently because trust me, I have zero willpower, and yet I've not been tempted not a little bit by any dessert or anything sweet, or overeating. I did not stick to doctor orders out of virtue, but out of inability to do anything else. I can barely get down 300 calories a day and I'm 16 days post op. We all will have our own challenges along the way, and being mindful of our mistakes is super helpful in the beginning and you seem like you are.
That being said, if you were to have ice cream again, I recommend something with a high Protein count because it's essential for us post op. Halo top is great for that. It's basically the macros of greek yogurt

Is that what your plan recommends? It sounds soon to me for any solid food at all, never mind rice. At two weeks out, I was on liquids--didn't eat solid food until a month had passed. I know all plans are different . . .
I also wanted to disagree, politely, with the poster who said food should not be enjoyed, just seen as necessary fuel. It is fuel, certainly, but I don't see why enjoyment of the food I'm supposed to be eating is wrong. I like Cookies and know I shouldn't be eating them, but I also like cottage cheese! I enjoy eggs. As long as I'm having one or two, without the side of fried potatoes, for example, what's wrong with enjoying that? After months of not caring if I ate or not, other than the need to get Protein, I'm kind of happy to be enjoying my small, appropriately chosen meals.
Other than some sugar-free fudgesicles after surgery, I haven't had ice cream--but then, it's a big 33 degrees F here today, about as toasty as it's been for many months, and for me ice cream is definitely a warm weather treat. Fortunately, I like those fudgesicles, too.

I am still doing some pre-op clearance work and hope to be sleeved in April. I can totally appreciate those who choose to keep this a secret. Life is hard enough with out other people judging you and we have all already had enough judgement for being fat.
But I think I am going to go the other way on this one. . . . I am planning on telling EVERYONE. So far the reactions have been mixed, but the stigma of weight loss surgery will not go away if we all stay in the dark.
Me and my sleeve are out of the closet!

I've been noticing a lot of changes about myself, of course, it's easy to not desire food when you're feeling ill or unwell, but I've been feeling WONDERFUL these past couple of days and no issues in my stomach at all, yet I have this... take it or leave it attitude when it comes to food. It's so so surreal and it makes me wonder if there are people who are just, born that way, without having to be sleeved. The people I always envied, the people who do not think of every food they see as a "missed opportunity". It feels extremely natural to NOT eat, when pre-op it felt unnatural to not be munching on something. I still love food and my cookbooks and I'll always be a foodie but now I feel pretty meh about actually eating the food. As I'm healing, my desire for eating food is decreasing by the day.
Anyone else feel that way? Is it temporary? I hope not. I love food but I feel... free.

I’m still preop, but I think I understand what you’re saying and that makes total sense. It’s almost like when I quit smoking. Now the thought of having to go outside and smoke throughout he day seems SO odd and unnatural to me. When I was trying to quit though the opposite was true. Thinking about not smoking seemed like the end of the world.
This gives me a lot of hope for post op ️

I've noticed that, too. With not feeling hunger, I have to really pay attention to the clock (even set alarms sometimes) to remind myself that I *need* to eat. And even if I'm craving something in particular, if I get to the point of eating it (I'm on soft stage, so some foods have to wait), after only a couple bites I'm pretty much over it. It's so weird to me.
For example, the other night, I made a cauliflower crust pizza, and it sounded/smelled/tasted SO GOOD but I was almost sick of it (not to be confused with sick FROM it) by the time I had eaten half of a tiny slice.

LOL, it's crazy how our stats are A MATCH! We even have the same goal weight! I hope to be as successful as you are, in 10 months! I'm one of those "pretty face" fatties, and it always angered me how people told me I didn't *need* to lose weight as if having the full package was somehow not permitted.
