Well, I can't be a May-June Buddy since I was sleeved in February, but otherwise, I'm here for you! I'll be 59 in July and our heights/weights and goals are very similar. Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything I can do to help! Best wishes on your surgery and transformation! Now, I'm off to the gym!

So my surgeon thinks bypass is the best choice for me since I have bad acid reflux and heartburn. I was a little taken back but I think it will be ok...any thoughts?

I’m sure she meant off of metformin forever.

Ha, probably should have thrown in something relevant to the earlier thread.
I also have PCOS and understand how hard it is to lose weight. While getting my discharge instructions, my Dr said no more Metformin. She may have meant for the short term, but I really hope its for the long term. I won't miss that!
I'm 22 lbs down today - including the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Good luck!

Thank you both for serving, your job is equally important, you are his support person back here. You may not have a commission but you have great value and I salute you. To be the wife of a man who's keeping us safe and free is something worth your own reward or medal. You are going to succeed at this. He will be proud of you also, what a surprise you'll have, if you're smaller and fitter when he gets home. Good luck my new friend.

Wonderful advice blizair. I'm going to follow it myself. It will be a hard road for me as well but I know I can do it. Thank you.

I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this. Not everyone will be supportive, I know... but I just hate being around people like her.

From what the surgeon said in my seminar, they remove as much of the elasticity part to prevent stretching. They figured out the more you leave the greater chances of the surgery failing in time.

Just a tiny taste, you may find you don't want any more than that. I've heard a lot people say" I wanted it so bad, just 1 taste and I was through".

Hi there PCOSSUCKS. I had my procedure on February 6 after months and months of looking for information about ESG. You are definitely right that this forum can provide so much information and support for all of those in the pre and postop stage. I’d be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I remember being exactly where you are right now, looking for advice and guidance.
The procedure itself, at least for me, was not very painful at all. The recovery was quick and I would say I was “back to normal” by the evening or afternoon of the day after the procedure which I found pretty amazing. ESG does help curb your appetite tremendously but you do have to do your part as with any WLS. The further out you are the more work you have to put in but as of now, I am like 3-4 weeks out, it is doing the job. I can feel the restriction and feel full with a much smaller amount than before the ESG.
We’re here for guidance, support, or advice whenever you need it. Welcome to the group!!

I still LOVE the spices. In fact before I left hospital (I had open surgery and a 6 day stay) I was adding chilli to my yoghurt.
I had never heard of Sriracha until here - tracked some down (see how influential you people are?) and it is my new favourite!
As for salty-crunchy, @MrsGamgee, I have discovered a new thing for me - beetroot chips. Salty, crunch, and after about half a dozen, I am content. These days I seem to effortlessly stop eating before I feel stuffed. Hard to describe - I seem to sort of lose interest, even in my favourites, before I get stuffed full. A new phenomenon for me.

I was just looking at your stats and I just want to say that I am super pumped! I am 40 5’4” and around the same start weight...I have my first appointment on Monday. So glad you are doing so well! So glad I found this site. I have learned so much and it’s given me more tools to explain to skeptic family and friends about the surgery. Thanks all! [emoji1373]

Not tmi. It's good to help each other. It doesn't sound like my issue because I'm not experiencing that. Just very sharp pain.

I am 3 days post-op. Mostly the experience has been positive. Beware of gas pain, it really is excruciating when bad and pain medication won't help it. Follow the pre op diet to the letter also; it is important that your liver shrinks to avoid getting bashed around during surgery. I lost 7.5kgs (16.5lbs) in my 2 week pre op diet, it was hard but mentally prepares you for change also. I wish you the best of luck.

Not feeling sexy can really ruin a woman's sex drive. I didn't stop "using it" because I wanted to keep my husband happy, but I didn't enjoy it as much as when I felt better about myself. My sex drive has been through the roof lately! It's probably a combination of the increased energy level, the fact that even though I'm not at my ideal weight (and will definitely still need plastic surgery) I don't hate my body anymore and then this special surprise of youthful pleasure. Whatever the reason I'll take it!!

Maybe didn’t stop working but the crazy hormones will do a number on drive, so in a way it does stop.

Got your little motorcycle helmet, it might be a bumpy road before you're over. What kind of surgery are you planning? Where are you located? Are you doing at your high weight or have you already lost some? In other words tell us a little more about you. Have you planned a goal weight? And how can we help you make this weight loss journey better?
