Those look fabulous, but I know I can't be trusted with them. 12 servings --> never gonna happen!

First pic is from late June/early July around highest weight of 282.4. Second pic from today trying on clothes at 204.6. Pardon the weird face, that’s my “hmm should I get this?” face :)

I think my goal is to lose another 25-30 if I can :)

I think i said it like 3847÷8=9×8÷7÷7×5113 before but i feel like the exact same person just in a smaller package now. And not even kidding. Some small mods like i have less patience for BS... But I'm ok with the same old me.

Hi Annie! I am 3 and a half years post RNY. When I first went to my surgeon, I was SURE that I wanted to get the sleeve over bypass, but he convinced me to do the RNY. Fortunately for me, almost as soon as my insurance approved me for surgery, my surgeon had a cancellation and there was less than 30 days between that first appointment and my surgery so I had little time to be anxious. This far out, I've maintained my weight loss (over 140 pounds) and feel fantastic! My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner! It was not easy...neither surgery is, but I trusted my surgeon and couldn't be happier.

Also, as of this morning I’m at 200.8! Onederland is closer than ever! Today’s weight doesn’t count because I only count my Monday weigh ins, but still!

As I’ve mentioned before I’ve been hovering 203-207 since 2/1 (lowest in that two month period was 202.6 on 2/12, otherwise it’s been bouncing between 203.5-206.8) and after starting IF and being strict about tracking my calories I’ve lost 5.8 lbs since Monday. My period also started and I generally hold onto more weight the week or so before and then release it, so I’m guessing that combined with diet changes this week have made a difference!

Like I said it doesn’t COUNT yet and I shouldn’t have even weighed myself yet, but I’m so excited that I’m closer than I’ve ever been! I haven’t been under 200lbs since I was 12/13 years old!!!!!

Keep your fingers crossed for me that I get to have a onederland celebration soon???

I think ones motivations and expectations dictate so much of this.

I did this solely to get healthier and improve how I physically felt. I did not expect rainbows and unicorns and for this to solve every problem or insecurity I’ve ever had.

Even though I’m not to goal yet, I can honestly say mission accomplished. My health has improved drastically. I’m able to do things I wouldn’t normally have been able to or dared to do.

Like many others, I only wish I had taken this step sooner.

Best. Thing. Ever. Bloimin' hard work but boy is the payoff worth it. Everyone around me is commenting positively and I love catching sight of myself in windows etc.
Mostly I just love being free of the obsessive drive to eat (crap) food all the time. Its such a mental relief as well as physical one.

    This a million times! ^^^^^^
    I heart all of yas!
Yes, for me my only regret from this was that I didn't do it sooner...like YEARS sooner! I'm off 7 drugs!!! My high BP is in remission, so is my insulin resistance, so is my asthma, so is my BC. My average daily pain level has gone from an 8 to a 3-4. I sleep longer than 1-2 hour stretches (can now sleep 4 hours at a time). So much better!!!
I was chair bound (slept in a recliner). And couldn't stand longer than 5-10 minutes and could barely walk to the "terlet" or shower. I was so isolated and it was such a taxing thing for Mr. F.
Now I can do SO much more. I can take care of myself and my body, clean, make dinner, shop, meet with friends and am taking business meetings again. I walk 1 hour per day (sometimes more). I feel like I have a life again. The last time I weighed what I do, I was in high school.
I regret nothing other than whining so much about fear of not being covered by insurance. (Heck I don't even regret being such an obsessive ninnymuggins...

My regret is that I didn’t have gastric bypass sooner! I’ve lost 90lbs. My diabetes is gone. I feel so much healthier. I’m a normal BMI!! Yes it was a longer than anticipated recovery but so so worth it!!

Well I lost all my excess weight and more with my band. Kept it off easily for the first 6 years before regaining. Now I’m excited about my revision in Jan. Yes I am a little bit nervous and not looking forward to dumping but I know the benefits outweigh the negatives. I can’t wait to fit back into some of the clothes I have sitting in my wardrobe - yes there will be shopping done too but I already have heaps of cute stuff.
This journey is like most others. The ride isn’t always as smooth as we hope but when we reach the destination it’s so worth it.

    Yes.
I knew this was the right decision for me. I have been heavy or obese my whole life. I remember being 11 or 12 the first time I joined Weight Watchers. I have struggled my whole adult life to lose and regain the same 30 pounds over and over again.
When I changed jobs and realized I had the chance to have surgery I researched all my options and began preparing.
I have zero regrets. Now it’s true I have had no complications, but I went into surgery realizing there was a risk that is was possible, a small risk, but a risk. And I was so miserable with my life the way I was living it that I accepted that risk.
My life has changed in so many positive ways. I have more energy and stamina. I’m not constantly worrying about what I’m going to eat. I’m not worrying about what I’m going to wear, I’m choosing what to wear based on my likes and tastes. How people interact with me is different, I feel like people used to just look past me. I was in so much pain after my long shifts at work at my high weight....I used to drive home sometimes and just cry in my car. Now I can work and yes, my feet may ache a bit, but it is absolutely nothing like before.
I have about 8-9 pounds to reach my first goal weight of 199. My surgeon thinks I could reach 180. Even if I don’t lose one more pound, I consider myself a success. I have lost over 175 pounds and over 25 points off of my BMI.
I also agree there has been a lot of negative posts. If you are close to your surgery date I encourage you to stay away from them. I cruised Instagram before my surgery and was amazed at all the before and after photos of people just like me.

@AEdoesRnY I’m doing okay. I just had my psych evaluation today and it was fine. I have a few more appointments left before they can submit to insurance. I need to get moving on weight loss though. This week has been a bit of a disaster. My mom passed away quite suddenly on Sunday night, after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. I’ve pretty much thrown in the towel on trying to stay on the diet plan, which I know is NOT the right thing to do.

My surgery is on April 29th, and there are things that I've already cut out of my life, sweets, coke zero, coffee etc. One thing I promise myself is to never compare my goals and accomplishments to others. We have to be honest with ourselves and understand that weigh-loss surgery is a tool and not a miracle.

Wow, being discussed so thoroughly seems oddly unsettling (?)
@SteveT74, thanks for taking the time to write all this, I can tell you have put a lot of thought and research into your posts. As someone who to tends to lose hours reading about subjects that interest me as well as take pride in composing a well thought out essay/email/argument/post-it note, I can appreciate your efforts.
To be clear, both my nutritionist and surgeon (and while i'm at it my PCP) are satisfied with my progress so far (despite my NUT preferring that I up my calories). I'm sure they think I could be doing even better, like more calories, more exercise, more sleep, less salt, less special-occasion alcohol, less Perrier (my nemesis!) etc, but for now they are cool with what I'm doing. Come three months from now, they may advise me differently, and thats cool too...I could very well be in a different position to better address that, then.

Steve with all due respect I’m going to agree with @sillykitty . What you describe isn’t my experience. I was in ketosis (had access to massive energy stores for fuel) long before I began my 2 week liquid pre-op diet whose main purpose is to empty the liver of fat and sugar and get you into ketosis.

Because i was MO, I had all the fat and endless energy to make up any lack of exogenous dietary fat. (Remember rabbit starvation is only a thing if you are super skinny—it doesn’t apply to the obese population.)
Due to ketosis, my insulin was low so I could access those energy stores any time! I had no need to add more fat to that which existed in my food choices (the fat in my meats, seafood, poultry, eggs, cheese, avocados, nuts/seeds.
in fact, I challenge anyone to a menu dual! That’s how confident I am that I’ve been maxing the nutrition in my diet !
    Wait for it...
average cals for WEIGHTLOSS mode in the past 13 months have been 600-850 most of the time. I routinely eat about 30g total carbs, about 20 or less net carbs, 60-74g lean dense protein, and about 30-40g of fat per day.
I do take my supps faithfully. I feel good. I’m losing regularly. And satisfied. I’m on my way to goal #3.
my labs look good, my docs are very pleased, and my RD doesn’t want me to lose any more.
since being online I’ve seen countless people knuckle down with super low cal, low carb and moderate fat (low fat by your standards, but it is still about 45-50% fat by cals consumed.). They make lower than goal extremely quickly. And none that I know are stuck with maintenance calories at the 600-800 range. I personally maintain at somewhere between850-1100 cals but my metabolism was already broken pre-surgery. I don’t know what maintenance will look like for me. But most long term vets I know (3-15 years) eat well beyond 850 cals per day—most of them are either full blown low carb or carb cycle, or are athletic beasts and are metabolically flexible now.
No way can I lose at the needed rate during my honeymoon period at 800+ cals per day__low carb or otherwise. I just can’t. But I eat plenty and am satisfied.

    Just my 2 cents.

@SteveT74 I think you are making a lot of assumptions here, based on your own experience. There are a lot of different paths to success after WLS.
@ms.sss is under care by both her surgeon and a nutritionist, and they are both satisfied
And as anecdotal evidence, I was very low cal during my weight loss, many days very similar to what @ms.sss describes. I did not wreck my metabolism. I got under goal weight without intending to. I am now averaging over 1500 cals a day, and still struggling to not continue to lose. (Btw 1500 cals avg is basically eating all day, since I have a lot of restriction) Now will I be a "long term success"? I hope so, but I can't know for certain, just as you can't.
We are all so different. I would never assume that someone on a different, but medically supervised plan, is going to be unsuccessful.

    Starting weight: 282.4
    Surgery weight: 269.5 (7/30/18 - RNY)
Current weight: 206 (fluctuating between 203-206 since the beginning of February)

Seeing everyone else's stats makes me feel like a little bit of a slow poke or failure, even though generally I feel great about the work I've done and progress I've made. I share that as a reminder to not get hung up on comparing yourself with others!

Hi Annie! I’m also Annie! Wow!

I’m a little over 7 months out and I’ve lost just about 80lbs. I originally was sure I wanted the sleeve, but after researching the statistics about regain and looking at my eating patterns and how those would be impacted by sleeve vs bypass, I chose bypass. If you have any questions about the bypass experience/the first year let me know! I just wanted to say hi from a fellow Annie :)

Thank you for all the veggie suggestions! I love asparagus and green Beans but don’t make them enough, and when I do make them and other veggies I don’t put much effort/thought into how I prep them which probably contributes to me not being excited by them! Looking forward to messing around in the kitchen a bit!
