  1. I'm 3 yrs out from surgery and my weight has been stable for 2yrs. My face and neck are driving me absolutely crazy because I now look 10yrs older than I am with a turkey neck and overall sagging skin on my face. What should I know/consider before possibly getting a face and neck lift? If you had this done were you happy with the results?
  2. Ok, I haven't been on here in a long time, but I am seriously over my calcium supplement, What is your favorite? What do you hate? I'm sick of fruity flavors so if you really like one of the alternatives post it here!
  3. Hi! I'm a little over 5 weeks. What I was told was to keep protein to 70-90gm, increase complex carbohydrates, and try to get in 1000 calories a day minimum in the 1st trimester (it goes up each trimester). I never jumped on the deli meat band wagon, and honestly most meat makes me sick now. So, what I've been doing is yogurt every morning (I switched to full fat greek), 1 cup a day of beans (Navy, Great Nothern, or Black Beans), a package of the the Green Giant microwave steamers veggies, a piece of fruit (cuties, berries), cheese snack, and then dinner at the moment is up in the air depending on how I feel (my nausea is worst at night) but I try to eat fish like tilapia or salmon and then if possible some sweet potato and maybe salad. I split a lot of those up into smaller portions and am eating about every 2hrs just to keep the nausea at bay. Other good foods to add would be hard boiled eggs, spinach, avocado (I had a friend who would literally have half an avocado for lunch every day), banana and high fiber foods. If you are ok with straight dairy add a glass of milk. If grains are your thing feel free to add them but you don't need them with the beans as long as you are still eating animal products. Oh, and chocolate. I have one piece of good dark chocolate every day. And, as a side note, I have some days where nothing sounds good at all and I just have a protein shake (the orgain organic pre-made ones). Oh, one last thing, I don't know which app you are using to track you food, but I really like cronometer as you can track possible micronutrient deficiencies, and you can change the setting for how much of each nutrient you are shooting for (makes it very bariatric and pregnancy friendly). I've found that most vitamins don't cover your full need for Choline, Potassium, and Iodine so you may need to add more foods that supply those nutrients. Hope that helps!
  4. I know this is old, but I hope you are still on here and might see this. I've been through the wringer of IVF with 10+yrs of infertility. I can tell you that unfortunately IVF docs do NOT have all the answers, just educated guesses at best. If it is mitochondrial damage (not likely but possible) then consider adding the following supplements - CoQ10, PQQ, Niagen, and Pterostilbene (all can be found on Amazon). Oddly enough mito issues are actually pretty easy to fix if it's just from the stress of the weight loss surgery. If it's an inherited issue then unfortunately no amount of supplements will help.

    Anyone else anorexic?

Sounds like you've had a really rough time. Well, the food fear I completely get. I've had similar problems trying to find foods I can eat that won't make me sick. Honestly, Genepro protein powder mixed with crystal light, Oikos Triple Zero yogurt, and popcorn (of all things) are about the only things that are consistently ok for me to eat without fear. I am 100% compliant on my vitamins, and have added extra just to make sure I don't end up with deficiencies. If you need to get your calories up I would stick to slider foods - shakes made with protein powder, yogurt, avocado (if you're ok with that). Up the fat IF YOU CAN - sometimes I have a lot of problems with fat so your mileage may vary. Add in some carbs if you can, normally they make me horribly sick and I seriously feel ill just thinking about ice cream/cookies/cake. As for social situations, I go, but I eat nothing at all. It was really weird at first but it makes it easier then feeling anxiety the whole time worrying if I can eat something or if it is going to make me sick. Just keep a glass in your hand and most people don't really notice. I just don't think of food as something that is pleasurable anymore. Maybe that's for the better? I would obsess over meal plans for the week like it was some kind of special project. Now I not only don't care about food but also have to force myself to eat. I'm starting to be ok with that, it's just the way things are now. Instead of thinking about food I've gone back to school while still working full time. Staying busy helps me not overthink things and get depressed about it.

    Food Breakup?

I'm going through this as well. Prior to surgery I loved food so much that I was considering opening a restaurant, now? Meh, eating is chore, nothing tastes right, and I would honestly prefer to eat nothing instead of have to think about what to eat. It's weird. Kind of freeing but also a little depressing because my mind still remembers how good food USED to be and it's still a disappointment every time I eat. I think it just takes some getting used to.
  7. I had the exact same thing and it was an allergic reaction to the glue. Go see you doctor now. My reaction went systemic after starting out just like yours and I had hives from head to toe. They had to put me on prednisone at my 2 week appointment. You do not want to be on steroids right after this surgery, believe me. They can prescribe ointment to use topically until it get past the point of no return, at which point the only option is steroids.
