    Any mushy food phase ideas?

Sweet potatoes, squash, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat.
  3. Ooh, the goat cheese in the berries is a great idea! Yum
  4. Almost 4 weeks post op. Doing better every single day!  Monday, I start a whole new set of foods.

    What's your non-scale victory?

Two weeks out, put my “regular” bra on and didn’t need the extender. I was so excited. Also was able to wear the beautiful watch that my husband bought for me. I haven’t been able to clasp that in a couple of years now.
  6. Good Luck to all September surgery people. You’ve got this!!
  7. Almost 2 weeks post op. No smells, BO or otherwise. I do have to have injections for blood clots. 20 days of them. In my belly. I was informed of the injections. They are standard procedure with my doctor. The only difference is for how long. Hubby only had to do 10 days.

@ZeroCool. I sure hope they figure it out and you get some relief from all this pain. This whole thing is hard enough without complications! Big hug from me.

Top 3 tips for Managing Pain Post-op

Great tips!! My surgery was Monday. I was having issues with changing position in bed. I can’t lie on my back all night and my belly insides weren’t happy with flopping side to side. I don’t have a belly binder but I do have some long stretchy camisoles, not unlike Spanx but not quite that tight. I do sleep so much better when wearing that to bed at night .

    24 hours post op update!

Congratulations! It does get easier as each day passes. Less discomfort and more energy. Has the nausea passed yet?

Actually, both. Moving and changing position helps move the gas. I went to sleep in bed for about four hours, got up to pee and drink a couple of ounces if water. Settled in my recliner for a couple hours and napped. Time to pee again, drink a little then back to bed. Hopefully I can just stay in bed by weeks end. But the gas is moving and I’m getting rid of all the fluid they pumped into me. Good luck with your surgery!

Thank you! I just rolled out of bed and I feel sore today and I’m moving a little slow, but I can’t believe how fast my tummy went down. I looked nine months pregnant yesterday between the gas and fluids. So, as I’ve read it does feel a lil better each day.

Mostly just tired and gassy. They don’t let you sleep much in the hospital. Overall, I’m doing well. It’s no picnic but it’s calming down a little each day. I’m up now sitting in the recliner for the second time since I went to bed last night. I’ll sit up a bit then go back to bed for a while.

Good luck to you. Had mine yesterday (thankfully not at 5:30 am). I’m now home and sitting comfortably in my beloved recliner. You got this!

I have to agree with you on the pain. But overall not too bad today. I just took a shower and put on my own comfy clothes. I feel better already. They disconnected my IV pole so I don’t feel tethered to my bed, and now I can get some walking in and pass some of this horrific gas. I hope you feel better as the day goes on.

Good luck to you too! I hope it goes well. I am nervous and a bit scared too. My hubby had his surgery in May and I just hope mine goes as well as his did. (I thought I responded earlier but I’m not seeing it so excuse me if this is a duplicate post).

Well, tomorrow’s the big day! RNY bypass first thing in the morning Today is day three of my liquid diet. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I’m not hungry, I just want to chew something and Jello just doesn’t cut it. I was planning on sleeping the day away so tomorrow would come and I could just get this over with, but my back just isn’t going to let that happen. So, I guess I’ll try and keep busy.

I’m in the home stretch! RNY is 8/13 and my 3 day liquid diet begins Friday. In the meantime I’m making sure I have everything I’ll need (drinks/meds) on hand and stuff that my hubby can prepare for himself too. He is almost 3 months RNY postop and now it’s my turn ;)

    Maintaining weight to get approved?

I was told don’t gain any weight but don’t lose either. I just had my final weigh in and managed to stay within two lbs. of my initial weigh in. My surgery is in about 3 weeks . I can lose weight to a certain point but then it just stops. When I gain it back it brings a few lbs back with it. I need to lose over 100 lbs. Not an easy task when you have other health issues. I doubt I’m alone in this...

    3 weeks to go

My bypass is 8/13. I won’t say I’m not nervous but watching my husband shrink before my eyes is a great motivator. He had his done in May and is 50+ pounds down with minimal discomfort. Hopefully my surgery (and yours) will go just as smoothly.

    Bypass scheduled for Aug 6

Hi there! My gastric bypass is August 13th. My hubby went first (April) so I've got a pretty good idea what I'm in for. His recovery has been pretty uneventful. I just want it over and done with and hope mine goes just as smoothly.
