JanineVSG got a reaction from ValJean in Disgust about starting weight
This is just a little rant about my number one pet peeve....
People mentioning their starting weight and talking about how disgusting it is really bugs me. Like, when people are saying they started at 250 lbs and putting a shocked or vomiting emoji (😱🤢) or whatever.
I get that it was a lot of weight to you. But a lot of us have starting weights of 400+ lbs. It would be a DREAM for me to weigh 250 lbs!! I haven't weighed that much since I was probably 17!
I know that this has like absolutely no real effect on our journeys, but it was bugging me. And what's a rant and raves forum for if not posts like this one?
Be nice to yourselves!! You had feelings at your SW too! Don't put yourselves down! Let's keep working hard!

43 pounds is great! Don’t lose heart. For me I find Premier Protein shakes, Atkins bars, babybel lite cheese and Dannie Greek yogurt easy to always have on hand or in the car. For more meal foods, Soup with extra chicken added, Trader Joe’s “zucchini fritters” basically an egg and vegetable frittata, grilled chicken and Beans from my local Mexican place. Trader Joe’s has some good low carb ready foods. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

I get that some people may not feel comfortable sharing weight loss or other personal details, but for the love of all that is holy if you are commenting as someone who claims to have had your surgery a year ago your profile should not say "Pre-Op."

LOSE........what we hope happens to our fat. We want to lose it.
LOOSE.....how our clothes fit after we LOSE some weight. My pants are loose. The neighbor's dog is loose. The only way I could loose fat, is if I thew a can of Crisco out the door...and I'm guessing it would still be pretty contained as it isn't very ambulatory.

I know...I know...spelling isn't an indication of intelligence. It's not a big deal. We all make a million spelling errors. Myself included.
    Just ranting.
    Lose....when something is gone.
    Loose...your butt with diarrhea.
    Lose....when you don't win.
Loose...when you're friendlier in the sack than you oughtta be.
    Lose....your car keys.
    Loose....your kid's baby teeth.

I'm sorry. Thank you. I feel better.

You're right! I just went to hibachi earlier and got a side order of just salmon... the waiter was like, "What? You know that doesn't come with rice or vegetables or anything right?" Like, yeah, I know, I'm aware! 😂 I even was able to box up half of it and take it home. I actually like going out to eat, because I like getting leftovers and being able to munch on them for a few days. My husband has even gotten into this habit, too, so he's losing weight as well!

Anyway, to answer your question -- try to order "a la carte" if you're able. Or, get a meal that's Protein based and ask for substitutions. For example, the other day I went out to eat and ordered a citrus chicken breast served over rice with one side. I asked for creamed spinach instead of rice and got a side salad. Ate a few bites of chicken, ate my salad, and boxed the rest up to take home! I got 2 more meals out of it. Just look over the menu carefully and see what can heat up well, like you mentioned.

That's an awesome idea... I'm always looking for ways to cut waste out of my life, so bringing my own containers would be great for that. Thanks for the tip!!!

That's so crazy. Not wanting people to publish their Before and Afters?? That's insanity! We all have to work hard, no matter where we started. Some of us have to work a little longer, still, but the journey is still hard... there's just no pleasing some people!

I am not sure I have any worthwhile advice, but I just wanted to let you know that I hear your struggle and I hope things get better for you. Stay the course; 2 weeks will fly by in no time at all. If you feel like you're not getting enough support from your spouse (which it sounds like you aren't), just know you can always find support on this forum.

JanineVSG got a reaction from vsg_Charly in Calculating total weight loss
I track all my weight on this Epic Weightloss Spreadsheet from Reddit. It requires a little bit of an understanding of Google Documents in order to use it correctly, but I am very visually oriented and I like seeing the graph. I also like that it has a space to put notes on your day (I use it to track my pants sizes as they go down, lol)
As for numbers, I calculate total lost from my absolute highest weight recorded at a doctor's office (I'm sure I weighed more at one point) and also calculate how much lost since surgery.

Janine - well, it's good to feel those muscles! I'm off to the gym tomorrow morning for another hour... Looking forward to it.
I do have some photos of "before"... and did start taking photos every 2 weeks in the same set of shorts and t shirt so I can see the difference. Will have to start taking photos of me in social situations as well!

It's such a great feeling to be able to do 1+ hours in the gym and feel good, not tired or over-sore. It really shows that we are making progress and getting fitter!!!
I'll be careful with cold Water and gym!!! Not a good feeling.
Maybe I should start to take photos. I'm definitely wearing nicer clothes - have gone down nearly 2 sizes - and it shows now in my face and body. I've had to give away the first batch of clothes which is such a great feeling!!!
