I hope to give you a bit of encouragement here. I experienced the same thing and was very disappointed, thinking my big investment and journey wasn’t going to work with me. The stalls so early on were frustrating and I was doing everything right too. Well guess what? That passed and now I’m losing a pound about every 3-5 days, just doing the same thing. Protein first, keeping calories and carbs low. Slow and steady - It’s working now! My surgery was June 4 and I’ve lost 38 pounds since my high weight, 26 pounds since surgery. Hang in there and keep doing it. Also google and read up on the “whoosh effect”.

I was getting disappointed by my slow weight loss, but finally the scale is moving slow and steady. Surgery on 6/4. Have lost a total of 20 pounds since surgery and a total of 30 pounds since the start of the pre-op diet. I decided to be happy about this! I’m staying around 800 calories per day. My doctor is pleased with my progress, but said to focus on the Protein first and not so much the calories.

    My current stats
    Surgery June 4 (5 weeks)
    HW 272
    SW 258
    CW 243
    GW 170
Disappointed in the pace of my weight loss progress although my clothes are loose and I feel great. Just thought the first few months would be more dramatic. I’ve had several stalls. I’m keeping up my daily Protein intake ~80 grams/day and staying at ~800 calories per day too. Tracking everything on My Fitness Pal. Walking several times a week, but not daily. Getting 8 hours sleep too. I guess it’s going to be slow for me, but I’m committed for the journey.

I had a stall for a few days at the 2 week mark. I upped my Fluid intake and started losing again.

I now add some Decaf coffee in small amount to my Premier Protein - with ice in a glass. It’s really good. With vanilla it tastes like a Cappuccino. With chocolate it’s a mocha. Try it!

I’m on Day #2 post op. Came home yesterday. Sipping Water and Protein Drink. No nausea. Walking a little on my block 2 times today. Taking 5 ml liquid OxyContin for pain. My surgical abdominal pain makes it hard to get up and down. I can’t get out of bed by myself at all. My abdominal muscles just aren’t working at all. Surgical gas in my chest improving. All in all, I’m doing as well as I expected so far.

Frustr8 - So funny! I went to the pharmacy today to get stool softeners & injections for post surgery- I’m 62 so injections are to prevent blood clots b cause I’m lan older patient!l But as I walked around I saw MANY MORBIDLY OBESE people mostly way younger than me. And all I could that knew of was why am I doing this?? Got me really scared! Like, hey if they’re okay with their bodies, why can’t I just accept my 250 Lb 5’2” body!?!? Well I think I’d rather give this a try than have have toes amputated from neuropathy! And the Long Term Care Insurance I was denied for and my husband got!? I want to spend that time with him! I admit, I’m not as scared of surgery as I am of totally screwing this whole eating thing up but I have to do this! And it’s really the first really big thing I’ve ever done for me! Surgery is June 5th - 36 hours away!! I’m freaking but hopeful! Last chance!! Hope I don’t run out of the OR screamed mg!😱

As for nausea, my doctor ordered a scopolamine patch. I’m supposed to put it on behind my ear the night before surgery. I also filled a bunch of prescriptions that I’m supposed to have at home for after the surgery - meds for nausea, Constipation, etc. all in liquids or crushable form for post surgery.

Woohooo....one week from today!! I've lost 6 pounds on my pre-op diet so far. It's getting slightly better - although I've elected to add 1-2 hardboiled eggs every day. My husband is shaking his finger at me and scolds me to follow the diet exactly like my doctor says. I guess I'm a bit of a rebel. The idea is to have low calorie, low to no carbs, no/low sugar, no/low fat while also getting your Protein. Somehow for me, having the extra eggs has helped. I'm drinking my Protein Drinks but I'm not loving them. Not hating them, just not loving them. I have Premier Protein chocolate and banana, plus Unjury chocolate that I mix with Fairlife Milk. I'm also allowed to have yogurt as long as the sugar content is less than 10 grams. The Yoplait Greek 100 is really delicious. I can also have cottage cheese, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, sugar free popsicles. And I'm even allowed to have one serving of oatmeal, cream of wheat or grits once a day. Kind of a strange menu. Oh and lots of Water. I have already switched over to Decaf coffee completely. Not too bad. Headaches for a couple days. I've been religious about sugar = have had none. So I don't feel bad about adding in my eggs

OMG I am sure this is going to be an issue for me. My surgery is in one week (June 4). I can't imagine how I'm going to survive 2 weeks of liquids. Hoping the sleeve itself takes away those hunger pangs. Observing all the before/after pictures of successful VSG folks makes me realize the weight doesn't come off easily. So I'm inspired by those who went before me and they made it, and so will you and I!!

Ditto. It’s been tough. I’ve cheated a couple times so far on my pre-op diet by having a hard boiled egg every day How bad can that be?! Low calorie, Protein, no sugar. I’m drinking the Protein Drinks too but the extra egg has helped. I hope the Bariatric police don’t bust me. 9 days to go. Trying to stay the course.
