I've got vascular reflux...a nasty little situation where leaky vein valves can cause edema and crappy circulation in my lower legs.
Probably the thing I most love about my recent weight loss....other than my stellar labs and being off almost all my meds.....is my feet and ankles.
My calves used to have horrible pitted edema. Like...stick your thumb on my shin for a minute... and it would leave a dent you could put a grape in. Was pretty ghastly.
I was a prime candidate for lymphedema legs, cellulitis, and lots of other problems. My legs hurt all the time. If I was on my feet too much, my ankles would be tree trunks, and my feet would swell to where the tops would dome up where you tie your shoes and be mushy edema...and my toes would kinda poke out from under the dome. It looked awful. It hurt. It made wearing shoes a pain in the arse to get a workable fit. And I thought I was stuck with it forever:)
Ever since I hit about 220...my feet have been gorgeous. No more domes. You can see the little tendons working when I wiggle my toes again. My ankles look like ankles...not cankles. There's very little edema in my legs now and i couldn't be more grateful.
I just ordered some sandals and got a bunch of colors of toe nail polish.
My feets are coming out:) They're pretty average feet, really....but I think they're gorgeous.
If you've got lower leg edema....you're gonna be so happy when this happens for you.
Love, love, loving my new feets and ankles!

Duchess Angie reacted to ShelbyMoore in Surgery 10/23 - Now on day 3 - my experience
I’m not going to sugar coat anything. My surgery was Monday and today is Thursday. While I was in the hopital I felt great. The staff controlled everything I might be feeling through IV medications. My surgeon visited me the morning after my surgery and asked if I wanted to go home. I did because I was feeling great. BUT, after I got home and all the pain and nausea medications wore off I felt miserable. They gave me liquid pain meds but I couldn’t keep them down. I couldn’t keep Water down. As soon as anything touched my mouth I began dry heaving. I continued to try sipping but it was horrible. My stomach was bloated and felt like it was full of Fluid. I phoned the surgery nurse and she had me send her photos of my stomach. She suggested I keep walking (which is hard when you feel so nauseous) but I did it. So day 2 was a really difficult day.
Day 3, today, I feel a little better. I’m keeping up better on my nausea medication. Keeping the nausea down is helping me keep water down. I was on Clear Liquids for just 2 days and today I get to add my Protein Shakes. So far I’ve gotten down 1/4 of a premade premiere Protein Shake. The nurse phoned me a little bit ago and asked how I was feeling. She wants me to track how many oz of liquid I’m getting in. Yesterday I was so sick I didn’t track anything. But I’ll track better today. The nurse asked that I try to get 2 Protein shakes in today. She told me again to walk around, even if I do circles in my backyard. My stomach is less bloated than yesterday but still has some bloating. When I walk I have to hold my stomach. I have overall muscle aches, just like when you have the flu. I have no fever. I had minimal gas pains which resolved before I left the hospital.
It seems most posts I read others have done so much better. I find this process very difficult but I’m keeping focused on the long term goal. I hope others are doing well.

Duchess Angie reacted to KrystalRose in Having Gastric Sleeve and I’m scared!
Hello everyone. I’m having my surgery for gastric sleeve on Jan 30th and i am absolutely terrified ! I’ve been going through the process for about 5 months now so I thought I would be prepared but now that the date it approaching I’m so scared!! I know it’s normal to feel scared about any kind of surgery. I guess I’m worried about feeling any kind of pain. I’ve heard of the gas pains you can get after surgery. I just want to get the actual surgery over with! I’m excited for the results down the line though I’m 5’4 and starting weight is 235lbs. I am 22 years young and I wanna live my life! My weight has definitely prevented me from doing so many things so of course I am excited to get sleeved. Just nervous about having the surgery. Thank you all for reading and any comments are welcomed but please be kind to one another ❤️ Would love some support and to hear anyone else’s stories.

You'll never feel the way you use to... And it's kinda the point .
You'll have to exercise longer to feel winded
You'll forget why you used to over eat
You'll finally start peeking on the juniors size side of the store (oops that's me)
You'll start arguing with food labels questioning why so much sugar (seriously why? It's just yogurt)
You'll take way too many selfies from all your new found good angles
You'll forget what being heavy feels like
You may even forget you ever felt any regrets...
