I used to take the ProCare Multivitamin with Iron chewable, but it was messing with me big time. I would chew the tablet and then within minutes start sneezing. One time, the sneezing stopped and I threw up the Vitamin.

I have purchased the same in capsule form. Will start taking that on Wednesday when I am cleared for capsules.

Most other pills, Depakote, Lisinopril and Atorvastatin, go down fine. Depakote burns sometimes so I have to eat cottage cheese or something.

    Hi everybody!

Sleeved on 6/7 and all went well. The Hospital gave me my regular Depakote tablet and things did not go well. So I am taking the liquid version and it works like a charm. I would highly recommend it to anybody who takes Depakote... The pill is hard to swallow

I wonder how Depakote does for RnY bypasses? I take it for Migraines not seizures.😩💥

RN not patient, but depakote comes in liquid and sprinkle caps.
The sprinkle caps are capsules that can be opened and put into applesauce/pudding to take.
I don't remember all of the doses available, but you should be able to find the right combo to add up to your dose.
Nothing about this process is easy. Keep asking questions here and of your surgical team. Your surgeon may have already dealt with this issue.

I added chicken broth whenever I got light headed. It seemed to help. My doctor said it was better to up my Protein and than to become dehydrated and weak.

Okay random question here... Am I the only one who hears, "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard" when I make my Breakfast (protein shake)? [emoji1] maybe it's just the PB2 powder!

I’m 2 days out of my sleeve. And the head games are real.

I find myself wanting to be hungry. It’s a really weird feeling. It’s also really strange to mix a Premier Protein with some espresso and have it last for 3 hours.

I want to want to tear up a Chinese buffet. Or I want to want to eat a tomahawk ribeye. But I don’t want to.

I don’t know if that makes sense. I’m also sore, thirsty and can’t sleep.

    Wish you well.

I started my liquid diet on May 24th. It's going okay except that I am really tired. May 25th was my pre-op appointment with my surgeon and testing at the hospital. I got home about 11:30 and took a two-hour nap. Today is Saturday and even after a good night sleep, I took another nap today. Just not a lot of energy. Hope your day goes well

Regarding caffeine, I believe it really depends on your surgeon and program. I don't have to avoid it, but I should limit my intake to 1-2 cups a day (including tea). Since I have a 2-week liquid diet where I am not allowed anything else beside veggies, I will most definetely keep my morning coffee for the sake of my sanity

Surgery date 6/11/18. I am in the tell everyone category as well, but respect other peoples choices to keep it private. I have today off for, lab, EKG, Chest X-Ray, and the much anticipated but dreaded nutrition appointment. So of course I woke up before the alarm went off. Husband is making an appointment today as well, he has COPD among other things and has finally admitted to feeling fatigued. It may be time for oxygen (at least at night). If my 3 kids and 47 years on this Earth have taught me anything, it is that if you don't take care of yourself, you cannot take care of everyone else.
I am a little anxious about the EKG. I have never had one and everyone on my Mom's side is obese and died of heart attacks in the age 50-65 range. Dad's side is obese too, but the women and him seem to have a magical longevity gene. He says we don't know about the men (except him) because they all died doing stupid stuff like getting shot. He will be 79 in June.

Hi everyone I started my journey back in November. Saw a nutritionist who referred me to my surgeon. I’ve done three visits with a dietician, a psychiatric evaluation, a sleep study, two surgery seminars (two-hour long orientations that go into every detail about lifestyle changes and surgery options), and i finally got a surgery date!!

Surgery June 13, pre ops June 5th (one with the surgeon, one with a bariatric nutritionist, and one with the hospital). I guess they want you to be REALLY prepared.

I’ve been overweight my whole life but really let myself go in the last five years. Im 5’2” and my highest weight was 260. I’ve lost 40 lbs since then. I took the phentermine prescribed by my nutritionist for a few months, but didn’t like how it made me feel so stopped. It did help me lose about 20 lbs.

Ive made huge changes to my diet and started going on 30 minute walks every day during my lunch hour. I recently added ankle weights to help build muscle. I’m tracking caloric intake carefully, as well as closely monitoring my Protein, fat and carb intake. I have been trying to sip Water to prepare for after surgery but am finding it challenging. Another thing I HATE is chewing my food thirty times. I don’t know why but that’s been a tough adjustment.

I’ve started taking hair skin and nail gummies to prevent Hair loss post op, and I’ve purchased some bariatric chew Vitamins for after surgery as well.

I only need to be on Clear Liquids for two days before surgery and I get two weeks off work.

Anyway, good luck to everyone on this journey! I’m sure we are all nervous and excited and ready to feel good about ourselves again.
