  1. I have been walking around pretty discouraged so it was so odd that these popped up in my mail today. Nothing comes without a price so I guess just keep that in mind. I really don't think this is a good time for me to really give advice on this. It seems like it was easier for those that didn't have the band first. Anyway, it sounds like X ray girl has had a great experience so look to her for answers. Wish you the best.

  2. Sally, so they are doing it in two procedures? When I had mine done he did the removal and the sleeve at the same time, wonder why they changed it? Good luck to you.

Funny thing about your story, I was camping with a lady who had weight loss surgery and then had a seizure right in front of me, and it was potassium. Was that you? I cant remember the ladys name but she was a friend of my sister, Betsy and another friend, Holly.

  3. My bezoar was removed laproscopically. I just hope it never comes back. I had a leak after and was in the hospital a long time.

So what is the plan Vampy? I am just wondering what your doctor is going to do. I would not want that thing trying to move out of my pyloris valve. That will be painful.

What a mess. Please keep us updated. I am worried about how you/your doctor are going to get it out.

  4. I just had a bezoar removed that formed after gastric sleeve surgery. I had nausea and vomiting for some time but did not seek medical assistance until after I was completely obstructed and did not keep any thing down, even liquids. After the bezoar was removed one of the stitches let go and I had a leak. It was and is a long recovery, but I think it will be a full recovery. Mentally I am afraid every day. It will take me some time to mentally recover.

    HI everyone!

After 6 months trouble-free since being sleeved, maybe I was getting a little too cocky? 5 days ago, feeling fine, I ate half of a fresh coconut. I ate slowly, chewed well, and stopped long before I had any discomfort & went about my business. I have not been able to hold anything down since then!

For the first 2 days, I was in agonizing stomach pain & vomiting everything I tried to eat or drink. I felt like I had a rock in my stomach. The following day I felt better but kept to liquids just to be safe & everything was fine other than still feeling like there was a lump in my stomach. The day after that (yesterday) I tried to have some chili & got about 3 spoons into my stomach before I felt nauseous again. The vomiting resumed with a vengeance.

So last night I elected to do a barium study on myself (lucky to have access to radiology at work!) and after 5 hours there was still a perfectly round mass in my stomach that the barium was stuck to. Showed this to my doctor this AM & he sent me for endoscopy. He said I had a bezoar, which is a concretion of undigestible material in my stomach, basically from the cellulose Fiber of the coconut.

The endoscopist is telling me that this is a common finding in people who have had gastric surgery. This is the first time I've heard anything about it!!! Has anyone else had this experience? Can anyone provide me with a list of foods I should avoid, so I don't have to go through this again? I asked my doc, but he basically just said coconut, pumpkin seeds, and celery. There has got to be more to it than that!

Any advice or input is appreciated! Thanks, y'all!

    Natalie

Hi Rain, I hear you look great!!! Congratulations. I havent been on much because every time I say something someone else rips my response apart. I figured why waste my time.

I am dropping slowly, never had a gain yet but only down about 35 pounds.

Take care, hope to see you soon.

  6. Ever since my surgery my sleep schedule is so off! Probally due to the naps! I am trying to all my liquids in but its so darn hard somedays! I dont really have a ton of pain abd thats kinda bad because then i try to do too much and i get exhausted! Did anyone else have the hiccups after surgery? i have had them 2 times, and im not drinking too fast im doing what they tell you too....Jello=bad it just made me want to throw up. i never did like it too much before. I go for my 1 week follow up on tuesday

It has been almost a year since my band and I hiccup everytime I eat too fast.

  7. I have BC/BS and i got my approvl letter. Had my surgery in Feb of 09. I paid $1000 for co-pay. Now i get a bill for nearly 27,000!!! I've called the hospital, and now dealing with insurance co. so far, there are no new sumbited charges. Noone will tell me anything. ....any suggestions

dont panic, I had my surgery in July of 2008 and it is still not paid for and I have two insurances. And the 27K is only for the surgery, that does not include the surgeon fee.

  8. Can anyone tell me If New York Medicaid covers this surgery. I have tried many diets, exercise daily and still i am at a platto, and i can't get my weight down. I'm tired all the time and i just feel BLAH!!!

Of course medicaid pays for it. It is our insurances that dont pay.

  9. Bugs, don't do anything without being told by the doctor. Don't worry you will have time to have things done before surgery. All the cortisol test involves is picking up a container one day, using it for 24 hours, and taking it back the next day. You will receive a script for any test needed.

Oh, sorry Bugs, I thought you said you already had a script for the cortisol test. My mistake. You cant have it done without the script from the clinic anyway, but you do have to have it before surgery.
