    Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

So happy to hear so many are having so much success! I am having a rough couple of days and have gained 1.5 lbs back. I was sleeved on 12/7/17 and am down 41 lbs since then and lost 15 lbs in the two weeks on the horrid protein diet two weeks before surgery. So all told I am down 56 lbs. since Thanksgiving night. Oops wrong now it’s 54.5 lbs. ☹️ Things started going wrong three days ago during a blizzard. I had my granddaughter here and she wanted to make cookies! Well I should have known better. I cannot be trusted to be alone with a cookie, pie or cake. I figured I have been doing great, and I had been a cookie or two won’t hurt me. Wrong wrong wrong. They call to me and down they went. Now I need to get back on track and really could use some support!

Nothing to be worried about. Only good will come of it in the end. Had the sleeve on 12/7 and yes the first day was kind of rough for a while but once the anesthesia and gas are under control things get much better. Walk as much as you can after. It helps get everything moving after surgery. Make sure to drink drink and drink some more. It feels and sounds funny but it is all for good. Every day gets better just try and stay positive and it makes everything so much better! I give you lots of props for being on the liquid pre op diet for so long. It was all I could do to keep with it for two weeks. But I did and things are definitely going well now. I gained 4 pounds while in the hospital due to all the fluids that I was getting then lost those four as well as plus I believe 8.4 more. So 12.4 in the 5 Days since surgery. You can do it and If you are like me you probably wish you did it a long time ago. Sending you lots of good thoughts vibes and prayers be well T
  3. Hi Patricia Looks like you are two days ahead of me. I too can't wait for this all to be over. I have two sisters who have had VSG in the last 15 months. I can't believe how different our pre op has been. We have all gone to three different programs in the Boston area. One sister had no pre op diet. Just clear liquids the day before. The other sister had to loose 10 lbs before surgery and did protein drinks and lean cuisine meals for a week. I have been on protein meal replacement shAkes for 12 days now with two days left to go. I will not miss cream of chicken soup or broccoli cheddar soup or hot cocoa protein shakes! There names are just a suggestion I have learned! I have seen both sisters do incredibly well after surgery. One has lost over 100 lbs in 15 months and the second has lost 75 lbs in 6 months. They are feeling great and are what keeps me going when this all seems too much. Hope everything goes smoothly and you are on your feet and shrinking soon Be well T

Hi All I am having surgery Dec7. I would love to connect with a buddy during this whole process! Looking forward to chatting soon
  5. I am for days away from surgery and am having trouble with constipation. I have used benefiber as well as Colace but haven’t had a bowel movement in 6 Days. I am on a liquid diet of 600-700 calories a day. Yet today I gained 2 lbs. could this be due to constipation?
  6. I am scheduled for surgery on Dec 7 also and would love to have someone to "compare notes with " if you will. Are you on a liquid diet? I am 8 days in and today has been the hardest day yet! Tough just dealing with the chalky shakes and really need to crunch something!

    Why is it a secret?

i have decided not to tell people about my surgery also. In the past six years I have had both breast cancer and thyroid cancer. You would be amazed at what people think is ok to say to someone going through cancer. So I don't want the unwanted advise from people about this surgery. everyone seems to have an opinion on and I have chosen to listen only to my close family. It is going to be very tough trying to work around Christmas Dinner however. Still trying to figure out how I can be there with thirty people and be the only one not eating!
