I am. I just got my approval on Friday.

I just got approved today. Still waiting on my date but I was told most likely it will be the last week in January [emoji1487]

I just left my last monitored visit for my surgery. It has been a LONG 6 months. I was told that my doctor would send my recommendation letter in and everything will be sent to the insurance company. I hope to at least have a surgery date soon. I’m nervous that due to the holidays that I won’t get an approval from the insurance. Anyone else in this position? I AM SO EXCITED

Thanks for the encouragement. They never gave me an estimated time frame. My biggest issue is getting the hospital to respond to my emails letting me know that they have received everything. I would love to meet with the surgeon to get a date because I know he will be out for the holidays. I'm sure it will be in January but I need an exact date to tell my job. Being that I am an accountant, the beginning of the year can be very hectic. I want to make sure I am not over doing it. BTW, Good Luck on your surgery this morning. I pray you have a smooth recovery.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My patience is thin as well. I have one last visit and I will still have to wait for the approval. This process is dragging along.

I was told to wear compression shirts. They help a lot.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent a lot of loose saggy skin before and after surgery? I want to prepare myself because I know that I won’t be able to work out for a certain amount of time after the surgery. I heard compression shirts are great to start wearing now. Any other ideas?

That was a great turnaround!!!! I think I’m more nervous at the fact that loosing weight wasn’t a requirement but because I did, that would cause them to deny me. Also my last visit is close to the holiday so I hope I get an approval same day like you did. Thanks for your response. Congrats on your journey and approval

After months of googling information, I finally decided to join this forum [emoji847]. I am soooooooooo excited but very nervous bout getting the gastric bypass. I have Anthem BSBC and it requires 6 months of consecutive weigh-in attempts with my PCP. I am nervous because last month I actually gained 5lbs. Although they said I did not have to lose any weight throughout those visits, I'm afraid that will give them a reason to deny me. Can someone with Anthem insurance let me know how long it took to receive an approval? Was the process smooth for you? My patient advocate said she would send the paper work in as soon as I get the last weight attempt sheet faxed over. I really want to get approved so I can go ahead and have the surgery in January.

Hi All, I have 2 weeks left before my last PCP visit and my patient advocate will send in my paperwork to insurance for approval. I know my surgeon will be Dr Wagner. How is he? How was your hospital stay? Did they make you walk after surgery? When I first met him, he wasn't as sociable. I asked his opinion on which surgery he thought was best for me based on my weight and he really didn't give an opinion. I understand its my decision but it wouldn't hurt to give a suggestion. Other than that, he seems like a cool guy.
