  1. I had my surgery Dec 14th. I had a slightly similar issue. I was throwing up blood every time I tried to drink something or suck on ice. I was in the hospital for 5 days. It stared as fresh blood and on day 4 it was brown and kinda chunky like old blood. Then it stopped and I was able to keep liquids down. I was told that some times that can happen. My blood sugar rose super high, that I needed insulin. I was on meds for nausea, my lungs were choppy that I had to take breathing treatments. I had none of those issues prior to surgery. Thank goodness on the 5th day it was like everything went away. I’m sure you will be okay in a day or so. The good thing is you are at the hospital and can be monitored.

I’m feeling negative energy and this isn’t what I’m here for. I guess this forum isn’t what I was hoping for. This is hard for all of us. We all have our own battle that we deal with daily that may have us 2 seconds from eating an entire box of chocolates. I only want to have good energy and give good energy. I want to give support and encouragement. If can’t do the same I feel so sorry for you. I appreciate you@AshAsh1 and thanks for the link I learned something new today!

AshAsh1 thank you for the helpful and encouraging words. I kinda felt the way you just expressed but I wasn't sure if I was being overly sensitive..

    Angry with myself

Hi insul817, my doctor had me on a 3 week liquid diet and I was doing pretty well. I had been having headaches and I called and spoke with the nurse. She told me to try a different meal replacement shake. So I did that. She also told me to take some Tylenol. Now that I wasn't going to do. I don't like taking any type of pain meds. I was talking to my mom telling her how I felt and she said just eat something you may have a hunger headache. She said protein only no sweets or chips. I debated for hours if I should eat something. But after being hunched over and having a headache since starting my shakes on November 21, I ate some chicken. I felt so bad but my head ache stopped. Kat410 , thank you as well. And I believe you are correct. I have been telling myself that not eating and wanting food is a mental thing. So I try to do my daily pep talk to myself. But unfortunately it wasn't working for me yesterday with that headache. I'm going to stay positive and not think the worst. Thank you two I appreciate your helpful words.

Yes I am a mom so I cook meals every other day for my teenage child. So I weigh food and put them in Tupperware containers so that he has the correct portion. That’s how I knew it was 2 ounces. But thanks for the advice.
  8. Today was such a horrible day for me. I started my liquid diet the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I had been doing fine until today. I had 2 ounces of grilled chicken breast. I’m so devastated. I don’t know how this is going to affect me. My surgery is next Thursday the 14th. I’m so angry with myself right now.

    Pre Op diet

This is only day three for me. So I started my shakes I’m fine so far. I went to the grocery store with a friend who has also had the surgery and she was the one who mentioned her diet and she mention all the things she could have and I’m like are you sure. So that’s why I was curious about others and their pre-op diet’s. My surgeon wants me to do the shakes for three weeks and the day before my surgery stop the shakes and do clear liquids for that one day. Good luck with your surgery and thanks so much!
  10. I’m scheduled to have my surgery December 14. My doctor put me on a three week meal replacement shake diet and raw vegetables only if you feel yourself getting hungry. I’ve watched so many videos and read so many articles about the pre-op diet. Everything that I’ve seen or read was for a two week diet. I have not seen a three-week anywhere. The two week diets also included sugarfree Popsicles sugar-free Jell-O cream of anything soup. Mine doesn’t include any of that. I don’t know why my doctor is so strict with the diet. Would anyone happen to know why? Or has anyone else doctor put them on the same three week liquid only diet?
