Vegan or not Vegan? That is the question.

    Would cricket powder be vegan?

Five days post op-can I try creamed soups?

I know this isn't your doctor's instructions which you should always follow but it may give you some guidance about soup until you can check with your doctor or nutritionist. http://drjalil.com/post-op-diets/Post-Op_Diet_Phase_II.pdf

Five days post op-can I try creamed soups?

Does your post op diet instruction specify clear fluids at this point or just fluids in general?

    5.5 weeks, 40 days Post-op

28lb in the first five weeks is quite a bit. How much did you expect to lose? What was your start weight? Don't forget your body is possibly still carrying some fluid while in recovery mode. There are going to a lot of stalls along the way, you had best get use to them. Stalls are a normal part of weight loss with or without WLS. You keep on doing what you are doing, occasionally things may need shaking up though. It seems typically to have a stall after about three or four weeks if past forum posts are anything to go by.

    Bitchy grammar rant

I don't care, its a forum, people generally do not review what they have written before hitting send or perhaps education levels vary. For the most part we know what people mean. I don't intend on embarrassing anyone by calling them out on misspelling or bad grammar. I have made enough of my own errors and no doubt will contine to do so. Glass houses and all that comes to mind I do cringe though for anything written badly by someone in their paid professional capacity...teachers, newspapers, restaurant menu, company social media etc that contains misspelling, incorrect grammar or just badly written.

Tips on breaking the sugar addiction

I am a sugar freak, I just can't seem to do it in moderation, one taste of sweet its on. Some people can moderate really well but for the most part I have to abstain (edited to add: which I clearly don't do well otherwise I wouldn't be here) https://gretchenrubin.com/2012/10/back-by-popular-demand-are-you-an-abstainer-or-a-moderator/

    Paleo diet vs vegan

There are a lot of people still overweight regardless of eating a paleo or vegan diet. Neither of these diets are necessarily for weight loss, I guess they could be considered a lifestyle and/or for the advocates of each diet they would say that their diet has the most health benefits. Both of diets do have wonderful health benefits, but it does come down to longevity. Which diet/lifestyle is the most sustainable for you for the long term. I doubt I could do a vegan diet, paleo too can be hard, both have aspects of inflexibility. Some years ago I looked into the 'primal blueprint' by Mark Sisson. A variation of the paleo diet that was more moderate and flexible. It's wasn't even necessary to buy the book all the info was available on the website. I liked that he had a section for weight loss (he recommended for weight loss that people count calories inconjunction with the primal blueprint, along with ensuring sufficient protein and good fats).

    Anyone expedite the phases

Your stomach is still healing from surgery, why would you risk that? Why not talk to your surgeon, if he/she may offer some insight as to why they have set the post-op phases they have or give you the okay to progress through the phases quicker.

    Dry mouth

If you are drinking plenty of water, perhaps the dry mouth is due to medical reasons? My dry mouth led to a diagnosis of Sjogren's Syndrome (automimmue issue) after blood tests (negative) and then minor salivary gland biopsy (positive). There are many other medical issues that can cause dry mouth as well.

    MEXICO.

Did you search the bariatricpal forums yet? I put the word Ortiz in the bariatricpal search field and it returned over 2000 results, there would a lot more for Mexico, I think there is also a Mexico thread on here, lots of info would be found there.

    Coming up with a blank

Perhaps it wasn't deliberate but a mistake, if people are using mobile phones it may be difficult to select the emoticon that was intended and they may not have realised with emoticon was selected.

    The Six Month March

Shame they do not send text message reminders, for my doctors we get a reminder the day before, we have to acknowledge yes via return text message or phone their office to cancel.

How long ago did you have your bypass? Is this the post-op diet phase immediately following the bypass or are you a few months out?

Sorry to hear things are not going well for you. Have you spoken to your doctor to check what may be wrong? What foods are you eating and in what quantity?

    Liquid pre-op diet

Some doctors just have different routines when compared to other doctors, some doctors have different routines for their individual patients and that may be based on their start weight, health issues, their liver functions (which may indicate a large fatty liver that needs to be smaller for surgery), etc etc. I suspect some doctors do it to get patients into a compliance routine for their post op diet, particularly the first couple of weeks. If a patient can't or won't comply with a two week pre-op diet how will they manage in the first two to three months or so? You don't want to risk surgery being delayed by not following your doctor's orders. If you don't want a liquid diet pre-op find a doctor who doesn't do it, your friend's doctor is a good start. It's two weeks vs the rest of your life...think about it

    Pain and More Pain

Sorry to hear you are suffering with this. I am not an expert but I assume its gas, are you walking lots? Walking helps get rid of the gas. If its not the gas but from the actual surgery itself, were you not given pain killers?

    Quotes & Inspiration

Not sure who this is attributed to but I do like it: Achieving goals takes a backbone not a wishbone. Japanese proverb that translates to something like: fall down seven times, get up eight.

    Do I make the cut?

This is not a playground, and for the most part people are quite civil it doesn't do you any justice to act childish, act like the adult you presumably are and people will respond to you as an adult.

    Do I make the cut?

How old are you Taylor? You appear quite young. Some one mentioned epigastric sleeve with stitches I had never hear of that, perhaps its another name for an endoscopic sleeve gastroplastry. This is the procedure I will undertaking in October. While people with much higher BMIs have had the procedure it is ideal for those with lower BMIs. Some people have complained about not getting enough restriction. Some doctors don't seem to be restricting enough of the stomach or use fairly loose stitching. For others, the stitches have not held for some reason.
