    Fantastic article

Thank you for sharing. Should be required reading for all pre-ops

    At a stall

How long since your surgery? How long since you've lost any weight? Stalls are fairly standard, and if it isn't long since your surgery and you are eating as per your post op guidelines, your scale weight will catch up to your efforts before too long.
  3. I think the big issue is it gets stuck as it goes through the band or before the band, expands and causes a blockage. Perhaps talk to the doctor who installed the band (does it need more filling maybe?) about the supplement.
  4. I live by myself and I was fine at home alone. I didn't need any assistance but having someone around would have been nice. I would think a couple of days would cover it for you, but if he is able to access personal/carer's leave for a few more days that would be handy for you.
  5. It's a bot, often about wanting to chat with admin, how do they contact them. Edited: Post has been removed now.

    Nausea made better by eating

I am no expert but have you been checked for helicobacter pylori? And if you are not on acid reflux medication could also be too much stomach acid??
  8. What is your liquid medicine for? What is it? In the very early stages of post op there may be too much stomach acid that can make you feel like you are hungry...are you on medication to reduce stomach acid? If not, chat to your doctor. It could also be thirst/dehydration this also masks as hunger. How are you going with fluid intake? If its not too much stomach acid or dehydation, check your liquid medication with your doctor.

    Post op calories per day?

No I didn't receive any calorie goals or restrictins for post op phases. While some may have, from what I have seen on here, its most protein and fluids goals and for some people there may have been carbs targets or limits.
  10. I'd leave the cabbage until you are a little further down the track. It is probably a little harder to digest and quite fibrous (so not possibly not a soft food). (Edited to add) The cabbage would possibly make you bloated and gassy this early on. I couldn't tolerate bread for a long time, it's quite stodgy, I don't think you'd want to be eating it just yet.

    Day 14 ESG

With an ESG, which is a non surgical weight loss procedure, there is less recovery time needed. I would have been fine flying at 14 days, the issue is ensuring you have appropriate food handy...may still be on fluids or pureed at this point. For surgical weight loss procedures, I was fine to fly within a few days (as I did to come home), not sure I would have been up to flying for recreational or work on a longish flight by day 14. I had two weeks off work for a desk job, it was fine for me. I've seen people posting about going back to work within days, (not something I would have been able to manage).

    Reversible Gastric Sleeve Procedure

Interesting concept. Have you done many of these procedures yet and how long have you been doing them? How many people so far have taken up the option of reversing the procedure?

    What should I be eating??

May be worthwhile checking in with your surgeon or dietician for some assistance. Perhaps for the moment scale back to soft foods?? Hopefully some members who have had a bypass may have some relevant experience or information to share

    What should I be eating??

Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues. So as to enable responses tailored to your question you may want to give some more information, such as why you can't really eat anything...are you experiencing vomiting, acid relux or dumping most or all the time you eat? Not able to actually eat more than a few small spoonfuls at a time? Just can't tolerate eating...texture, taste or smell is turning you off? What foods have you been eating? What guidance have you had from your surgeon or dietician with the issue?
  15. I think the issue here is the chewing will activate your digestive system, which will produce stomach acid to digest the food, except there won't be any food and the acid may cause acid reflux or possibly be too harsh on an empty stomach.

    HELP scared

I originally had an ESG, it wasn't painful as such but I did have rolling stomach cramps, you can get over the counter medication for that (buscopan). You need time to allow the suture / anchor sites to heal, so I would think most doctors would give you at least a week or two of fluids (shakes), I did see one plan when someone had to do shakes for about eight weeks. It really does depend on your doctor's guidelines (I would have thought you would have been provided with guidelines by now). I am not sure why you think having a weight loss procedure makes you (or anyone else) a quitter. I imagine you have had many attempts at losing weight and haven't been successful? If this helps you lose the weight and maintain the lost, that's a good thing. ESG is a lot different than the surgical options, the reduction in stomach size is not as great as those options, you mostly certainly eat more than a few bites at a time (as is the case with the surgical options once healed from those procedures). This is from an Australian perspective but you may find it useful https://bmiclinic.com.au/endoscopic-sleeve-gastroplasty-faq/

Will relationship go from bad to worse?

Sorry to be bearer of bad news, but yes, I think things will get worse, a whole lot worse. Please seek counselling for your low self esteem, you deserve much better than this and you should not be tolerating it.. Talk to someone (a lawyer perhaps) about a possible break up and what you need to do. Please get counselling for your children, they need to know that his behaviour is not okay and it doesn't need to be tolerated in the home, at work or with friends.

Yes, while a lot of people do have a pre-op diet, some don't. Some surgeons just don't require it, while others base off your liver function tests (where there is very likely a fatty liver), ohters just require for all their patients regardless. You can chat to your surgeon see which camp they are in. If you are not significantly overweight it may be that your liver function tests were okay.

    Meatless

I am able to tolerate meat and chicken. If you are happy to expand on your post may I ask what you mean by not being able to tolerate meat/fowl? Does it make your vomit? Do you experience a lot of pain? Or just can't tolerate the smell and/or taste?

Anyone else able to chug water?

I'll be three years out in this coming March, I can probably chug nearly half a small glass of water, but I generally do a mouthful at a time.
  22. I can't stand to look at photos with an half eaten meal with teeth marks (sandwiches/burgers etc) for some reason it just grosses me out.

    Working Out After WLS

If you haven't been to the gym or done weights before, it maybe worthwhile having a couple of sessions with a personal trainer. After a couple of sessions have the trainer give you a program which you can work on for a period of time and then increase the weights as your strength improves. There are many beginner programs available for free online...bodyweight programs without any equipment or resistance programs using bands or hand weights.
