It is AMAZING how different this is for all of us. I was told, by the nurse on discharge, no napping unless I really needed too, but to move as much as possible. my weight limit to lift/push/pull is 10# (doesn't like a big difference, but it is twice as much when you think about it) Reading over everyones posts, even the diets the first 30 days show a lot of variation. So I think it shows there is some leeway in here for some of us that feel we are struggling to follow exact instructions? I think if everyone just tries to do their best, even if it's not perfect, are going to do very well in the long run!

I was told to get them super soapy in every shower and pat them dry. Other than that just keep them dry. I have that glue over top, no bandages or tape on mine. The glues starting to peel off and they incisions look great. I'm post op day 12.

hey buddies - good to see everyone's updates and so many doing well Sorry for those struggling - for those with gas pains that were just sleeved, I found day 3 to be a tough one but by day 5 i felt pretty good ..hoping the same for you.
It is really interesting to see the difference in surgeon's plans etc..I didn't expect them to vary so much. I was sleeved 12/7 had my 2 week check in yesterday - finally got off my 7-8oz of Protein Shake only per day. I moved to soft foods and there is a list I can eat. Interestingly, he doesn't give targets for Protein or Fluid amounts per day - said to stay hydrated and eat when hungry - even if it's 4, 5, 6 times per day...but only eat until satisfied, don't over eat. Eat nutrient dense foods and try for higher protein. He said if he gives targets sometimes people are trying to cram in more food/protein when they aren't hungry. Also everyone exercises different amounts etc. So that's a lot less pressure to me
I'm down 17lbs since surgery. for someone with horrible thyroid and parathyroid problems who never sees the scale move, it's a beautiful thing.

I have a great team, surgeon, and dietician that work together and they have been awesome. I was given 2 folders with all the information I needed, it's my Bible, and I go to it daily. In my opinion, I knew this was a process, and it's major surgery and a life changing decision. We cannot expect for it to be a magic wand. It took years to put on the extra pounds, I know this will take work and this surgery is just a jump start. I will take it easy on my recovery, enjoy my quiet times, reflect and plan on my next step to go back to the gym. I wish you all a speedy recovery and best of luck with your future self, which will be a much smaller version, but a much more incredible version.

Hi ~ Welcome to the group. My Countdown for surgery on Tuesday at 8:30am!! I don't know about you but I've been so busy trying to get everything done for Christmas and some things in order. Tomorrow is my last "day" and so much to do.
Over the last week since my pre-op I've been a little anxious but now really excited! I had a lap band and now getting the sleeve. I have done the whole program with lap band and it's the same for sleeve. Let me know if you know to know anything. More than happen to help.

People who do that annoy me so much. If they think having half their stomach removed or intestines rearranged is the easy way out they should try it! It takes a lot if courage and determination to do this and do it well. I wish you all the best on your journey. Only tell who you want to tell it's your body.

Just wanted to say publicly that I'd welcome message exchanges with anyone going through this around the same time I am next week:)
Want to let someone know how it's going? Bored in your hospital room? Want to compare notes? Want to vent about this crazy process? Message me! I'd love to hear from you.
Just click my user name "Creekimp13" (in blue type to the left of this post)
Then, when you get to my page, right at the top of the page in the middle (under where is says Bariatric Pal) is a blue box that says message. There ya go:)
Might take me a bit, but I promise to respond to all messages.
Wishing you all a safe surgery and an excellent outcome!

I have not told everybody. At least not in my family. Telling two in particular will not magically make them more supportive. I do tend to be of the camp of, it's medical, it's private, it's no ones business. At least until after any surgery is done.
Those that need to know, know. Those I know genuinely care about me and will be supportive, do know. MY just turned 6 years old grandson. He knows. LOL He is so supportive, he's probably one of the two most supportive and encouraging. Though when I lost ten pounds, he told a neighbor I barely knew..."my gramma lost 10 pounds!" haha he was proud, but we had a discussion and so far so good.
But not long ago I was at a family event. My sister (RN), my niece (RN), and I were talking about some medical issues and I'm not sure what came up but the one said something about...then you have those that have gastric bypass, and rolled her eyes. The other quickly followed up with "OH! Or they have the gastric SLEEVE done" and rolled her eyes. Yep they have no need to know. I don't need that kind of judgement and negativity in my life.

A long time poster on here used to say something I have adopted. She says she considers this weight MAINTENANCE surgery and I agree.

I've lost 50-100 pounds more times than I can count. This is the first time I have EVER kept it off. 135 lbs for three years now.
