I believe I was just insulted at my gym.
Some people don’t enjoy being objectified while working out and it’s inappropriate to act this way in public whether male or female, some may say the act of being “objectified” is what is insulting. I think it’s easy to say oh I wish some random guy would behave this way towards me at a bar or a gym but in fact it can be quite embarrassing to receive such unwanted attention.

I believe I was just insulted at my gym.
Why are they are in the stretching area not stretching anyways? Seems like a rude gesture no matter what to me. I’ve never slid dollar bills at a stranger in a gym.

December Surgery Dates
Yes it is and it’s going to be super tough. I’m just now to the point the last few days where the full liquids are becoming more tolerable and I’m either used to being hungry or it just isn’t bothering me as badly. The good news is I’m definitely losing some weight lol.

The count down!!
I think it is normal to be scared you will cheat but if possible set yourself up for success by not having your favorite solid foods around. Im on a week now of liquids and yes it hard and yes I’m hungry. But we go through months of jumping hoops to let this stop us now! You will be able to follow it!

December Surgery Dates
I see lots of us going for it here in December! My surgery was moved to the 7th. I’m on my liquid diet and starting my all clear liquid diet November 30th. Hope everyone is not as hungry as I am ?

Pre Op diet
I’m on a two week liquid diet. The first week is full liquids and the second week is clear liquids only. The best advice is to follow your surgeons program and diet guidelines no matter what because that’s the person performing the surgery! You can do it!

Protein
I’m allowed to have low sugar low fat yogurt on mine as well so I’ve stocked up on Greek yogurt. There are lots of great choices for yogurt if you are allowed to have that.

Just beginning my journey to gastric bypass
If you compare the complications for the two surgeries, as far as leak rates, blood clots, that kind of thing that would land you back in the hospital it seems that they have similar percentage rates for both procedures. That is what our surgeon told us and he encouraged us to decide what procedure we were most comfortable having after the information session based on an individual basis. Whatever you decide, you’ve found a great place here for plenty of people in every stage of the weight loss surgery spectrum!

Deductible
Yes, if your plan runs January to December you do have to start paying that deductible all over again beginning in January. Mine is 6350 so I’m glad I squeaked in! That being said, it’s more costly to be obese and you will still save in the long run!

Old habits creeping back
The program at my hospital has a once monthly bariatric meeting for all stages of patients in their journey. They also have twice monthly post op meetings where the bariatric coordinator and nutritionist are in attendance. If your program has meetings like this going in person can help you be accountable and get in person advice from others that may be in the same situation.

Paperwork submitted
Definitely depends on the company. I found out in three business days as well.

December Surgery Dates
I’m stating Monday as well with liquids....?

Packing
If you are sensitive to light or sound and will be staying in the hospital overnight bring ear plugs and an eye mask. I don’t go anywhere without my Burt’s bees lip balm. Good luck!

Anxiety Before Surgery
Lucky for me in my career I have been able to meet quite a few ppl that had bypass surgery over 5 to 12 years ago, a few more than 20 years ago. I have yet to meet one that regrets having bypass surgery, even a few that struggled in the beginning would not change a thing. Ive never had surgery either so yes that part is scary and with any medical procedure there is always a small chance something can go wrong. That being said without risk there is usually no reward either. We got this!

Pain in chest every time I sip or eat
I know I just was in my preop session and they did a lot of talking about chewing and chewing every bite. No drinking during meals, no straws, all these things. It is a lot to learn and remember and with my operation so close I’m trying to remind myself of all these things too. I have a tendency to eat quickly now so I know it’s something I need to work on to avoid discomfort in the future. Good luck!

Pain in chest every time I sip or eat
Have you tried Gas X strips? I read somewhere on here that some ppl found them helpful postoperatively.

Cheating
I didn’t get to the point of needing this surgery by cheating on a diet one time, or eating one piece of candy at a time, or whatever etc. I’m trying to avoid that thinking because for me once leads to twice leads to a week. Everyone has their own stopping points I suppose but it reminds when I quit smoking for good...I never had that one more cigarette. I’m determined to stick to my preop diet to prove to myself that I can and will stick to the post op diet.

Last minute bariatrics buddy
Actually I was in the pre op information session when the call came. I had to sit there for two hours wondering what the news would be lol. I had read a lot about denials and things like that so I was surprised to hear back so quickly that I was approved on the first try. All we can do is what is required regarding documentation and hope that we get the decision that we need. Don’t lose sight. I’ve struggled the past month with “ I may not get to eat this again” syndrome. It’s stressful waiting and wondering but don’t let it get you.

December Surgery Dates
I’m scheduled for my bypass on December 4th. Is anyone else having their surgery in December? I’m nervous but excited!

Last minute bariatrics buddy
I just got my approval today. My surgery is scheduled for December 4th, and I’m having a bypass as well. I’d love to have a few bypass friends to go through it together!
