  1. UPDATE.... Just got back from getting my stitches taken out. My doc said he wanted to discuss something with me.... ok..... he is paying the ENTIRE cost of my replacement surgery!!! He said that he thinks he probably punctured the tubing when he was trying to do a fill and wanted to take responsibility for that. I LOVE my doc!!!!
  2. MIL won! 60% of the votes!
  3. I just re-read your post. Congrats on your insurance covering 100%! You are lucky!
  4. My doc won't band anyone with a BMI under 40 without SEVERAL comorbidities. (high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and so on) From what I understand about insurance companies they follow similar guidelines. I may be wrong but this is my understanding. Have you contacted a surgeon? What did they say? They would know best about what your insurance company will and will not cover and also what the surgeon's guidelines for the procedure are.
  5. Can you say dejavu? (sp?) I just had my port/tubing replaced last week. I would love to talk to you about this. I will send you a PM 2bethin.
  6. I started using it about a week after surgery once my stitches were removed and the tegaderm was taken off of my incisions.

Sorry to hear about Mrs P's fall. That just sucks! I feel for you in your situation, it would make me uncomfortable as well.
  8. Thanks for asking Alex! She is a state representative here in CO. This is her 4th and final term. I think she will probably run for state senate when her 2 year term as a rep is up. She's a pretty cool lady for a MIL!
  9. The top of the foot hurts BAD!!! My foot was so swollen 2 days after I had it done that I couldn't even walk. I kept thinking to myself... what have I done? I couldn't be happier with it now though!
  10. BTW... my MIL won!!!! Good day to be a Democrat!
  11. One word of caution.... from what I have heard here on LBT Capitol One will only finance you if you have your surgery in the US. If you are going to Mexico you will have to look at other options.
  12. Here's the link to the People mag article. http://people.aol.com/people/article/0,26334,1554089,00.html
  13. Welcome Pam! I hope you find all the support and info you need here at LBT! There are bunches and bunches of great people here who want to listen and help you. Ask any questions and I'm sure you will get an answer pointing you in the right direction.
  14. Good luck sweet! Do lots of research and read everything you can find on the band and you will be fine. Keep us updated with your progress!
  15. Myra.... I'm so sorry about your news. I know how devastating a band complication can be (although mine was nowhere as serious as ours) Hang in there girl and I'll be praying that it repositions itself!
  16. Mvpo... HUGS girl!! Let us know how it all comes out!
  17. There is an article about this girl in this week's People magazine as well. I am shocked and appalled that a doctor would do this procedure on a 12 year old! How is this going to help her learn to eat and excercise properly? At least with the band you have behavior modification. She has none of that. And to take out as much as he did? What was it... like 35 pounds?? So much that she required a tummy tuck? OMG!
  18. Hi sweet.... I'm sorry, I'm still rolling over here because of "Dr Weiner in Frankfurt" Poor guy! If the doc is reputable I think it sounds like a good deal!
  19. The vitamin E was very soothing to my scars.... no itchyness at all!
  20. I used vitamin E and my scars are harldy noticable. I had a breast reduction a few years ago and scarred horribly so I thought I would try vitamin E this time. I am a believer!
  21. I don't think it's too soon. If you "suddenly" have restiction from your last fill you could always cancel your appointment! That's the beauty of the band.... you can always get a fill or unfill!
  22. Are you banded? When were you banded? What does your band doc say?
  23. I used to have such a cynical view of politicians. Then I met my hubby. His mom is in the state house of representatives in my state. Through her I have met many, many politicians and MOST (not all) of them (Democrats) truly have the peoples best interests at heart and are in politics to make a difference. I have seen the pain of smear campaigns and the joy of victory in my MIL's face. As she runs for her final term today (term limits) I hope and pray for change in my state and federal government. As far as Dubya is concerned... well.... I'm not even gonna go there. Just remember.... when Clinton lied noone died.
