  1. I’ve been spending about the same amount so far. What I don’t spend on crap food or eating out I spend on protein supplements [emoji849] hopefully when I get to the solid food stage and can get my protein from fish and lean meat...my grocery bill will go down!

Full liquid stage post 2 weeks

Are you on an antacid? It’s part of my post op (day 5) and it helps me to take it before eating or drinking anything. I also found a few things that really work for me (soup broth, Powerade zero, and popsicles) and I stick with that. I was warned new things introduced can upset the tummy initially, perhaps that’s what’s going on. I hear it gets better as you heal and advance diet. But if you don’t have an antacid it might be worth asking the doc about—it makes me feel more settled.

First day home - who can relate?

I’m post op day 5 and still having gas and burps. It’s completely normal per my doctor. I wish I could lie on my side, but my staples hurt when I do that. I was told to sip 1-2 oz every hour the first two days after surgery, but all programs are different. Broth and Powerade Zero worked well for me. Walk as much as you can tolerate to move the gas around and get those burps and hiccups out! I do laps around my lower level every hour.

    UGH!!

I had a chest cold for 3 days before my surgery on 11/28. I told the RN the day before and she said come in anyway and they’d listen to me. The doc said they do surgery as long as the lungs sound good and thankfully mine were clear by then. They said if you have symptoms “above the neck” like nasal congestion they don’t cancel surgery but they don’t mess with lung issues. So I was technically still sick with nasal congestion, but my surgery went perfectly and I had no complications...and I’m recovering well at home. So I would tell them— you may not have it cancelled!
  5. Definitely milk of magnesia or miralax. I used miralax post op day 2 evening in 8 oz Powerade and it worked, but I felt gurgly all day. I was told by doc MoM probably won’t make me bubbly/gurgly feeling.
  6. Everyone has different plans though, so if all of that is OK in your guidelines post op, I don’t think it’s wrong!
  7. I was sleeved the same day. My plan tells me to drink 1-2 oz an hr of sugar free liquids. My daily requirement is 32 oz. I can also have hot cereal, jello, cream of soups, and popsicles. I also need to sip on 1 protein shake through the day. My pain is so much better but I’m still swollen as well. My staples and stitches come out December 6. I was told it would be 6 weeks until I was completely pain/soreness free. I’m also still taking a blood thinner (required), pain med x 2 a day, and an acid reducer. i haven’t been able to finish any of my “meals” and I was told that normal and to listen to my tummy Good luck, you got this!

It’s crazy how different each person’s program is!

    Surgery Nov 28

I am on full liquid now, but my stomach doesn’t like it much. My diet is mostly popsicles, isopure protein drinks, and popsicles. Tried jello—took forever to finish 3 oz. eating 2 table spoons of hot cereal right now—going slow. Cream of soups didn’t work well for me, I got nauseous. Can’t wait until day 7 when I can have eggs and cheese. That’ll open some doors for food choices.

    Surgery Nov 28

Great! Slowly but surely advancing my diet. Pain is much better. Going on a walk soon. All is well!
  11. I only told my boss I was having surgery. Didn’t say what type and she didn’t ask. My leave was approved just under “surgery” title. I told my most trusted coworker before I left. I’ll tell people when I go back to work if they ask, I won’t lie. But they didn’t need to gossip while I’m away ;P
  12. I’m post op day 4 and I’m doing 8 oz of isopure ready to drink a day until day 7 I think. My powder mixes arent sitting well on my stomach quite yet and the fruity isopure is better at least in that regard.

    November sleevers here

I’m only post op day 4 but my surgeon told me to exercise as tolerated and if it hurts “don’t do it” cardio wise. No weight lifting yet. I was told to expect to be weaker and more tired for about a month after surgery. I walked down the street yesterday and it was like I ran three miles I was so winded. I think it’s normal and part of the recovery process. Definitely keep fueling your body though through good nutrition of course!

    Post-op pooping

I took miralax in Powerade zero on post op day 3 to avoid problems. I had a history of constipation before surgery so I’m sure not trying to make it worse after! Also have MoM on standby since that seems to be what works quickly for a lot of folks on here. The miralax made me feel gurgley and a bit bloated so MoM might be the way to go for awhile.

    Protein shakes

I’m switching between isopure, premier protein, and gnc whey isolate powders in chocolate and cookies and cream. None are amazing of course. I’m still looking for new flavors to try

    Surgery Nov 28

My surgery was yesterday and I had a drain post op. They took it out at 5am before I went home. Feels so less sore with that thing gone!

    November sleevers here

Surgery was yesterday, flew through it flying colors according to my surgeon. Released 22 hours after surgery. I thought it would be hard just sipping on water but considering tum is now the size of a skinny banana, sipping is going A-okay! Lots of soreness, but now that my drain is out it’s dull pain and tolerable. Cheers to all November sleevers!

  20. Hi all! I'm pre-op still, but looking ahead to my liquid diet (staring November 21st) and early post-op recovery. I'm sensitive to dairy and was looking for a plant based protein powder. My surgeon's office suggested SunWarrior as the only plant based one they know of. Does anyone else use this? Or use another one that isn't dairy based? Thanks!
