    Help!

Does your surgeons office have a 24/7 phone line? My office has a nurse line to call for any emergent questions or needs outside of traditional office hours. If they do, I’d call that. But otherwise with a follow up tomorrow, personally I’d be inclined to do my best and wait until the appointment unless it was hugely unbearable. I’m sorry you’re experiencing that!
  2. https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1067731 I ate this recipe like, daily during pureed stage--It tasted like real food
  3. Out of all the weight loss compliments I’ve received, this one is the one I just react weird to. I know they mean well, but do I say “thanks!” After being told I’m disappearing? I know to say thank you when someone says “you look great!” Or whatever else but this one baffles me and makes me twitchy, ha anyone else? Or any other comments that you’re like “ummm thanks?” to?

    November sleevers here

Getting closer to goal! 153 now, goal is 130. Started at 225 and sleeved on 11/28.

    “You’re disappearing!”

Yes, I think it just felt weird for me to say "thanks" after the word disappearing. I do know they meant well and it was completely a compliment. Just a new one for me to hear! I brushed it off after, I think I was more discombobulated with my own awkward response and the way I actually articulated the thanks I don't always do well with compliments especially from higher ups in the company--sometimes I freeze.

    “You’re disappearing!”

See that one I'd like and chuckle at! Especially from a kiddo or a teen.

    I confess....2018

A lot of things change--the way the person that had surgery feels about themselves, like self-confidence changes, attitude changes, motivations change, habits change etc. And when you've been with a partner that is used to the old habits, the old moods, attitudes, etc--sometimes it's a change that cannot be overcome. In my case, my surgery was one of the least of our problems, but it was one. I know one person that also had a relationship end just because she had confidence after the surgery and he couldn't handle it! He liked the depressed version of her apparently?

    I confess....2018

I forgot one I confess I can now identify with those people that had a relationship end after weight loss surgery. Put me in the statistics book, ha. Relationships after surgery are so much different! #singlelady

    I confess....2018

I confess I drink wine more than is probably recommended for weight loss patients, but I still lose every week so I don't really care. I confess I too look at obese people differently now that I'm on the losing track. And I scold myself for it every time I notice I'm getting judgey thoughts. I confess I had a personal size bag of "Popables" or whatever they're called--like air chips--this weekend and they were delicious, but it's the first time I had what I consider cr@ppy snack food since surgery in November and I hated myself for finishing the bag and even getting it in the first place. Won't be doing that again--the mental anxiety after is too much!
  10. I’ve been on a birth control pill of some sort for most of my 20s. I’ve been having issues with this current one and my regular doctor said it could be an issue with absorption because of my surgery. She said I could try another one, but if that doesn’t work I should consider alternatives aside from the pill like IUDs and what not. I guess i thought absorption issues were routine with the RNY, but I had never heard of this with the sleeve? At least with bc...with vitamins and calcium I was told maaany times. Anyone else had this issue? I have my 6 mo surgery follow up appt at the end of the month so that’ll be a great time to ask his thoughts. But until then here is good

    Birth control issues?

I’m so against the idea of anything being inserted like the IUD or arm one so I’m crossing my fingers this new pill is better! If not I’ll have to go back to the old school way of doing things 😂
  12. All of mine generally hurt for 3 weeks.
  13. I know myself well enough to know that I've always been a perfectionist. And when the doctor said we can definitely get you "60% of excess body weight off" I calculated that to 163 and said PFFFFFTTTT, that won't do. My goal weight is 130 and I only have 24lbs to get there. Even if it takes all the way up until my one year appointment, I'll fight for it. There will be some insanity days where I track everything to the T and obsess about how to get that last 2 grams of protein and do 10 extra push ups, but there will be other days where I have an egg roll from the Chinese joint down the street. *shrug* But I'm in the camp of "fight till you get there"

    #2 Terrible Tale

I do recall having a BM after surgery that made me feel like I was going to pass out and my face was flushed like crazy. Pretty sure I ended up laying in the shower waiting for the awfulness to pass. And getting up when the urge hit

Boss Wants Me to Delay Surgery

Yeah I definitely didn't tell my boss the specifics of my leave. I just let the FMLA company do whatever they needed to. I think all she ended up knowing is I would be gone 3 weeks. And I agree with you, it should be your choice and whatever your surgeon has available! It isn't your boss' life, it's your life--and you've got some life changin' to do!

    Driving

Same, I was told not to drive until I was off pain medicine. I didn't even want to drive until 3 weeks after, it hurt my incisions just being the passenger,..so many bumps in the roads!
  17. I get nauseous at least once a week and I’m 5 months post op. So it can linger. It’s a lot better now that I went back on my acid reducer. I feel like I’m the odd ball in these replies though—guess I’m just that lucky 😝

How did you decide on your goal weight?!

I thought about the lowest weight I was ever at in my adult life: 143. I thought, "man, with this sleeve, I could probably get down lower than that" and settled on 130. I'm young, that's a healthy weight for someone my age and height, so I went with it. Only about 24lbs to go and my 6 month post op appointment is May 23rd!

    Exercise?

I wasn’t allowed to do anything but walk until my 6 week post op visit. 5 months post op and I’m doing cardio every day and weights 4 days a week.
  20. I'm 5 months post op. I make a smoothie/shake for breakfast Monday-Friday. I mix 1 scoop protein powder with water and typically some sort of fruit. Right now it's 1 scoop protein, water, 3 strawberries, and a cup of kale. It's convenient, so that's why I stick with it. And my body doesn't typically want "real food" until way after I get to work. This helps me meet my liquid requirements too.

    Normal BMI!

Weighed in today and my BMI is now in the “normal” range instead of “overweight” and I’m giddy like a kid on Christmas 😄 And to celebrate....I’m getting my exercise today via yard work 🙄 exciting times over here haha.

    Normal BMI!

Thank you for all the love friends! This board is a big part of my success and I love all the motivation and encouragement! 🎉
  23. I’m still trying to cope with opening my fridge and saying “there’s nothing in here!” When really what is in there is enough for a week most of the time, but it looks so bare bones now post op 😟
  24. And don’t be surprised if you are still eating these exact amounts at 5 months out 😂 I’m 5 months post op on Sunday and unless I’ve cooked a real recipe to eat, my go to lunches are 2 oz lunch meat and 1 slice of cheese and I’m donezo. 👍
