    Before and After Pics

6 months post op. 75 down, 20 to go.

In what way have you changed?

^ this exactly. This part of my personality doesn't get pointed out to me by others hardly at all since I've lost weight.
  3. I got tired of my GNC protein and decided to go with a protein powder that's highly recommended by my surgeon's office and his previous patients--Syntrax Nectar. I picked "Fuzzy Navel" flavor. It was only $30 off amazon for 2 lbs! I wanted the sample pack, but it was the same price as the 2lb tub so...value wise it didn't make sense. This one also had the highest ratings regarding flavor so I hope I don't regret this Anyone else use Syntrax Nectar?
  4. I just bought a container of Natures Bounty hair skin and nail supplement since my hair keeps insisting on falling out. My surgeon’s office suggested this brand or just biotin and this was on sale so I went for it. Unfortunately the serving size is 3 pills...which adds to my already large amount of supplement/vitamins I take in a day..but the things we do for post op success, right? Anyone use this brand and have good results?

    Hair/Skin/Nail supplement

Do you know the amount of mcg your biotin is? I might just have to call my nurse line and see what they recommend.

    It’s hard to believe...

    That’s awesome, congratulations! 🎉

    When does it stop ...

I’m six months post op and I still have a gurgle throat sometimes! But people don’t notice it as much as we think they do in my experience. My coworker was like, “no, I’ve never heard it” and it happens weekly!

    Staples or stitches

I had staples. The patch (for lack of a better word) that covered each of my 5 incisions was itchy at times, but I didn't have any issues with the staples themselves
  9. I'm clearly an app addict because I use both MyFitnessPal and Baritastic for different purposes--I like some of the features of both And for my ridiculous number of vitamins/supplments/prescriptions I use "Medisafe". So that's 3 apps all related to weight loss journey and keeping my sanity!

    November sleevers here

I just had to come back and post because I never thought I’d see this weight again! But with my new tool anything seems possible now keep going November friends! We got this!

    Surgeon Follow Ups for Life?

It is, ha! I’d love it if the tummy got that same memo ;P

    Surgeon Follow Ups for Life?

I just have to do my yearly follow up in November and that’s it. Just did my 6 month post op yesterday. But after November I am done unless I need them.

... i am embarrassed to ask

It’s much stronger and faster acting in my opinion. I had relief within an hour.

... i am embarrassed to ask

It’s a laxative I think inside of a stool softener but milk of magnesia did wonders for me. Very effective at moving things out

    Non Scale Victories

I fit comfortably on the shuttle bus seat now! I have to shuttle from our work parking lot to work and don’t like touching thighs with the person next to me...and now I don’t!
  16. I waited 2.5 months. And I’m 6 months out now and drink twice a week. And I still lose 1-3lbs a week.

    Hair???

Not everyone experiences hair loss--a good number of people on here have though, including myself. I think it was post op month 4 I noticed it and by month 5 it was in full swing. Talking like pulling large chunks out in the shower and after brushing my hair Thankfully I have a thick head of hair and you can't tell at all. I'm 6 months post op on the 28th and it's actually slowing down significantly, so I'm hopeful I can have my strong hair back soon!
  18. I follow my surgeon’s diet plan still. 60g of protein a day and 30g of fat or less. Personally I stay under 40-50 carbs a day but that’s just by choice—my program allows up to 70 a day. I don’t snack, I just eat my 3 meals. I work out 4 days a week. Basic 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes weights. Losing 75lbs in 6 months is amazing progress so I’m trying not to think too hard about the last 20–just have to keep chugging along!

    slightly disappointed

It could be "extreme" if your surgery isn't for another few months, but could you try the pre-op diet now and see how that works? If your surgeon's office even requires a pre-op diet.... My pre-op diet was like, 3 protein shakes a day and then broth, jello, sugar free popsicles, etc. I had to do pre-op diet for a week and I lost 11lbs before surgery.

    Did you consider bypass?

Mostly I listened to my surgeon, he said I would have a lot of success with the sleeve and so far he's right. I have heard people with GERD pre-surgery lean towards bypass, but I didn't have GERD so I can't talk on that. I also didn't want my guts rearranged. I started at a BMI of 33 and didn't want to end up down the road with a lot of deficiencies? I personally believe there would have been a possibility of losing "too much" if I went the bypass route with a lower BMI and possibility of consequences. I could be totally wrong about that, but I ultimately just listened to my surgeon's opinion.

    Waterlogged?

My program also says 64 oz of water a day. It took me months to actually reach that goal. And yes, I have definitely felt like I had a swimming pool in my tummy at times
  22. redhead_che

Clothing - buy stuff and it doesn't fit

I've been to Goodwill 3 times--I'm going on a shopping spree after I get to goal and maintain it for at least a few months, but I can't justify spending too much money on clothes that fit for a month and that's it.
  23. I’m 5’6 as well, my surgery BMI was 33 I think and I weighed 211. I’m 6 months out and at 151—stalling a little right now. The last 20lbs are going to be harder I think! But my surgeon thinks I can make it. I have flabby arms still, but that was genetic for me anyways too and my boobs completely deflated, but no terribly loose skin like on the tummy or legs.

    UTI post surgery

So I’m unfortunately no stranger to UTIs, had a handful in my life. They were no fun pre surgery. BUT I have a UTI now (6 months post op) and I swear it’s worse somehow. And it just crept up on me. One ER visit at 2am and 2 medicines later I’ll be on the road to health again, but public service announcement—stay hydrated and all that other jazz to prevent infections, this is Miserable 😭

    Dining out post op

I don’t eat out much after trying it a few times and feeling sick after. But the times I do I like to research the menu and know what I’m ordering before I even go. I only went to places that had their nutrition info online due to wanting to keep very in line with my program requirements. I had success at Cheesecake Factory and Red Robin
