  1. 3 weeks because I had the time to take. I was stir crazy half way through week 3, but I liked having that much time to recover and plan.

    Just Say No to Cheez-Its!!!

I avoided cheez-its for like, 7.5 months after surgery, but had some 2 weeks ago in an impulsive gas station buy on a road trip It was a 3 serving bag and I got through 2 servings without even realizing it! Never. Again. the cheez-its are BANNED! I was so successful keeping them out of the house (those and other crackers are my "I will devour this whole bag/carton" type foods) and now I have to try harder to eliminate gas station stops--like packing a bag ahead of time for nutrition needs! Did that last roadtrip (after the cheez it meltdown) and was wickedly successful. Protein shake and a yogurt if I needed one or both. Otherwise...I don't think I've had any huge slider screw ups like that. Unless you count alcohol. there are sadly days where I drink my calories from bad things like that instead of eating real people food. #workinprogress anyone?

    Shopping....

I've already sent probably 5 bags of clothes to goodwill. I've bought only 3 pairs of pants from goodwill ($15 total) since this journey started in November '17--shopped the rest in my own closet hehe. With only 9 lbs left, I'm waiting to go all out until I hit goal--even though my size 8 pants are trying to fall off me and my shirts/skirts have been too big for a long time...
  4. I had this for at least 2 months every single day. I upped my water intake and that only helped minimally. Asked the surgeons office and he said “that happens sometimes” and if my blood work was normal (it was) everything was fine. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I found that answer super not helpful, but it did go away shortly after.
  5. Yesterday was my birthday and my "nutrition" for the day included a protein shake in the morning.....and then alcohol. No food. Because I'm really smart. (not)

Fairlife Core Power Protein Coffee Shake

At 8 months out those nutrition stats wouldn't bother me, but at 5 weeks it would have. But I don't really indulge in coffee more than once a week.

    Should I be offended?!

I think a lot of good things have been said already, but I'll just throw in that even though I liked my surgeon a lot, I saw him one office visit pre op, 10 minutes before surgery, and never again. All my post ops have been his assistant. Maybe that'll be the case with your program? *crosses fingers*

    Body Dysmorphia

At only 9 lbs from goal I still feel like the fat girl. I just bought size medium dresses and it's still not sinking in. I just attribute it to being overweight for the majority of my life...surely it takes time to shake that feeling away. And maybe some therapy

    PPIs mandatory?

I was allowed to stop mine after the 3 months with no issues. Haven’t used it since.

    November sleevers here

10 pounds to goal...#vanitypounds haha. Progress Sunday! Thinking of going to buy my first crop top tomorrow as a birthday present 🎁😏 hope everyone else is still kicking butt!

    Coffee? Where art thou coffee?

I waited 6 months, my plan said I only needed to wait 2 months. I just didn’t really want it at that point. Now I just stick to basic coffee with one sugar. But I let myself have one mocha with skim (220 calories) once a month. I just say pay attention to what all is in your coffee (I wouldn’t do the fancy 800 calories coffees) and but I see no issues with a basic coffee once far enough out from surgery!
  12. Some foods early out simply make you feel gross and you can’t always put your finger on why. I will say I haven’t tolerated peanut butter since surgery 7 months ago with no plans to try again soon. It’s not a usual in my recipes so there’s really no reason for me to have it!
  13. 7 months out--I don't snack. I was told not to by my program and I think it actually helps. I don't want to be thinking about food that much I eat either egg whites or have a protein shake for breakfast. 2-3 oz deli meat and a slice of thin sargento cheese for lunch, or fish with vegetables, or a chicken dish... it varies, but always protein focused. Dinner is a variation of the same. Sometimes I do still miss my water intake goal of 64oz, but that's a work in progress.
  14. Surgery weight 211. 7 months out at 140. -71, I’ll take it. -85 from my highest of 225 which was right before pre op. Only 10 more to go!

    Rate your recovery

5/10 for me. I think I had a week's worth of prescription pain medicine and I took every last pill because I'm a wimp and it hurt. I also couldn't drive for 3 weeks or more because of the pain. I took 3 weeks off work though and that made it tolerable knowing I had a good amount of time to get better. P.s. I also had a drain, but it was removed right before I walked out of the hospital. That incision hurt the worst

    Concerns about calorie intake

I’m 7 months out and I’ve never ate more than 700 calories a day. Aside from a few week stall where I played with the same two pounds, I’ve consistently lost. I’m not super far in my journey yet I guess, but I’m only 12 lbs from goal now and never had issues with low calorie intake—I just get my liquid and protein daily in less calories. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

yes yes yes! I just broke through a month and a week ish stall. Longest one I've experienced. Bouncing between the same 2 lbs is like STOOOOOOP.
  18. redhead_che

    Have you experienced jealousy?

My mom, yes. Had the surgery many years ago and has kept 100lbs off, but still fights to lose more. It’s just nit picky comments I mostly ignore. I let it irk me for a second and move on. theres also a lady at work that had a weight loss surgery that is very nice to my face, but behind my back makes comments about how little I eat and “I’m not doing it the right way” yeah ok...is eating food trucks every day the right way? 🙄

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

I might be in the minority here, but it’s honestly still really hard for me to be proud of myself when it comes to my accomplishments. I’m 7 months out with 15 pounds to go and I still look at the scale or the mirror like “well no, that doesn’t look right” 🙄 it’s totally irrational, but until I hit goal I think I might be on the struggle bus trying to be proud!

    Staples or stitches

They cut them with scissors lol it’s nothing fancy. Doesn’t hurt

    Catheter During Surgery?

Yeah I had one. Wasn’t a big deal until they took it out ouchy.

Anyone else have problems eating eggs?

Oh my gosh yes for WEEKS I kept trying eggs various ways because it was soft and I freaking like eggs! I stopped having as many issues around week 8 but I’m 7 months post op now and still occasionally will make eggs and have to toss them due to over sensitive taste buds or texture bothering me
  23. I took a break from working out the week my ex left. Probably a little over a week if I really think about it. I followed the eating plan still but lost nothing, even gained back a pound. I now have that same “urgent” feeling you described about the time the weight comes off easiest. I’m 7 months out so my window is near! The thing that got my back in the gym was remembering my WHY. My WHY the h did I even do this? Why did I invest all of this time and money into myself? Think about it. I’m sure you have a why. My second thought is about the eating out. I’m not sure why you need to since you didn’t specify, but even if it’s the best take out or fast food ever, nothing beats meal prepping and eating at home where you know exactly what’s going in your pouch. But sometimes life happens So perhaps that’s your case, but if at all possible I’d be eating at home and tracking in a fitness app like MyFitnessPal. I hope all all gets better and you get to feeling more like the previous months. It gets rocky sometimes, we all know it. ☹️

Anyone take time off work before surgery

I preferred being at work. Even though I had ridiculous headaches and hunger pangs, I did have enough work and coworkers to keep me distracted. If I was at home...I can imagine I would have been tempted to cheat. But I didn’t! Worked through it all.

    Drinking post op

I’m currently taking a 30 day hiatus from alcohol but i can drink the same as I did pre op unfortunately. Although my tastes have changed. And I used to love red wine but now it tastes like straight acid. I don’t want the useless calories anymore. Maybe special occasions after this 30 days
