Any Sleevies in Chicago?!!?! Perhaps we could start some kind of support group that hangs out now and then, like coffee or something? I'd love to get one started! Let's all be friends dangit!!!!!!!!

My name's JadeVT, just turned 28 and reside on the Northside. Had my surgery done by Dr. Rami Lutfi at Presence Saint Joseph.

I agree with Berry78, just focus on the requirements/goals first and foremost. Do whatever you can to get those 60g of Protein and 64oz of Fluid. Remember, Protein Shakes like Premier Protein count towards your "fluids", so does your Soup.

Also, I noticed that pudding would make me feel fuller really quickly and made it harder for me to reach my goals at first, so just put the puddings aside for now and perhaps switch to sugar-free popsicles?

I'm putting my defense shield up and getting ready to get lectured by the community ????
Do I dare admit that I have had 1-2 full size Butterfinger candy bars post surgery every week since the time I've been allowed to have solids? Yep. Ive enjoyed my favorite candy bar every week for at least 7 months now. Before you lecture me, let me tell you a little bit about my thinking process. I've always hated the word "diet" because it implies that one day you will go off of your current way of eating and back to another way of eating. When people "diet", they deprive themselves of the things that they really want and at some point cave and give in. I eat a pretty clean diet 99% of the time. I was able to reach and surpass my surgeon's goal by 10 pounds before a years time. I weigh myself daily, continue to follow my surgeon's guidelines and exercise. I also know myself well enough to know my limitations. There is no way I can have an endless supply of chips, Cookies, candy and other "binge foods" in my house. They are way to easy to grab without thinking. However, I do enjoy an occasional indulgence. I record every single thing I eat in my loseit app on my phone. I account for those calories. Now can everyone handle this kind of discipline? Probably not. This is where you have to be honest with your own situation. I've never considered myself an emotional eater. I don't turn to food for comfort. I've never feared my need for butterfingers would increase as the weeks went on. I'm also willing to reevaluate and check myself if this starts to happen. I guess I have issues with any black and white thinking. It worries me when former food addicts become food nazis. I get that many of us need that kind of discipline to be successful. If I deprive myself of things I love, I start to rebel. Butterfingers make me happy. There. I said it. I don't have to have a case of them. I never did. I have created a new lifestyle for myself that includes healthy eating, exercise AND and an occasional treat. I'm glad I can still indulge once in awhile.
    ???? Confession time over.

I'm so mad at myself; and disappointed. 3 days post-surgery and I actually took tiny bites of food. I'm lucky I didn't hurt myself. I don't feel great today, but don't think I did any damaged and will not be testing myself again.

The reason I post this confession here is that thickgirl5683 is waiting a year to try a sweet and I couldn't make it 3 days without trying a taste of food. You are inspiring and reminding me what I should be doing.

Ground Turkey (first), Dressing, Mashed Potatoes (my mom makes the best), cauliflower mac & cheese, a bite of real baked mac & cheese, and a tablespoon of cranberry sauce (the can shaped kind) --- all sample portions of course. I've already logged the food into MyFitnessPal and I'm staying under the limits set for me by my NUT. It's just my parents and I for this T-giving, so they're up for the modifications. For Breakfast though, I'm having some minced ham and soft-scrambled eggs. I'm so happy my stomach is taking to well minced/pureed/soft foods.

I'm on my 3rd week and started 2 days early on pureed foods (NUT said it was cool).

I'm actually eating really soft scrambled eggs (see Gordon Ramsey's recipe on Youtube, the one where he makes them in a pot) and some extra mashed corned beef hash. I eat slowly and chew at least 30 times.

That sounds like a plan my dear. We’re all in the same boat and navigating the waters takes a lot of help and support. My procedure/ surgery is also tentatively planned for February (I’m interested in getting an esg done—- no incisions, less recovery time). So we can support each other until, during, and after our procedure time. Feels great knowing you have support when I don’t want to tell anyone I know about my procedure! Thanks Fluffy!😍😍

@hope4momof4 Holy crap! Now I'm really cryin'. And embarrassed!
I'm just a schmoe on the internet who assimilates information very quickly and is obsessed with factoids about everything. (And I'm absolutely certain that quite a lot of it is wrong or almost wrong! Remember the whole internet schmoe part...)
It's so weird about the surgery. In the "My Surgery" area under our profile area, you can put which surgery you're going to have along with the prospective date of surgery. I reset mine to February 2018 (I think)? But instead of showing pre-surgery, it just shows the surgery type without a surgery date. I think, if you look at post-surg peeps, you will see a surgery date immediately following their surgery type and that will let you know if someone is pre or post surgery.
Let's just muddle through this pre-surg stuff together ok?

Wow! Today is filled with really interesting and fairly SAD food choices. Had the surgeon's appointment this morning and it was a crap sandwich on a paper plate. My schedule was completely thrown off--up at 4:30am to get ready to go, back late this afternoon, now getting ready for a big weekend. My mood is totally tanked cuz of the DR. visit. I have a raging headache, no time to cook and nothing planned for tonight because the day was not supposed to Iron out this way. "Why am I eating today" is about hunger, comfort, emotional eating. By working through my emotions I was able to channel a dinner derailment via Wendy's to a much better choice of take out blackened fish, veg and salad.
    11.09.17 Daily Food
Brunch-3 egg white veggie omelet (mushrooms, double spinach, 1/2oz swiss cheese, rbp, onion) + 2 pieces bacon + 1/4c cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, decaff coffee (black no creamer)
L-1.75oz GS apple, 14g walnuts, 1 string cheese (mozz)
AS-28g Sabra orig hummus, 1.5oz baby carrots, 1 HEB light cheese wedge (smoked gouda)
D-whew! My rational brain took control back from my lizard brain! New dinner. Still a huge dinner. Will use mindfulness to eat only until the hunger abates, but not stuffed.
9oz blackened pangasius fillet, broccoli in olive oil and garlic, 1 cup side salad (romaine, grape tomatoes, red onion, blue cheese dressing)

BS-8g Lily's SF dark choco chips, 8g toasted almonds
    Daily Totals: 1501cals; 74g protein; 94g fat; 86g carbs; 17g fiber; 69g net carbs

Thank you ALL so much for the comments! They are so helpful!! I find I can still only eat about 1/4 cup of food at one sitting. I guess this is normal? I don't really feel "full" after, but I feel satisfied. I haven't tried meats yet. I think I'm going to have some potatoes, maybe green Beans (hopefully they go down okay), and a little pumpkin or sweet potato. I would love to try a deviled egg.
