Good luck! I am glad to hear that not everyone had to do two weeks in liquid clear. My doctor requires it, so I will comply. A MFP pal said at least I will be well hydrated. [emoji3]

Thank you so much! You have given me hope. I just got my test results from the blood work the surgeon requested and the test indicates I also have high cholesterol. Thank you so much for the info. When is your surgery date? Also did you have to do 3 (at least 91 days ) or 4 months of nutrition classes?

Definitely. This stage is a tiny blip in my life.
My husband told me something very valuable, he said whenever I struggle or feel like I'm getting down during recovery, I should just think of all the things I'll enjoy once slim; fitting in any chair without it cutting off the blood circulation to my legs, wearing a swim suit, wearing no sleeves in hot weather, running the parent race at my kids sports day...being more active over all...fitting on roller coasters or anything in general really.
Today is my first day on my own since surgery so having to do everything myself, my sleep wasn't great either last night but it won't be long eh

Now, what would I have for dinner? ???

Talked a bit to the doc today since I was out of it pretty much all day yesterday even though I was walking around as soon as I was up. I guess I did so well on the liver shrinking diet he didn’t need a 5th incision to hold the liver to the side so I only have 5 incisions (1 currently has the drain which they’re taking out tonight)
Feeling more tired today than yesterday though, been taking lots of naps in between walking. And try to stay up but find myself dozing off lots too
No stomach pain yesterday but today it feels like a big kink or cramp on the upper part of my belly or like I did 1000 crunches

I dealt with it pretty bad pre-op; I had a chronic cough as well (usually after I ate). Had the sleeve. Took the ppi’s for a few weeks and ran out. Haven’t had any meds since, nor GERD or the annoying cough. I’m just shy of 6 months post now. I give my thanks to God above (my personal belief) knowing the stats of it and having a sleeve. I just believed and prayed that it wouldn’t be an issue for me. So, my prayer has been answered.

As a follow up now during week 5 I've introduced chicken tenders, pizza, salad, vegetables and no issues. Again, in small quantities, but haven't had any issues whatsoever and still losing weight each week. I'm completely unrestricted in diet now.

I had my 4 week appointment yesterday. 4 weeks to the day and was given the all clear to resume normal eating with no restrictions. Of course that doesn’t mean to go back to candy and all that other junk, but i can eat whatever I want. It’s on me to be smart about it.
I started morning of surgery at 275. Four days later I was at 266.6 (8.4lb loss). One week out i was at 259 (16lb loss) and two weeks out I was at 252 (23lb loss). I’m now at 247. Total loss in 4 weeks is 28 pounds so I’m pretty pleased.
1st week was just chicken Soup broth, Premier Protein shakes (Costco), surgar free Jello, popscicles, and sugar free pudding.
2nd week, same as week one, but a couple times tried mashed potatoes. Started walking on treadmill few times a week. 15 minutes each.
3rd week, same as 2nd week, but tried meatballs and diced chicken breast. Tried chicken tacos. Chicken, corn tortillas and salsa.
4th week, beginning of the 4th week tried steak quesadilla, chips and salsa. Keep in mind very small portions. That’s where I’m at now. Was also cleared to lift weights which I will be starting next week.
At no time have I been nauseous or thrown up. A few times my stomach would rumble for a second or two, but nothing significant. I’ve probably been a bit aggressive in introducing the foods, but it’s worked out fine and I’m happy with the results. It’s all up to me now how I handle myself going forward.
As far as recommending this surgery, for me it worked out great and was fairly easy. However, that may not be the case for everyone. I made the decision by realizing it was something I needed to do at late 40’s to improve my health and way of life. I chose not to pay too close attention to the negative reviews because as with any surgery everyone handles it differently.

    Good Luck
