I'm soooo happy yall!!! I have a surgery date of December 18 and I can't wait. I feel a ton of different emotions. I feel excited, relieved, nervous, happy, scared, determined, focused, and the list goes on. This has been a long time coming. This support group is one of the best things to happen to me. Thank y'all so much for sharing your stories and most importantly, willing and excited to share and help. Thank you.

That is EXACTLY how I have described my gall bladder and appendectomy. Anyway... CONGRATS!!! Are you nauseous? Getting discharged today?
    So exciting!

    Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.
I think it's who you talk to online. Many of us have had positive experiences. An individual's pain tolerance is going to be different for any surgery procedure.
You have experience with prior surgery. I believe you have the right head space with what your pain level will be.
My perspective is the pain was minimal. The surgery was nothing compared to giving birth to a child..lol I was up and walking the day after surgery (helps the healing process) I bounced back quickly. No nausea. I had no appetite.
When you are online at any forum, take what is useful to you.

Besides being in the hospital for 2 full days, and getting torodol for pain those 2 days, I have only had to take 1 Narco since being home. The nausea was terrible. But it has become minimal. I have been sleeping in my recliner since getting home also. I am a live in nanny, so I stayed off the rest of last week but she is 3 1/2, so does not need me to do much for her except feed her! Next week I will start walking with her. Good luck!

My insurance had no appointment requirements. Just a BMI requirement and other conditions (high cholesterol, blood pressure, A1C etc). I have not had my surgery yet but it has gone like this:
    July 11th : Bariatric Seminar
Beginning of August: Surgical consultation appointment with Dr. Joseph who will be performing my surgery. HE had appointments for me that HE required. Somehow the referrals got lost (later found the phone number for me had a typo!!) so the only Appointment I got by the end of August was the psychologist.
    Psychological approval beginning of September.
    First nutritionist appointment mid-September.
Appointment for gastroenterologist consult and to schedule EGD: Mid October.
Second and final nutritionist appointment: October 18.
EGD done last Friday the 20th of October.
    Cardiologist appointment on November 1st.
Travel out of town for pulmonologist since the one here in Tallahassee is scheduling for March! Appointment November 3.
As soon as those last two are done, my surgeon's office will schedule me for December. Most likely the week of the 20th.

Relatively quick I guess after reading here. I think it's really different insurance to insurance.

I even tell strangers. I really dislike the stigma and find that explaining it to people increases acceptance. Everybody at work knows but we are a close knit group anyway.

I'm still experiencing soreness, I feel like if I move too much or sneeze too hard, my stomach is going to pop, lol. I have the option to work remote as well but I manage a team and feel more valuable in the office.

    Best of luck to you
