  1. Relax! As my surgeon is fond of saying, this is one of the most routine forms of major surgery out there. Only a fraction of a percentage have problems which is statistically insignificant. There will be some foods that you may no longer like after surgery. For me, I cannot stand french fries, pizza, or soft pretzels anymore - those were some of my favorite foods. Just the thought of them is enough to make my stomach turn. I also don't like flour or wheat tortillas anymore - I just cannot digest them. I find I really crave the more nutritious of options. I haven't tried steak but I do okay with burgers and I like chicken. When you get to eating regular foods after surgery, you may be pleasantly surprised. I really like how I don't crave junk food anymore.
  2. The itchy incision factor is pretty common. I would try my best not scratch at them but gave the hell up. At least as they heal up, it gets better.
  3. Sue them out of existence. This is illegal!
  4. I laugh because that's exactly how I felt. I kinda said to my self sarcastically, "Well this is a pleasant surprise .... not!"
  5. I was told to use sweet potatoes or yams instead of regular white potatoes. If I recall correctly, it has to do with the lower glycemic load of the sweet potatoes. They didn't negatively effect my weight loss at all.
  6. I came to the same conclusion about Cookies and Cream. I though it would be a really amazing taste and I was really and truly disappointed!
  7. Hey! Speaking of bariatric muffins ... that reminds me. I found a protein waffle at the local supermarket. The brand name is Kodiak Cakes. 2 of them have 280 calories and 15g of protein and only a total of 25g of carbs. Very filling an delicious!
  8. LOL! Slow down there ... no love yet but I do like her. She understands the importance of staying focused to achieve weight loss and does med student rounds with a bariatric surgeon. That's why I am excited but have to temper it a little. I don't want to get my hopes up, especially because I am not working yet and still have progress to make. I am starting driving for Schneider National on August 6th. I have to be over 120 days post-op, before Schneider's medical team will clear me.
  9. Smart way to go about it. I think I am going to adopt your philosophy. No more than 60.
  10. This happens! It's happened to me but it isn't true weight gain. Do you know the gargantuan amount of calories that you'd have to eat in order to truly gain that? It's probably just water or whatever. I remember when I had my last check in appointment and discovered I had lost a whopping 6 inches off of my waist and I was down in the dumps because I felt I wasn't making progress. Hang in there!
  11. I know right!? It's funny because yesterday, I drastically cut the carbs back and got constipated. Good thing I took some colace before bed. I also had some fruit before bed and some this morning for breakfast. That got things going again. Holy cow!
  12. Atheists believe in emotions like love!
  13. How's everyone doing? I am honking along but not losing weight as fast as I liked so I went back to tracking and discovering some nasty little carbs that have mysteriously come back. Hoping to get back on track. I'd like to drop 10 more pounds before I start driving a truck again. At least I am not gaining which is important!
  14. I was a volunteer EMT and I have seen people in various states of death and decline. One of my patients looked up at me and said, "I think I am going to die now." He had a DNR order so we didn't use CPR or an AED. He had a big smile on his face as he died and I knew his suffering was over. It is this patient that helped me to lose my fear of death.
  15. Man you lost quickly! I am not far as far along as you are and I still don't eat very much at all.
  16. Pretty much sums it up. Work on "you" first and then start seeking out a relationship. Relationships are stressful if you aren't completely in a good place.
  17. I hate french fries now! To me they taste awful.
  18. This is why I am really not actively pursuing any kind of relationship. I wouldn't mind a friends with benefits arrangement, but man, the only commitment I need is that to myself right now; to see this journey to its natural completion at goal weight.
  19. LOL, guys! Y'all are too funny.
  20. Spoke with the medical pros and they're not alarmed. So long as I am getting my fluids in and there are no issues getting them out, it's just something that may or may not pass.
  21. Good choice! I actually like that sandwich. I don't touch fries anymore because they actually taste kind of gross. I love a good burger with lettuce, tomato, and onion. They are soft, go down easy, and typically last me two meals. I can really only get half of it down.
  22. If I drink water too quickly, I start feeling a really warm sensation ... like I need to turn on the air conditioning. I feel really hot. Is this something that should be concerning? Also, I can no longer tolerate the fake sugar in beverages - they're causing me to run to the bathroom. I am just drinking water and the occasional decaf coffee or decaf unsweetened ice tea. Jeez, this whole process continues to be an evolution and learning rolled into one. I'll be 3 months post-op on Tuesday.
  23. I am not going to ask her. It would really awkward for her and I don't want to put her in that situation. I can dream though, can't I?
  24. I plan too. Hell, YOLO right!?
  25. The major upshot of losing the amount of weight that I have is that I am really looking good now, for the first time in a really long time. I am still heavy, but I look really good now. I feel more confident and now I am really freakin' horny. Fapping just isn't doing it for me anymore. It's frustrating! I am supposed to see my surgeon for a follow-up this week and she is major eye candy - more so than her bio picture. It's gonna be bad, she's got to know I am interested because I stare at her legs. She's in her late 20s, unmarried, and no boyfriend. I've got game and part of me wants to see how much of it I got back. Shoot, maybe I'll be just stupid enough to ask her out ... LOL! Got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Plus she's totally my type, she'd look good on my arm. She can work on me any day. I've got a weakness for highly educated, smart women.
