  1. I have regained a bit as well and have been wanting to do the two week reset. I have heard from others that it works, but am not sure myself. I keep telling myself "I'll start tomorrow" then lunch rolls around and I am so hangry that I give in to food and not the shakes. I don't have a "team" and have never really had one. My doctor's office has always seemed uninterested and very in and out. The last time I talked with my doctor about the weight gain, they suggested I take Multivitamins and do some crunches. I have IC so going to the gym is difficult for me, so I feel like the reset would be most beneficial. When I finally do start, I will share my results.

  2. I'm a little over a year out and wasn't too big to begin with, so weight loss wasn't as huge, but I was down from 230 to 167. I went to the dr yesterday and weighed 190. I have been going to the gym, which is also hard for me to do since I have IC and working out causes flare ups. (Anyone else with IC on here?) I do eat bad sometimes, but have stayed on track for the most part as most "bad" foods also cause a flare up. And every Protein Shake I have tried for the past few months have been making me SO nauseous. Anyone have any suggestions? I wear a size medium in tops and a 10/12 in jeans. Although my size hasn't changed, the pounds have and I feel like you can see it. I have been so down about it and have been strict with what I eat. I need tips and motivation :(

The best way to determine if and for how much an item will sell is to go on eBay and search an item you have (brand, size,) and look on there. For example, Lane Bryant Jeans 20. You can also search for sold listings and/or completed listings to see if the item actually sold and for how much.

I do this when I am selling stuff and it helps me decide whether to sell or donate. I usually start all my auctions at $2.99 to $4.99 plus buyer pays shipping since that generates more bids. You also have an option to place a "Buy It Now" option for someone that does not want to wait a week for an auction to end. If I use Buy It Now it is usually for higher end and/or new with tags items. Shoes and purses also sell well.

Good luck!! I am listing a bunch of stuff this weekend!!

    Thank you!!

  4. My highest weight has been 230 lbs, and I am now down to 170. I'm about 30 lbs away from my goal weight, but honestly, I'm pretty happy with where I am right now. Of course I want to get as close to my goal weight as possible, but I am grateful for what I have lost so far. I'm pretty happy with where I am now, but of course would want to lose more! I was at 174 for about 3 months and have just lost the 4 in the past two weeks.

Not sure if I should be responding or asking a question. I was sleeved May 2016 ,I attained my goal weight within 6 months postoperative. Now feeling good about myself I feel less restriction and think I can stuff anything in my face. My weight goes up and down within 10 pounds within a week. I am hard headed and will pop 3 stool softeners or laxatives to help "cleanse" myself. I'm a moron I think, not cool to do that daily which I do sometimes for months at a time. Just need some advice I'm a snacker too ,which doesn't help. Thanks for reading

I'm a snacker too. I've been trying different kinds of chips from Quest Nutrition. A little pricey I think, but worth the money. I've also been trying the Chobani Flip Greek Yogurts. They have a bunch of different flavors and I like that that the flip tray always has something crunchy in it. I am not sure if you are the same way, but I when I snack I always crave a "crunch". I can understand the laxatives thing, because that is what I would do to lose weight for the surgery. Just be careful and don't let worrying about losing weight make you sick. I think a cleanse is good every now and then but doing it too often can be harmful. What kinds of things do you snack on?

  6. I was extremely bad at drinking Water when I had just gotten out of surgery.. The nurses would scold me but I just could not drink as much as they wanted me too. Gatorade was my best friend when I got home. Even taking tiny sips at a time will help you recover and build your strength.

This is some of the most valid, straight up honest advice you are likely to receive here. The VSG is great, but you have to own your part of the responsibility. Im a year out and restriction is lessened. On the weekends, im very likely to cheat and have alcohol or a food that is indulgent, but during the week i am eating small and mostly Protein. Its worked for me, but i can see where it wouldnt be hard to fall off the wagon. Im currently in a 4 lb swing back and forth, but i can live with it, because Im the same weight i was when i graduated high school, 30 years ago.

I agree, the sleeve is a great tool but it's up to how we use it! It is very hard to fall off the wagon. There always seems to be someone's birthday coming up, a holiday, etc...

That is great that you are at a great weight! I have about 36 more lbs to go before I get my goal. Was your weight loss steady over the past year or did you fluctuate?

  8. What sleevers need to know:
After 6 months the tight restriction starts to fade. At about a year or more out you will definitely be able to hold more food. Understand your stomach is not back to full size. Only a small percentage of sleeves that need revision.
The problem is when people confuse grazing with stomach capacity/stretching. If you eat several meals with excess calories. (Can be healthy or unhealthy food choices) you will start seeing weight gain.
I can easily get in 3000 calories in a day if I graze. The sensation is as if I didn't have surgery at all.
Surgery does not take away hunger for most of us. You will feel head and real hunger. Eating sugar and carbs will make you crave them more and increase your hunger level. .
My disclaimer: low carb is not everyone's weight loss plan. (carbs may/will increase maintaining and higher fitness level. ( if you gain go back to low carb or your plan)
If you are struggling with the extra space and hunger :
Some tips to keep you full and satisfied within your calorie range. (I'm not a medical professional this is just my experience/opinion)
    • increase your Protein goal.
    • Add veggies. The bulk and Fiber will help fill the increased stomach volume
    • Detox off carbs and sugar.
    • Keep healthy sweet and salty Snacks on hand for cravings
    • night snacking or head hunger - Buy a veggie tray. If you are at the end of your daily calorie allotment for weight loss mode. Eat from your veggie tray. If you try to bargain with yourself for another option then you know its head hunger.

I love the veggie tray idea! I knew that around 6 months I would be able to eat more, but it just feels so weird being being able to eat a few extra bites! Definitely something I'll have to get used to after being able to eat so little for so long. I'm a grazer and trying to break that habit. [emoji20]

I seriously don't think I have restriction anymore. I have to force myself to eat on plan, which is so hard, because if I could do that consistently, I wouldn't have needed the surgery.

I've read a few posts on here from people who can eat almost as much as they used to pre-op. I get thoughts like that too; I could've just forced myself to eat less and not have gotten surgery. But I think the whole process is worth it. Have you talked to your doctor about feeling the loss of restriction? I still get full, but there are some things (current example- Hot Cheetos. I know they are TERRIBLE for you, but have been my comfort food lately) that I can eat a ton of without getting full. Almost 60 lbs of weight loss is great!

I am 6 months out I had the sleeve on October 3 rd. I still can't eat very much. Like today I had 1 egg for Breakfast a Greek low fat yogurt for lunch and a two ounce slice of pork shoulder with about three slices of potatoes and a couple small slices of cooked carrots. However I have not lost any weight in about a week now. That worries me. I have lost 89 pounds so far and need to loose 50 more by Christmas. So that I can have back surgery. Then I still want to loose about 40 more after that. So hopefully I can get going again. I have trouble with my back and lots of knee pain so walking is not an option at this time. Looking for swim classes.

A week without weight loss is not bad at all! You are doing great! I have been stuck at 174 ish for about 2 months now. I'm hoping to get down to around 130, but can't seem to get the scale to move (though the sizes I am wearing keep going down). Swimming would be great! I have back pain and hip pain... I ordered an SI belt from Amazon and man, it is like night and day. My back got instant relief. The one I ordered was around $13.

    Now I feel old [emoji23]
I'm excited to be post op. This process is taking forever but it will be worth it.

No not old at all! Which means you will recover faster! The process took forever for me too because I was having a hard time losing the preop weight. But it definitely is worth it!

I hate the gym haha I am uncomfortable there... But I need to go. I have 2 boxers that get me out and walking everyday so that is good.
I definitely need this tool I am so tired of being the fat one 🤷[emoji23]
130 is only 40 pounds away your so close! How tall are you?
I am sure you will get there! You are doing really well! Do you still have your gallbladder?

Oh girl I hate the gym too! lol I am 5 ft even and still have my gallbladder. I feel like it's a little harder to look like I've lost weight since I'm short but there is definitely a difference between pre op and post op. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? We seem to have a lot of the same stats.. :) we def could help each other!

  13. Yeah I know exactly what you are talking about. I did Keto for about 9 ish weeks. I was also going to the gym 6 days a week.
Yeah this is why I want surgery I have lost and gained that same 30 pounds back way to many times. That is about where I am at 230 I'm hoping to make it down to at least 150 or lower [emoji4]
That's awesome 170 is great I am sure you will continue to loose! Keto was one of the easier diets I had tried honestly.

I'm hoping to get to 130 too, so we pretty much have the same starting weight and goal weight! I know exactly how you feel. I'm hoping the keto diet works for me too. The sleeve is such a great tool! Especially if you are good at going to the gym (which I'm not LOL)
