Personally, I would focus on something that you can maintain for life. Do you really think you can spend the rest of your life eating meat only and no fruits or vegetables?

Constipation is also a major issue post WLS. I don’t think I could manage mine without a lot of fruits and veggies as part of my diet.

I’d argue it’s not even motivation. Motivation comes and goes. Discipline is what gets you to your goals. Doing what you need to do even when you don’t feel like it.

Well he has said he doesn’t have much luck with the ladies. The problem is that he thinks it was because he was fat, when in reality it’s because he has a terrible personality.

I hope you end up feeling like the surgery was a positive thing! I’m not quite 3 months out and had complications as well. I had a gastric bleed, needed a second surgery and blood transfusions, plus had a full liter of blood just sitting in my abdomen.
I’m down 45 pounds today with no lingering issues and feel great. I’m able to do intense exercise in a way I haven’t for years. My complication was super scary and I initially had some regrets, but looking back I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Hang in there! Best of luck to you.

My nutritionist upped me to 1000 calories a day at 6 weeks. I was spinning 5x a week plus chasing two little boys and a puppy and I was feeling lightheaded and super hungry. 3 1/2 months out now and down 55 pounds so I feel like it’s been ok despite my initial fears.

That "negativity" you're talking about might actually be a helpful reality check. What's going on in the back of one's mind who've regained and is going to face "it all again"? Don't tell me that there isn't this nagging fear of "failing again".

Do you know how many people who've regained might be feeling exactly like this? Sometimes reading it written down makes something click in your mind and even if it doesn't there might still be the feeling of "Yes, that's exactly how sh*tty and scary all of this feels. Finally someone understands!".
People need to accept reality and work from there. And the reality is: losing regained weight is hard as f*ck from both a motivational and emotional point of view. There is no use in denying this.
All this "you go girl", "tschakka" and "you're going to nail it" might be some nice cheering on but it's not going to help in the long run either. An "I can imagine how bad you must be feeling!" might be more helpful than all these standard motivation mantras.
My post has nothing to do with "tough love". It has something to do with accepting things like they are. If it's dragging you down when reading it, maybe as yourself why it does that.
You might think that my post was "negative" and that's ok of course but don't project your own feelings you have in reaction to my post onto others. That's not helpful at all for the OP or anyone else for that matter as well.

It more or less happens to everyone. I had surgery on 6/2 and my hair is falling out like crazy too. It should stop before the year mark.

Get rid of them!! In the future, after you are at goal, if you gain a few pounds and your clothes feel tight, it will be incentive to lose the weight. Having bigger clothes as a Plan B, means that you have a Plan B. No Plan B! LOL!! Only Plan A which is success!!

On mine I could only do 3 Protein Shakes a day, plus calorie free Clear Liquids. broth, sugar free popsicles and Jello, etc. It was rough. Lots of people get to do Proteins and veggies though.

I was told the opposite of @bailey3, that regular Vitamins didn’t cut it for Bariatric patients. I take Bariatric Advantage calcium chews and Multivitamin with Iron, but they’re expensive. A nutritionist in a Bariatric FB group I’m in highly recommends the Bariatric Fusion ones. Much cheaper and it’s Calcium and multivitamin on one. I may switch to them when my current vitamins run out.

If you can get through Day 3 it’s much smoother sailing. Pickle Juice saved my life. It helped a lot with my headaches and also sort of bolstered me through tough spots in the day. I just sipped it here and there.

My nut said 800-1000 for months 3-6 to lessen risk of Hair loss, mal nutrition and metabolism distress. That seemed like a lot for a couple weeks. Now I get it no problem. When I hear those lower numbers I wonder if I should be eating less as my WL is slow (about 1.5 pounds a week) but my hunger is increasing since I started walking 4-5 miles a day so I worry I wouldn't be able to feel ok on 400-600. I suppose I'll continue to follow my nut's advise. Something I'm looking forward to is at 6 months my carb number can match my Protein number. I really crave pretzels, fruit and rice so that will be nice.

I think this is highly dependent on your surgeon. I woke up from surgery and was given my thyroid medication, antidepressants plus an acid reducer to swallow within the first couple of hours.

ETA: Gah, sorry. I just noticed this was a super old thread that was bumped.

I would call your surgeon, be honest, and ask what they think. You don’t want to be cut open unnecessarily if they’re just going to send you home. They may say it’s fine and just stick to it from now until surgery.

I reference this chart frequently! I think weight loss is always super fast in the beginning because you lose Water and inflammation. I lost 12 pounds my second week post sleeve and since then it’s slowed down to about 2 pounds a week with the occasional 3-4 pound week thrown in.
