    40 something sleevers?

I'm 49, had my sleeve done at 48 (11.17.17), and have never felt better. I sometimes wish I would have had it done sooner, but I'm not sure I would have been mentally ready.

    Slow losers

I had a starting BMI of 35 as well. I had my gastric sleeve done on 11.17.17, and in the beginning was SO frustrated with slow weight loss! I was exactly the same as you. I would see all of these people posting huge losses and would be so down. I think I had only lost 7 - 8 lbs in the first month, then 12lbs by month 2 - so you are still losing at a faster rate than I was I just had to keep telling myself that even though my weight loss was slow, it was still more that I had been able to do on my own. I am now 7 months out, and 40 lbs down, and even though I have a ways to go, I feel so much better. I still have 17 lbs before I am I normal BMI, but I know I will get there. Just hang in there and trust the process - it will work!
  3. I am 5' 2" and started off at a relatively low BMI (for WLS) of 35 - still obese, and did have comorbidities. I am currently 147lb with a preliminary goal weight of 135, and then I will see how I feel once I get there. I would be thrilled if I could reach 115, but I'm not sure if it is realistic. I had my surgery Nov 2017, and compared to others have lost at a much slower rate, but am extremely happy with my progress so far. I have a small amount of loose skin, but I think that if I upped my exercise, that would take care of itself, either way, not enough to consider surgery I don't think.

    Help? Advice? November 2017 Sleeved

I totally understand! I was sleeved 11.17.17 and to date have lost 25lbs. Some days I get discouraged, but I keep telling myself that I would have NEVER lost this much weight in this amount of time prior to surgery. I agree with FluffyChix to not compare yourself with others (I know this is easier said than done). You are doing great, and you will get there - slow & steady wins the race!

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

If you google halo hair extensions, you can see lots of examples, but basically it is extensions that you slip over your hair, that are on an invisible band (looks similar to fishing line ) and is hidden by your natural hair.

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

Have you considered a halo piece? Very easy to put in, and non damaging. ... just a thought.
  7. I was sleeved in MX with a BMI of 32. I was pre-diabetic, with a family history of diabetes, no other co-morbidities. My US doctor would not consider me unless I was a minimum of 35 BMI with multiple co-morbidities.
  8. I paid $4,100 for my gastric sleeve surgery in MX.

    any November 2017 sleevers?

I am right there with you. I also had my surgery on Friday morning. I will be going home tomorrow & cant wait to sleep in my own bed. Pain has been minimal, controlled with Tylenol. I have been able to get my fluids in - broth, popsicles, water, Gatorade, diluted juice, etc... I can start adding in protein shakes, yogurt and milk starting Tuesday, hopefully that will help with lack of energy. I will be going back to work on the 27th. Hoping everyone else is healing well, and good luck to upcoming surgeries!!

    How long were you out

I'm combining my remaining vacation days/holiday for a total of 11 days off. I work a desk job, so I'm hoping this will be sufficient.

    November 14th anyone?

    Close ... I'm November 17th
  22. I am scheduled for surgery next month with him. Curious how your experiences were?
  23. I am 5'2" and have a BMI of 32, an I am scheduled for surgery 11.17.17. I am insulin resistant, suffer from metabolic syndrome, PCOS, and pre-diabetic. I did not come to this decision lightly, but I have yo-yo'd for many years (Phen-Fen, HCG, Weight Watchers, Keto) you name it, I've tried it, and the weight always comes back. I personally think that this is going to be much less detrimental to my health in the long run than some of the past options I've tried, and not to mention the constant ups & downs. My husband does not think that I need it, but is 100% supportive of my decision. I am ready to take charge of my life.
