monkeyol got a reaction from logicwand in Is the sleeve right for me? BMI 27.4
Hi, I got the surgery when I had a bmi Of 32.
I had surgery on 31st Oct, my weight was 13st 10lbs. As of this morning I weigh 8st 9.6lbs, so I’ve lost 5st in less than 5months!
It was the best decision I ever made and would do it again in a second. For me it got to the point that food was ruling my life, all I did was eat until I was stuffed and then eat some more. I also fractured 2 hips cause of low bone density so I knew I had to get the weight off ASAP so I wouldn’t fracture them again.
The only concern I have now is how to maintain, I’m unable to eat more than about 600-800 cals a day at present and I’m still losing. I will probably try adding shakes in soon to see if that will help me maintain. Other than that it has been plain sailing for me. I had no other co-morbidities but knew if I didn’t do something about it now, I would have so many health related problems in the future!

Heya, I got sleeved Oct 31st (so nearly November) [emoji23][emoji23]
Was so anxious and bawling before surgery. But surgeon was so good and calmed me down. Went down for surgery, next thing I was back in my room about 6pm (I don’t remember my time in recovery at all). Slept all throughout the night, felt no pain or nausea at all!
Day 2 I got the gas pains, up at my collar bones. The paid was awful but kept trying to take deep breaths in like the doc said, and walked the halls of the ward and they dissappeared by the next day. I also started to feel nauseous (didn’t really feel any pain at all, mostly uncomfortable). I could only get about 10oz Fluid in that day and 2-3teaspoons of yoghurt. They kept me on loads of anti nausea meds, pain killers etc but every time I took a sip of Water, my stomach would go into a painful spasm. Day 3 I felt a little better, managed about 20oz of fluid and a bit more food.
Came home on day 4. Pain wasn’t bad at all, only on tynelol when needed. Stomach spasms started to not happen as much (I found I didn’t get as bad spasms when drinking warm peppermint tea). Still couldn’t manage much food, was struggling to get 200/cal a day in. Today I feel so much better tho! (Surgery was exactly a week ago now). I have managed about 40oz of liquid today! And had my biggest meal yet of 2oz puréed potato and 1oz cottage cheese! Was delighted I managed to eat that in one go as up to now it’s only been 2/3 teaspoons I could manage. Not really feeling hungry at all, ie today I forgot to eat until about midday! So will have to set reminders for myself. Hoping it’s smooth sailing from here but feels too good to be true that I feel this good today! Only took paracetamol once this morn and haven’t needed it since.

Just on the way into the hospital now. Am incredibly nervous and second guessing my decision big time. I keep thinking, how has it come to this that I have to get a part of my body removed. I’m incredibly anxious about the GA too. I know why I’m doing this surgery so just trying to focus on the new life I will have after it. Wish me luck

Hey, I'm getting sleeved at the end of the month and just wanted to hear from a few of you that have been sleeved already.
My diet is awful. It's incredibly carb heavy! I know that I will be changing my diet forever now to Keto style.
Did any of you find this really hard? I'm worried I don't have enough will power. Anytime I have tried keto before I have never been able to stick to it. I'm worried that I'm gonna lose the weight and put it straight back on again as I always have

Thanks so much for all your responses and support! Yea I think I will take a step back from family that are being too negative about this. I feel that this is the time I need to have to myself to mentally prepare myself without having to drain myself trying to convince them of my decision and that I'll be ok. All your words mean so much to me, and are helping me to clear my head. This is the right decision for me whether they understand or not
