SeattleLady got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Denied after being approved and devastated
I understand back and forth with the insurance company. Personally, I am hopeful that my new doctor will take the $50,000 plus of testing I have done since April. I am currently waiting on an answer to this very question.
It doesn't make sense to start over.

Okay, I want my sleeve revised or maybe not? I have to go through a 6 month process. I am beeing seen by one of the top bariatric surgeons. So here are some positives:
(1) I have not gain all my weight back.
(2) Having another procedure does not guarantee my GERD will be completely eliminated.
(3) I will work with a specialist for WLS patients with GERD.
(4) Following this lifestyle, I can get healthier and lose more weight.
(5) I am willing to do this for at least 6 months.
(6) My hernia will continue to be monitored.
(7) I will increase my exercise.

SeattleLady got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Sleeve revision to RNY or Bypass reason
I'm at the start over part of this revision process. My first appointment with a new doctor will be on Monday. I was told that it will last 2 hours. The clinic also told me to be "open."
I know what is needed for my health. I have one of the top doctors (that is what I am told). I feel happy and scared.

Most insurance companies use your starting weight. Congratulations, looks like you are well on your way to a new healthy life! Keep us posted on how things go!

SeattleLady reacted to Frustr8 in I can’t date overweight people
And the fact that people can't just snap their fingers to lose their weight DOES NOT MEAN that they are trying. I can testify,i tried every diet out there including some I believe my doctors imagined out of spite. Ate much less food, exercised, had deleted junk foods and sodas already, starved myself I cried myself to sleep at night, malnourished so bady that it was a wonder I didn't die of the imbalances instead of Frank OBESITY. Meanwhile my naturally thin and better BMI cousins are eating like Longshoremen who didn't know if there would EVER be Another Food Shipment! Took Bypass surgery to help reset me and my BMR. And now I look pretty fine for My Age but naked, you can see the ravages Obesity did upon MY BODY. And I did ask my doctors if Plastic Surgery could be in my Future. The response was trifold---
1. Am I really That Vain?
2. I am Too Old (73)
3. No Surgeon in or approaching His Right Mind who lift a finger to help ME because I AM AN IRON-CLAD SURGICAL RISK!
But Never say I was obese from lack of Dietary Commitment or Compliance--- I LIVED IT AND I KNOW BETTER, So Help Me GOD!

5 years ago today was my VSG. What a journey. I'd do it again in a blink. I'm forever grateful. I had regain, had a health scare and got back on track. Lost my regain. Even though I have about 25 lbs to go until my plastics, I KNOW I would have never done this on my own. I am almost without the words of gratitude to my surgeon and team. Although my insurance changed and I can't see him anymore, I think about my experience all the time. It seems like yesterday. So much has happened since then, but WOW what an incredible time I've had.

SeattleLady reacted to pssk in Gastritis and RNY
I wonder why they don’t just get rid of that remnant. They throw away the rest of the stomach with vsg. Lol. Sounds funny throwing away stomachs.
I’m hoping that the diet change and hopefully reduction in meds will rid me of gastritis for good!

People lose their regain without more surgery! It IS definitely possible!!! You can do this!!!
Especially since re-surgeries don't always have as much success from a weight regain as the original virgin surgery. And weight loss they say is slower for re-surgeries. Don't know if any of that is true or not, but I've seen MANY MANY MANY vets successful lose the regain by going back to their old low carb forever diet they followed right out of surgery and getting active again and planning, weighing/measuring/reporting-logging every bite that goes in their mouth.
It's quite inspiring. I wish you well and will be cheering for you. Maybe it's even possible with weight loss, the GERD will calm down.

WTG! Sounds like a great plan! Be sure to contact them if your symptoms get worse!!! Make em document EVERY little thing. I've never ever ever heard of anyone being made to wait 6 months for a medically necessary revision. Especially one involving active GERD that could cause Barrett's or erosion or ulceration, etc...at any time. I'd be that darn squeaky wheel they want to move along in the process!!!! ((hugs))

Thanks! I had the same arguments. However, I looked at some of his studies. He is one of the first doctors I can trust, "well a little." Tips so far, "eat slower, move more (I been counting my steps for awhile) I had stopped pushing forward and remember why I did this in the first place. Well, I added the last one. I will tell him if things get worse. They are monitoring me monthly starting Tuesday. I have an appointment with gastroenterologist bariatric specialists. This is my journey:

Home from the hospital. I'm fairly sore but it hasn't been too bad. Knowing what to expect as far as needing to walk for the gas pain and small sips to drink helped. Trying to get comfortable to rest has been the hardest part.
