Fibro Queen got a reaction from Frustr8 in Sneezing and Other Weird Signs Your Pouch is Full
yep - - - I get the hic-ups (which I did not have before my sleeve) or some lumber jack size belching. So unlady-like!! And there have been times, like recently after Thanksgiving and Christmas when I JUST HAD to have a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and a little bit more of this over here. Like I've never had mashed potatoes before? Geez! I'm down to 162 from 279, why would I want to kill myself over a tablespoon of mashed potatoes? Because we don't have giblet gravy every day, that's why! So, on those days when holiday meals are a feast, I will Sneeze, Hic-up, Belch, Cough, and then of course I will have to visit the bathroom to void before I wet myself. But, as long as I am careful I will not spuke. It's like my system is testing all it's warning drills, but doesn't go any farther.

I eat most of what you mentioned, except rice. My Dr doesn't want me to have that. says it continues to "suck liquids" so I could only eat a teaspoon if I ate any at all, but better to not have it at all

Fibro Queen got a reaction from pretty pegie in Did your Dr tell you No STRAWS? No SODA?
Well, I'm 2 weeks out on my sleeve surgery, and sure enough the pain is pretty much over and the craving thoughts for a Sprite have returned. What I fear the most is the weekend of Nov 9th when my brother-in-law gets married and we join the entire family in Dallas and eat out alot. This means BBQ and Mexican. I know I can handle eating ok. But drinking without a straw or having Sprite! Oh My Goodness!! I may be in trouble. What have others of you been told by your Dr's?

Hi, this is prob to late to help you, but I struggled with taking vits and my surgery is 9 months out (had Oct 2017). My surgeon told me to take prenatal WITHOUT Iron as the iron is often the problem that causes the issues. Then of course you have to get your iron through your diet. Begin by cooking everything in a cast iron skillet. You can sometimes find chewable iron if you need that. Currently, I must admit I am not taking my vits. The taste just makes me ill. But my last labs were just fine, so I am doing ok. (thankfully) I wouldn't suggest this for everyone however.

my hair was naturally thin, so I figured I would be bald. I couldn't stand the Vitamins, they made me sick, so I stopped taking them. I do take Vitafusin B12 and Spring Valley Hair Skin and Nails. I have had no Hair loss. I have been very surprised. good luck ladies.

Meguone, I hear ya! I mean we would need like 36-40 hours a day to get in the amount of liquids that the docs want us too! And I love the caramel shake too btw . But......when said shake give you the steadies with the bathroom, and milk products leave you weary, you and coffee are no longer friends and Water has long since left you feeling blah what does that leave you? I have actually found "Protein2O" It is a 15gram Protein water with no carbs, 3 flavors at Sams and some convenience stores (in my area Caseys). I like both the berry and Coconut. Might give you an option.

So far I have tried 3 chewables - - - blah blah blah!!! so, I ordered 2 gummies , yeah, that didn't work either. They just gummed up in my teeth. Did not dissolve well at all and the taste was awful! Sorry to say, I got all from this site. I do need to say that I am on 'Raglan' for excessive nausea and vomiting with just small amounts of food, so my Dr thinks I have some scar tissue in my esophagus from my hiatial hernia repair that was done when my sleeve was completed. I have an upper GI scheduled DEC 8th to determine. SO.........long story short my Dr has approved me to try capsules early (instead of waiting until 6 months per his time line). What are others issues?

Hi, I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. I know this will sound so mechanical but it will get better. First, call your Dr for something to help with your nausea. There is no reason to feel so bad. I use a nonflavored Protein Drink called GENEPRO. I add it to my espresso every day. You need to get your nausea under control. Focus on getting your fluids in and push that Protein hard. It doesn't take long for us to dehydrate. Are you sick before or after you eat or drink? Check with your Dr. You could have a Stricture. ( kind of like scar tissue) not to worry if it is there is an easy fix. They do an Endoscope and use a balloon to dilate your Stoma. Not trying to make problems where there isn't one but explore all of your options. Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing. BTW I also have Fibromylgia and my surgery has actually helped me some. So that might be something that helps you too.

At 23 days (or 2 weeks for the previous post), you are still awfully busy on the inside, recovering from major surgery. don't kid yourself cause you only have teeny incisions, there was major work involved. And your intake of calories is low. Combine the two, it's no wonder you haven't any energy.
it's possible your "carbs are way too low". Surgeons differ widely on their postop recommendations re: carbohydrate, but your brain relies on carbohydrate alone for fuel. You need SOME carbs.
I'm six weeks out today. I went back to work April 11. I still don't have my usual energy level, but I do notice with time and with the gradual increase in calories recommended by my surgeon (she wants me at 600-800 until week 8, then 800-1200 after that) that it's improving. This week is the first few days I haven't needed a nap after work + 1 hr. commute.
Rest when you need to, and give your body time to heal.

I would evaluate your Protein and Water intake. Make sure you are getting at least 70g of Protein in on a daily basis. The protein is what gives you energy. It's so important!!
The other thing I will tell you is that sometimes it takes a while for your body to adjust. I didn't wake up after surgery feeling great. It took me about 2 months to get back to normal and to have energy again. Even though you only have a few little incisions on the outside you just had a major surgery. Your body and mind need time to adjust.

I am a month and 5 days post-op and have only lost 10 lbs. My surgeon said we should lose an average of 20lbs a month. I was losing more weight before the surgery than after! I'm starting to feel like I made a mistake. I'm also having trouble getting in my 64 oz of Fluid in a day because I can't drink fast. I was trying to eat based on the diet given by the Dr. but having to wait an hour was making it even harder to get the fluid in and I was becoming dehydrated, I actually still am a little, so I've quit trying to eat at all during the day just to get the fluid in. The Dr said if we didn't eat right now it was ok we could have Protein Shakes here and there but he really wants me off the shakes by now if possible and to be eating. I'm just so frustrated that the weight loss slowed after surgery! WTH?

Update: ok so I drank my 11oz of Premier Protein Carmel and it was goooooood. BUT!!! It took me roughly from 1pm till almost 8pm to do it. On week too where I get mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurt and pudding.
I did the math so bare with me. I have averaged getting up around 10-11am since hubby has been home all week. If I’m up at 11am, I have to drink FOUR oz of Water per hour which means, 11am sip, sip, sip. 11:15 am, sip, sip, sip. 11:30am sip, sip, sip. You see where km going with this. I’d have to stay up till about 3am to get in the 64oz they want us to get in????? Even if I get up at 8am, I’d be up till about 1am. HOW IS THIS RIGHT? And I’ve thrown popsicles in which are only 1.5oz each.
My stomach has barely been able to hold 40oz and for that I seriously have to push it in,almost to the point of getting sick. I know they don’t want us to be dehydrated, which I’m not. Urine looks great, still no BM, but all I’ve had is water and we started adding the Mirolax to it today. But come on, 64oz of liquid? ????? [emoji24] [emoji24]

I've been on Cymbalta for years. I have tried 3 times to get off of it - - just can't. I works great for my pain. I didn't really have weight gain from it. I did from other meds and issues (broken leg, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, essential tremor disease and on and on)

I'm on week 1 of pureed food. After a month of liquids it's like heaven! I have done chicken breast and cut up fine, putting in baggies with broth marked 1 1/2 TBL. That way I can reheat easily no matter what hubs is eating. Last night added a little bit of sliced carrot and apple 😍😍. I don't know what was the best. I've done fish sticks, removing crumbs and it was wonderful. I did not get do well with eggs, so cottage cheese is my go to at the moment for breakfast.
