    Favorite Broth?????

MG1776 thank you for the info!! I won't over think the broth situation at this point.
  2. Fortunately, since my BMI was under 50 I did not have to be on a pre-op diet. Today I have to be on clear liquids (which I can certainly handle vs. 2 weeks of it). Extremely excited for tomorrow but more nervous than I thought I'd be. This board has been an amazing place for comfort and information. Keep me in your prayers please
  3. Aww best wishes Taci!!!!!! WE FINALLY MADE IT!!!!! Nerves are normal I'm quite sure but I know it will all be worth it
  4. Same to you Sosewsu61!! Best of luck to you tomorrow and see you on the other side!!!!

    What is your Pre-OP Diet?

Mine is the exact same as you RickM. It's just like what I did before my colonoscopy.

    Reason for missing work??

I told my boss it was for a "personal surgery". He won't ask further because he knows if I wanted him to know I would have told him
  8. I am seriously about to have a breakdown. I went in to my pre-op appt and my doctor was reviewing my blood work and it shows that my potassium is high. He said we will need to re-test this the morning of surgery and I said well what does that mean, could it affect my surgery? And he said yes, if your numbers are still high we would cancel surgery that morning. And I'm like OMG!!! WHAT?????? And I said well what are the chances of it coming down by Tuesday (my surgery date) and he looked at the rest of my blood work and said that my kidney numbers are better than his so he thinks it is probably just an issue with how they drew my blood at the lab. I said I would like to get re-tested NOW, I don't want to wait until Tuesday morning right before surgery to find out so I went and got my blood re-done and I let the lady know that this is for surgery and the last lady went into my arm three separate times until she got blood and I don't want the same thing happening again. So she got blood the first time and now I wait.............................Prayers please!!!!!!

    feeling bummed

I have come to realize from being on this site that every surgeon is different. I have gained 20lbs since my consult to now which has been 10 months total, 6 of which was my 6 month diet (which didn't work for me) and then three months of sending requested paper work from my doctors office to the insurance company and the review time it took). At any rate, I went in for my pre-op appt yesterday and the surgeon never mentioned a word about my weight gain. As long as insurance approved it, he is good to go. It's a shame some surgeons are such a pain when it comes to this.
  10. My potassium came back today at 4.6 so I am good to go Thanks for calming me down yesterday!!!!! So very much appreciated!!!!
  11. Now that I think back to our conversation he wasn't one bit worked up about it and I had to ask him what would happen if the potassium came back high or he wouldn't have even mentioned not having surgery.........I wish he would have told me not to over worry about this.
  12. eden30, Thank you for your words. I have been reading about it NON STOP since it happened and I pray you are right. I wish it wasn't mentioned to me at all and he just asked me to re-do the potassium test.....but I will do my best to remain calm. Thank you again!!

    New subbie!

I saw pictures of myself that my sister-in-law took while we were on vacation and literally couldn't believe how fat I was. I realized then and there that this isn't who I want to be any longer and decided it was time for a change once and for all.
  14. My surgery isn't until the 24th of this month however the more I read the more I am seeing that most people experience extreme nausea after surgery. How long does this usually last if its true and is there anything they can give you? I have heard this is the worst part of the surgery is the nausea?

    Coming off cpap

Ugh......no surprise really, I figured they would. But thanks for letting me know.
  16. Oh that's great to hear.
  17. MarinaGirl, Yes, I have had general anesthesia many many times and I never have gotten nauseous however from the sounds of it I wasn't sure if this particular surgery was the cause of the nausea or if it was just how some people react to anesthesia?

    Coming off cpap

I can relate BunnyJean I HATE MINE TOO!! I haven't worn mine in two weeks. It makes me feel worse the next day rather than better. I am returning it once surgery is over. I just am making sure they don't make me bring it to the hospital with me and then if I tell them I don't have it anymore I worry they may end up cancelling my surgery so I'm hanging onto it just in case. My surgery is 10/24.
  19. Thank you all for the great information
  20. Great thanks for letting me know

    Aetna Insurance denied & Appeal

Hmmm, this doesn't sound right. I also have Aetna and I gained 10lbs during my 6 months "dieting". I was approved two weeks ago. I would call Aetna and try to get to the bottom of this. Doesn't make much sense to me.
  22. That's amazing and great news
  23. Chrissy43, Glad you are feeling better today. Are you having or have you had much nausea?
  24. I had my band put in in 2012. I lost 50lbs then I started to have major acid reflex, here there was too much liquid in the band. They ended up taking it all out and I gained all my weight back plus 40 POUNDS Beyond devastated. Scheduled to have my band removed and sleeve conversion on 10/24/17. Praying I am able to lose all my weight but it is scary once you try a bariatric surgery and it doesn't end up working the way it should. My doctors office no longer performs lap band surgery. Wish I was self-pay when I got my lap band and paid $17,000. To have it come out and not have worked is just so mind boggling. Such is life I suppose........
