    Minnesota?

Lyngolean I had Dr Luthra too. He was great. My sleeve surgery was June 22nd so I’m on day 15 postop. Still on full fluids but doing well. The worst thing for me was neck pain. The surgery was really long due to an unexpected hiatal hernia. So my neck was cranked for about 5 hrs. Took a full week before the pain went away. I can’t exercise for 6 weeks so I’m doing a lot of walking. Looking forward to Pureed food starting next Friday. I’m planning a Mexican theme - refried beans, guacamole and Pureed salsa.

    Fit Bit anyone???

I’ve sent a friend request to all who shared emails. Does anyone know how to join us all into a group? Also how do we do challenge or add goals? I’m on restriction from too much activity due to a hiatal hernia - can walk but not strenuous activity for 6 weeks. But I’d love to set a step goal - say 10% more steps than your weekly average

  6. One week clear fluids, two weeks full fluids including cream soups, one week puréed, one month mashed, one month soft and then finally normal. So three full months modified. I’m eagerly awaiting tomorrow when I move to full fluids!!!

No I don’t think they are. The pain was/is not too intense. It’s weird not feeling any hunger at all. I’m focused on measuring that I’m getting my fluids in while still consuming some calories. I’m proud I’ve taken in 74oz today and over 100 calories. I know that sounds ridiculously too low but it’s temporary. It’s so hard to consume calories when all your clear fluids are so low cal. I move to full fluids on Friday so look forward to that. One bit of advice - if you don’t need the narcotic pain killer don’t take it. I’ve always been too loopy on them so said no to the oxy. Turns out the surgeon said his patients that use only Tylenol recover quicker. Of course everyone is different and surgeries differ too so if it’s needed take it. But just know the pain passes quickly.

The last few weeks before are tough. I was anxious and excited at the same time. Mine was done at Methodist Hospital. They were great.

Krista I just finished my surgery with Dr Luthra. I agree he was great! Mine was very unexpectedly complex as I had a massive hiatal hernia growing all over the lapband. As he explains it he went a millimeter at a time. The surgery took 4-1/2 hours. I’m now day 3 and doing great!
  10. They did take me off the glibiside before the pre-op diet and then the metformin two days before surgery. Now I’m on day three post op and monitoring my levels. So far all normal without anything. Once I start adding food that may change but so happy with this so far! It’s been a long time since my morning sugar was well within the normal range!
  11. I’m two days post-op. Feeling pretty good. My scars and stomach don’t hurt too much. But my neck is killing me. I went into the hospital with a kinked neck and headache and it hasn’t stopped. I’m assuming it’s due to the position my head was in during surgery with the breathing tube but it still hurts. I’m taking Tylenol for pain - probably would stop that if my neck stopped hurting. Plus using a heating pad on my neck once in awhile. Getting about 40oz of liquid - 1oz at a time.

    Surgery is today!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I’m doing really well. The surgery was complicated. The surgeon discovered a massive hiatal hernia grown all around my lapband. Also the lapband was growing into my diaphragm. It took 3-1/2 hours just to remove the band and hernia then another 1-1/2 to do the sleeve. However my recovery is going great. I was able to come home the day after so got some decent sleep. My only real pain right now is in my neck - probably was cranked back so long with a tube in it. Otherwise doing well. Sip sip sip!
  13. So all the easy stuff is done. Now the work starts! After all the pre-op appointments, being poked and prodded multiple times, and finally surviving this horrific pre-op diet all I can say is BRING IT ON! HW: 270 SW: 241 CW: 241 GW: 185
  14. In the past when I had been banded for 1 year I stalled for quite awhile. I was also textbook perfect on my diet. My answer was to amp up my exercise. I started the couch to 5k learn to run program. Over 10 weeks I progressed from 30 seconds of running to 20 minutes nonstop and then in one more week I was running 45 min nonstop and doing 5km. This chewed through the stall and got me to my goal. Fast forward 10 years and a slipped band and arthritis, I’ve now regained most. My VGS surgery is this week. I know I’ll have stalls again, without the ability to run. So I’m going to swim instead. My advice - keep going on your nutrition plan and amp up the fitness.
  15. I’m on day 8. Mine is 3 shakes, broth, coffee and sf jello. Plus I can have milk instead of a shake. I use my milk in the morning coffee and then to add to the shake to cut the sweetness. Then I sip on broth when I need a flavor hit. Hate jello so that’s not happening. By day 3 it got much better. Keep at it. Well worth it.
