ohgeeasleeve reacted to Sherry Rice in Sleeved and sent home
WOW! Im so shocked. I live in Dallas but didnt have surgery here. I had my sleeve, stayed in the hospital for 2 days then spent 2 days in a hotel where the doctor came to see me there each day. I cant imagine going home so fast. Im so glad everything went well for you.

If you don't have complications I could certainly see going home the same day.
My first day I was extremely high on narcotics, but from them on I've basically felt fine and would've had no issues going home.
I ended up staying a few days for unrelated complications from anesthesia but other than that pain was extremely manageable with no nausea and vomiting.
Walk enough (and have a good surgeon) and the gas won't be that bad either.

I was sleeved this past Tuesday at a surgery center about an hour from my house. Once out of recovery, we went home and I really don't remember much about recovery or going home. It is all a blur. To be honest, day 1 after I got home was rough. I had a tremendous amount of gas pain and nausea. I dry heaved and vomited a few times that day. I also had a very hard time getting comfortable because of the gas. Day 2 was so much better. I threw up that morning after I forgot to sip Water and drank too much too fast. But other than nausea here and there, I was much more comfortable. I had my post op appt on day 3 and all was good but he told me to stay on Clear Liquids for an extra day because of all the nausea.
Looking back, I would still choose to do it again outpatient. Even though I was uncomfortable and nauseous, I don't think being in the hospital would have changed that. My surgeon gave us his cell number and was quick to respond when my husband texted him some questions.
Good luck with your surgery!

My pre-op diet starts Nov 7...just three days left of eating like a fat girl...or what I've considered "normal."
I'm sure this topic has been done to death but...what was/will be your "last" meal?

If your self-paying, then the process should be much faster but I would stay on top of it with weekly or bi-weekly phone calls. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. :-)

I was self pay and had my date before preop testing, in fact I had a date before I put my deposit down. The hospital required all blood work to be less than 30 days old. I hope you have a date soon!

The sleeve was performed by Dr. Adam B. Smith. The upper GI series was performed by Dr. Ferrara, a surgeon and partner at the same practice (Ultimate Bariatrics).

I was super nervous for this too but do not remember a thing from the actual procedure. A little sore throat was the worst of it. No worries!

I just had egd last week. It was a breeze. It was the best sleep I've had in years. The prep for test is worse than the exam.

ohgeeasleeve got a reaction from OutsideMatchInside in How long does a "free" insurance check take?
I took your advice. The first office I called the woman was apologetic and said that somehow I got lost in her paperwork and she forgot to forward my info to the insurance verifier and that she was doing it now and I'd hear back today. This was at 1:30. Glad I followed up!
