    Stalls

My stall ended. I did lose 4 more pounds this week. I strictly diet. Low carb. Low calorie, veggies and some fruit, protein. I put everything in my app. I’m way under the guidelines my surgeon asked, but doing my best to up my calories and carbs. Struggling still with digesting most foods.

    Protein bars?

Yeah I️ have a few Atkins ones, those are amazingly tasty. I️ also have tried the quest today for the first time and was impressed! I️ had about 1/3 if the bar as a snack since it is so thick. Got rid of my chocolate cravings. I️ put the rest in a zip lock bag for next time.. power crunch bars are incredible too. Taste like a wafer .

    Protein bars?

That’s a great point, especially since I’ve been experiencing bad constipation lately myself.. going today to purchase a variety of bars.. I’ve been focusing on lots of water and I have benefiber powder , although that didn’t seem to help much this weekend when I was desperate. Thank you.

    Disappointed by food

I couldn’t agree more. I’m about 7 weeks out and nothing tastes good. Still can’t hold down most things , and on solids now. I’m okay not finding foods appealing. It’s helped my issues with food. I do wish I would enjoy some things, and I know in time I will. You will too. We got this . Each doctor is different, but mine says to eat anything I want within my 700 cals and 100 carbs. Only I don’t even get in a small fraction of that. It’s fine ... like someone else said, listen to your tummy.
  6. Yes Monica!!! I’m 5 weeks post op and dying to eat real food. Healthy food but real food!!
  7. I’m sure I’m not alone in this as I’ve watched so many YouTube videos of people this happens to. Sadly after surgery , people in my life seemed to disappear. Maybe it’s all in my head and they are just busy? I realize that food is a huge part of life and most social events, but my friends have seemed to ignore me after surgery. Not in the beginning but I haven’t seen any of them 1 month post op.. it seems like everyone wants that “ token fat friend” in their life to make them feel better... I’ve lost about 40lbs, but I’m still the same down to earth girl. Yes, I can’t eat much, but damn... where did everyone go? Hoping it’s all in my head.. I’m never insecure or paranoid.. and if they wanna leave- their loss. I realize nobody secretly wants their friend thinner and more beautiful than them.. oh well. I’m not like that.

    What happened?

Hahaha! Well! I’m not a flirt, i dress decently conservative and they are also very beautiful women too! So it’s not like they are ugly and I’m the “ hot “ friend.. although I’m the one that looks different.. but they are very pretty too. Plus there is often a house full of people with my friends.. I just don’t have the drama they have. Haha

    What happened?

Thank you. I’m 35, and my friends are married with kids. So it’s not about boys or clubs , but yeah they may use the busy card excuse to not have me around as much since most of our hang outs were either ordering take out or eating too much snacks watching movies... it’s okay. I’m not stressing them anymore. Just sucks you know?

    What happened?

This is absolutely true. There are many over weight people in my life. I’ve always been the one to do what I say I’m going to do, that being said, they all follow my lead when they see drastic weight loss. As for my friends, they have a few pounds to lose too. So you’re probably right. It might make people feel guilty and uncomfortable that I can’t scarf my face with them anymore all day like we used to!

    What happened?

Thanks so much for the kind words.

    What happened?

Oh I never really thought of it this way. Taking fun classes would be a good thing to do. You’re right about friends with different habits than mine. Thank you for your comments.

    What happened?

Thank you for your perspective . This is very true and I hope to meet new people in my lifestyle. I’m going to start attending meetings this week, see how it goes..

    Regret

I went through the same. I felt like death for a few weeks. It’ll get better. The vitamins make a major difference! Plus we had major surgery! Lots of adjustments and stuff.

    Job Interview

I don’t have my 5 wk apt with my doctor until the first week of November. I’ll see what he says. But regardless I definitely have very bad days. So I’m not ready for work... I think after major surgery it’s okay to take time off , if we have the means to do so.

    Job Interview

Oops . I was wrong. I’m one month post op and still feel sick too often to work.. so I’m not going yet.
  18. I’m one month post op . Everything taste different. Eggs are gross although I can eat egg whites fried. I used to be obsessed with eggs. Forget shakes, they are nasty. Artificially sweetened things like Chrystal light, jello, pudding, etc are now too sweet and have a disgusting after taste. I can do refried beans and light mozzarella cheese. (A tiny amount that is) Mashed potatoes are still good . Cottage cheese makes my stomach hurt. Most smells make me gag easily. Haven’t obviously tried most foods yet. It should be interesting when I don’t like anything anymore...hopefully I will. I’m afraid to taste other things .. don’t want dumping
  19. Hi there! My surgery went great! I’m down 26lbs my third week post op. I still do feel sick at times and am learning how to eat and drink slowly. I can’t keep too much down though. My NSV would be ; no more back pain, and I can’t leave out that my feet don’t hurt anymore! I had the worst throbbing foot pain in both my feet and now I can walk and run errands without being miserable. Congrats on your toe nail victory. I hadn’t tried! I just leaned over and saw that Wow I can! However it does hurt my tummy to do much since my incisions are still healing.
  20. Yeah my doctors assistant messed up. No idea why she’d say it. I’ve had dumping a few times and it’s not worth it. Now I’m on soft foods though. So I’m working on that whole thing now..
  21. Hello. I’m 2 weeks post op. Just wondering if we’re allowed to have orange juice? I can make fresh squeezed, but we have some bottled quality OJ in the fridge in which I’m craving. Will the acid hurt my stomach? Any advice?

    Average Weight Loss

I completely agree with you , but at some point when you can’t eat any cleaner or reduce your calories, your body is done. I’ve been through all this as I was once 135 lbs. my diet was strict, but I did put in lots of hours at the gym to maintain this. Most of us don’t burn enough calories in the gym anyhow compared to how much we eat. Now that’s the average person. Maybe not how little bariatric patients consume now. But yes, weight loss is 80% diet. This is true. Plus there are so many other factors like hormones , stress levels and cortisol, health issues , sleep , antiquate water intake, and more.

    Average Weight Loss

The first year after surgery is important. Those who don’t reach goal might be because they start eating all kinds of things. my surgeon told me I’d reach goal in far less than a year and without issue. Especially since I’ve been that small before. I’m even on the “ smaller” side for a bariatric patient. He said due to all my health problems , my fat is hormonal , so once I’m balanced, I’ll easily lose the weight. Time will tell! I’m not one to really worry ahead nor believe one size fits all. But I can’t speak for people who are over 300lbs .. I’m sure I’ll have to work hard once I reach 150-160... I know the drill. SW: 248 CW: 229 GW: 130 Had surgery 9/25/2017..
  24. Congrats!! I’m only 2 wks post op and still have 28lbs until I’m in “ onederland”... can’t wait!!
