  2. I was 57 when I had my RNY bypass. I can't say it has been without complications but each one has been dealt with as its come up. On a positive note I have lost 200lbs in 9 months so the surgery itself has been a great success and nothing was age related. I am not longer diabetic no longer have high blood pressure and have gone from size 32 - 18

  3. I had so many adhesions that it took to surgeon Two and a half hours to break through them and he was almost at the point where he was going to open me the old way but he finally got through and completed the bypass and repaired a hiatus hernia and did a partial gastrectomy all laproscopically so don't give up. It took six and a half hours but it was done and I have lost 93kg in nine months

  4. I'm am four months out and diagnosed with an ulcer and a swollen bile duct. I don't have a gallbladder anymore but they said a stone or slush could be in the duct and that's a tricky one to get to do that's a wait and see. I also had kidney stones week seven and had three surgeries for that. But on the bright side I've lost over 110lbs in four months

  5. Glad to read you BP is normal again. Just be careful of standing up too quickly. I had some issues with postural drop meaning if I did stand to fast the BP dropped really low. I've had the meds reduced twice in four months which is great. I stopped diabetes meds the day before surgery and never needed them again. I hope e everything is going well Em 1

  6. Congratulations! I think it’s great to set goals because it gives us something to work towards & it feels so great to achieve those goals.

I’m almost 10 months post-op. My original goal for a healthy BMI was 140. Now I’m 10 lbs below that & have 10 more left to lose. I haven’t exactly celebrated yet but I dream of one day going to the beach and not be ashamed to wear a bikini/swimsuit. I’m hoping to reach my new goal by New Year’s Day.

    Height: 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
    Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).
Current weight: 130 lbs, 10 lbs away from new goal.
My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

Wow that's a great result so far congratulations. Good luck with your New Years goal. Mine right now is to be 100kg by Christmas but it's a big ask I'm sitting at 114kg so maybe by New Year [emoji3]

  7. I have had a few stalls for various reasons. I had the bypass four months ago and I've lost just over 110lbs but I had further surgeries and each time stalled due to excess Fluid and sleepy bowel Constipation etc. The last time I was not sure usually I add more Protein and Water but this time I had some extra carbs and it seemed to shake things up a bit. I think our bodies get a bit used to it. I lost 2lbs in two days now back to normal. Fluids have played a big part for me if I eat too much salt the next day I will have gained half a pound. What kind of fats are you eating that makes you think it could be that

I can only HOPE to get down to what I was at 19- that was the best time of my life, & I was so active. I got married at 19 actually, & I think I was about 150-155lbs & I’m about 5’8.5” to 5’9”. So was pretty thin! We’ll see though, truly Ide be happy at 170 though! Seriously!
Heres me before my surgery and me now at 6 weeks post op. I think I see a difference but it’s hard when you see yourself daily...I hate that! But I def see it in everyone else’s pics!![emoji12]

  9. I spend a lot of years as a young fat teen then woman. It's sad that so many people do make remarks that further dent your self esteem and make you feel fat and unattractive. I had men who were more than happy to hook up for sex but not in public or in front of their friends. It took me many years to realize that's on them not me but there was a huge amount of damage done. When I met my husband I was big he was recently divorced from a lady who was a size 2. It didn't make any difference one way or the other to him. He has stuck with me through mental illness and depression and loading weight on to 407lbs. Now I am in the 200s and he is so proud and happy for me. We have been together 27 years and had a beautiful marriage and the weight has never been an issue for him other than my health. You look amazing! Keep that confidence and don't settle for less than you deserve. I hope you don't mind d but I showed my husband tour pic and told him the story. He said those men must have rocks in their heads she's beautiful and looks like a real woman who is healthy and not a stick insect lol and the guy on here who said you were a little "thick" must be a bit thick himself.. Thick in the head!

  10. I had no choice because of previous abdominal surgeries and adhesions so I had the RNY bypass four months ago. I have a lot if friends who have had the sleeve and ate happy. I don't personally know anyone who has had the bypass which was why I joined the group. The only one that seems to be a huge issue now is the band. Some with the sleeve choose to revise and have the bypass down the track for various reasons. I'm kind of glad I had the bypass because as the surgeon said I don't need to be doing it again. I had a hiatus hernia that was found and fixed during surgery which was good. Go with what you and your surgeon think is best.

  11. Thank you everyone for the honest feedback. All points make sense to me. I do understand not discussing medical conditions and procedures. I'm just so excited about it I can't keep quiet. [emoji4]

I was so excited I told everybody too. I had a lot of different reactions but now that I am four months out and the losses are visible people are being very supportive and nice about it. Prior to this I used to keep diets secret especially from my mother when she was still with us because I used to feel that she would get judgey about it and too involved. If she was here now I would gladly share this with her and show her how to help me. But then I'm not a kid now lol

  12. My neighbor who is like a stick insect told me she lost 20kg using mind over matter and it's the same reason her boob's are perky because that's how she's told them to be! She wanted me to try it. I said first off your boob's are perky because you are 30 and have no kids second if I could have willed away 200+ lbs I would have done by now! The other ones who annoy me are the ones who say..well done on the weight-loss oh wait you had surgery didn't you? People who think having half your stomach removed or your intestinal tract rearranged is the easy way should try it! I mentally slap people who say it lol [emoji23]
