  1. Not sure I understand. If you are approved for surgery, usually you have about 60 days to start the process. Here in NC, once you have consult & processes, clock stops. I would call BCBS and ask directly for peace of mind. Be sure to note date, time & who you talked to, as well as what they said. Congratulations! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Oh my! my headaches disappeared by morning of day 4. I hope you are feeling better. I take 5 mg of melatonin about 30 minutes before bed. But you have to be laid down in the 30 minutes, or it kind of wears off, IMHO. I have 8 days to go
  3. dreamingsmall, so glad to see your update. I've had many colonoscopies, and all I can say is "good drugs" and it's not bad at all. That being said, its normal to be a bit scared, and when you already feel punk, it's even more understandable. You will continue to be in prayers. Healing & peace be with you!
  4. canuckmd, so glad you've worked out the details and are on your way. I am finding the preop do-able, albeit a bit boring. Giving the surgeon a clear surgical field, with minimal risk for liver laceration is well worth being food-bored I hope you do well! Please keep posting

  10. Congratulations! I'm 10/5. I don't know about gum before, just not after. No straws after. I've been on 2 wk pre op since Thursday. Down 14 lbs. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. Sounds like post op for most things. This will be my 12th surgery. Medication is slow getting out of our systems sometimes. Also, events are huge & we do sort of go, uh now what? As a gramma, it's the journey not the destination! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I'm hopeful we'll all be saying this! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Haylee_d Well done! I hear you about self shaming. I'm so tickled to hear that this gave you a tool to start loving yourself. You are a hero indeed! Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. Protein shakes count as water, per RD. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I agree! I have surgery around the same time as you, and I think it will be a slide to bad habits. The RD suggested baked tortilla chips as a substitute. I thought that was a great idea. Just seasoned a bit. Maybe a bit of asiago. Sometime after 12/2 when real food can be a thing. That said, I need to focus on high nutrient value for long health! 18. Amazon ships to Canada, yes? They have a fair number of protein & bariatric things Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app

  20. I'm on 10/5, but a good recipe is pumpkin soup. You make it with Libby puree, chicken broth (you could use bone broth), a little thyme. At the end, add a bit of f Momat free plain Greek yogurt. It's easier than butternut squash, lots of vitamins. I think post op Iight add unflavored protein powder. Sent from my XT1575 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I'm 5'4" and I have a small frame....but I'm going to stop when I feel and look the best I can!
  22. Well NEWBIE question. How do I get the info into the left side "table", or into the long weight loss ticker? Does it happen on its own? Do I have to "make" entry somewhere? App info isn't that helpful. Thanks!
  23. I looked at the CDC site, which does your weight based on BMI. This is what I got For the information you entered: Height: 5 feet, 4 inches Weight: 130 pounds Your BMI is 22.3, indicating your weight is in the Normal category for adults of your height. For your height, a normal weight range would be from 108 to 145 pounds.
  24. You nailed it. WLS is a tool for better health, not an easy out. While not as heavy as I've been in the past, at 65, the cumulative comorbid conditions are almost all of them. I'm doing because i have metabolic disorder, which is hereditary. It means that my stuff is difficult to keep in balance. BUT, that said, I sometimes answer "whyever would you want to know" as pleasantly as I can. Most people kind of go, oh, well...and it stops the conversation before I get defense. Kudos for being open, and proactive about what you're doing. You will be very successful because you know its a tool,, not a fix, and NOT easy, just different.
  25. I've been diagnosed with fatty liver (NASH) since 1987. I have to be careful, always, about "white" carbs & sugar. Even at my best weight, those things could trigger liver pain. As to how your condition affects it, do you see an endocrinologist? Someone should be able to give you specific type of diet to help with both that and the weight loss. Milk products do contain sugar (lactose), but since I don't like them, I have no experience with how they affect fatty liver. Prayers for a good outcome for you.
