jrsone got a reaction from Melloyellow in Is Watermelon ok to eat?
My wife is 4 weeks out and she loves watermelon. It hasn't hurt her yet.
It's mostly Water so I think it would help towards the Fluid goal too.

jrsone got a reaction from Pearldrop in I'm under 300!
I'm at 299.8 and still have a long way to go but I'm thrilled to be under 300.
I started at 369 (at the beginning of my 6 month program in September) and was at 347 the day I had surgery.
Just wanted to share my happiness.

I tolerate spicy very well. In fact, maybe better than I used to.
I always use hot peppers, hot sauce, anything spicy.

She actually started hot tea yesterday and she's doing pretty well so I'm happy about that.

jrsone reacted to Little Kansas Kitty in Is anyone documenting their Journey on YouTube?
Hi All: Is anyone documenting their journey on YouTube? I love watching videos of weight loss surgery patients documenting their process. I'f you are, could you share your "channel" as I'd love to subscribe to you if you're doing this? I took a few videos first for myself as I think it will be great to look back on a year+ from now. Then, I decided I'd go ahead and share publicly as the ones I've watched of others have been a tremendous help to me. I'm not good at talking (much better with a keyboard) but oh well. It's kind of fun and I think will keep me motivated along the way.

I have this exact same problem. Now it’s just nausea vs, nausea and pain. I still can’t drink straight Water almost 5 mons post op. Has she tried adding something to it, like flavored water additives, caffeine free tea, fruit infused? Also, try different temperatures. I sipped on Bone Broth a lot in the first few weeks. -

Try warm/hot drinks! I had the exact same bubbling/stuck feeling with cold drinks out of the gate. Once I switched to Decaf hot tea/coffee it was a whole different ballgame. I know it kind of stinks to drink warm stuff now during the summer but even just starting out with a cup of hot tea in the morning can help the rest of the day go a lot more smoothly.

Awesome! Our stats are similar.
When I started I was 373.3
Op weight was 343.3
Today is day 5 post op for me.
Looking forward to being in the 3’s myself.
My ideal body weight according to a stupid chart is 170ish. I would be ecstatic at 200!!

Lots of folks go through a little period of mourning and even second guessing themselves after surgery. Give her time. As you know, every week that passes gets a lot easier. Getting back to work might be a surprisingly good thing for her. Staying busy and being with work friends can keep your mind off the big changes and help restore a sense of normalcy.
As far as drinking goes...tiny amounts constantly. It's a pain in the butt...but it gets easier with time.
She'll get the hang of it:)
If you have any concerns about her ability to drink not being normal, keeping in touch with her team about it is a very good idea. They might have suggestions for her, too.
It's lovely that you're concerned and care.

I'm pre-op so I have no advice for her as to her Water intake. As for her emotional state, I would like to offer her encouragement and send positive thoughts her way. Sounds like she has a lot of support!

I would echo seeing a therapist. With a combo of hormones and the changes you are going through, its a mixture for situational depression. This too shall pass.

You're not alone. Many of us have had overwhelming emotions in the weeks after surgery. I know I did. I was irritable, angry, tired, moody, tearful. Your body is going through something tremendous. You've made huge changes in your life this year in addition to WLS. I found that after surgery I couldn't turn to food to Celebrate, ease my boredom, ease anxiety, etc. and that did create some additional anxiety for me. I also felt a little overwhelmed. What I've done is walk. I literally walk off my anxiety. Do I enjoy walking? No, it's hard carrying around this weight and it's HOT. But, it truly has helped me. I saw a therapist a couple of years ago who truly did help me change my life. Medications are your choice of course, but talking to a professional is a good idea in my opinion. And remember, you're not alone! I've seen from posts on here, I even made one myself, that many many of us feel similar to how you're feeling.
