    Low Testosterone

My testosterone was recently tested by my PCP and it was found to be low. I have to be tested one more time before they decide if it needs to be treated but due to sexual issues and overall fatigue, she thought it would be worth a shot. I was reading up online and apparently this surgery (bypass) or any number of factors related can cause Low T. I think I've been dealing with it for a while but has anyone here dealt with it pre or post surgery? If you were treated after testing, how did you feel?
  2. Quest and One are my go-tos. One has a maple glazed donut flavor that is really good and they are soft so they go down pretty easily. I like the Premier Protein too but they are higher in calories so I usually eat about half when I have one.

    Is Watermelon ok to eat?

My wife is 4 weeks out and she loves watermelon. It hasn't hurt her yet. It's mostly water so I think it would help towards the fluid goal too.
  4. I know some anti-depressants cause weight gain, not all but some. Has anyone taken their anti-depressants after surgery and fight to lose weight because of the meds or are things different after surgery? I take Effexor, which isn't known for weight gain but I was just curious if that's something anyone here had to worry about.
  5. She’s doing better each day. Just moved to purées and getting more water in. Im really proud of her.
  6. My wife recently had her surgery (I had mine in April) and she’s not feeling so hot. I know things fall into place and you start feeling better over time but she’s become depressed because of the constant nausea and being unable to comfortably drink. She said it feels like her drinks are getting stuck on the way down and her stomach bubbles when she does get it down. She’s tried ice chips and eats popsicles which works decently but she says she can’t quench her thirst because it’s hard for her to drink. She goes back to work Tuesday and I want to help her feel better. Any tips no matter how big or small? Thanks.

    Takis/Spicy Food

I tolerate spicy very well. In fact, maybe better than I used to. I always use hot peppers, hot sauce, anything spicy.
  8. Sure do. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnfmPl8TAl49Y3YRkli27fQ
  9. She actually started hot tea yesterday and she's doing pretty well so I'm happy about that.
  10. I'm at 299.8 and still have a long way to go but I'm thrilled to be under 300. I started at 369 (at the beginning of my 6 month program in September) and was at 347 the day I had surgery. Just wanted to share my happiness.

    Post surgery depression?

I definitely hit a bout of depression after surgery. It’s such and adjustment and I feel partly that there is so much build up and excitement leading up, the it eventually settles and also your body adjusting too. I was suffering from mental illness anyway but things have been getting better. Don’t rule out meds. Maybe give it some time but if you need help, maybe look into it.

    April Bypass Updates?!

Hello. Mine was 4/2. I started off at 369 last September at my first weigh in. I weigh 300.4 now. I’m not 100% on what exactly I weighed at the beginning of surgery. I’ll have to ask. Overall I feel great. Went down 2 pant sizes and 1-2 shirt sizes and my confidence is up.
  15. Yep me too. I use the BBQ sauce too and a bunch of other things.
  16. For the past couple of weeks everything has been good. Starting on solid food initially I had some things I couldn't eat, mostly fish and chicken that was a little dry but I've had good luck. Admittedly I'm not introducing a whole lot of new foods at once but what I am eating I'm tolerating.
  17. I didn't have anything too specific. Comfy clothes, a drink nearby all of the time and if you have it, support at home.
  18. I wouldn't worry too much about the weight gain. Even at 2 months out I'll fluctuate 1-3 pounds either way throughout the week. It's likely water retention and it will level itself out. 500 calories doesn't seem like a lot. My nutritionist advised to focus on proteins first and foremost. On my 2nd follow up appointment later this month they are going to give me a template on calories, carbs, etc. Just stick to the foods you can eat, try to get the 60-80 grams of protein and try to make sure it's quality protein too. You're doing fine. I worry a lot too but it you are doing what your doctor said, you will be ok.
  19. I'm a big fan of all kinds of nuts, especially peanuts. Would you consider those fairly healthy? I know they have a lot of protein but are higher in fat and sodium but those are two things I'm not directly focused on. I want to buy a canister of Flamin' Hot Peanuts and was curious to know if any of you would do the same?
  20. This came to mind after I had a terrible experience with tuna at work today. It was the Starkist pouches. I’ve had one before but this pouch was a bit dryer and it did not settle well at all. My supervisor had to give me some time to recoup. I also had an absolutely awful experience with salmon. Never again will I go near what was one of my favorite foods. White meat chicken is a no go too.
  21. I had my surgery on 4/2 and I've lost around 40 pounds. I'm happy with it but I did think it would come off faster. I've hit a stall that's lasted a little over a week and doing some things different in order to jump start things.
  22. I worry about everything. My nut has only given me a protein goal no calorie goal until my next post-op appointment on 6/22. I’m trying to reach that 60-80 protein goal but I feel like with that I’m getting too many calories. Today I had 920 calories, yesterday 850. I don’t eat anything I’m not supposed to but the weight just isn’t coming off like I want to. I’m 7 weeks out, what was your carb/calorie goal at that point?

    Smoothie King??

There’s one around but I’ve never been. I checked out the menu and some stuff looks good but I’m afraid of the sugar. I’ll probably try them further out.
