Hmmm... not everyone that gets the bypass loose their ability for sweet as I️ have read and watch. But I️ also chose that one cuz of my family history with diabetes and high blood pressure, plus a higher chance of more weight lost.

I'm just starting my journey too. Had my first surgeon visit on 10/13 and have the abdominal ultrasound and first nutrition appointment coming up on Monday. Pulmonary appointment on Tuesday. February upper endoscopy and a March cardiologist appointment. Because of my insurance the process takes 7 months (7 nutritionist visits). I also wonder why the the OP had such a dragged out process. Wishing you both the best on your journeys

    Hi guys,
I'm from LA and sinceeee the Dodgers are in the world series, I wanted to support my team but still dress up for Halloween...
I decided to rock some boy shorts. I WOULD HAVE NEVER worn these before surgery. I was so insecure and in hiding. I developed social anxiety and never wanted to go anywhere or do anything. But I've lost 42 lbs and feeling confident. Yes, I have stretch marks, cellulite and fat, but why does that mean I should hide myself or not get to wear what "skinny" women wear?
So I put on booty shorts and didn't care who looked, who judged, I WAS HAPPY. 185 lbs and I am loving myself. oh and GOOOOO DODGERSSSSSS!

FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR HALLOWEEN PICS TOO!

Wear whatever makes you feel good even after Halloween. You look great.

Thank goodness we don't wear burkas. Still cracks me up that the professional female golfers are told to cover up. I think we better start complaining about all the men wearing tight pants playing football.
On second thought, I would never complain about men in tight clothing...I like the eye candy.

ALFxRNY got a reaction from comtngirl in Gastric Bypass vs Sleeve...how did you decide?
I am also in the beginning stages and though I originally was going to opt for the sleeve, I started leaning towards the bypass. After my consultation with the surgeon I've decided on the bypass. I have a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure (I don't have either of these ailments) and after telling my surgeon about my appetite (I don't eat as often as I should) he declared my problem a metabolism problems and said it could be fixed by bypass but not sleeve. The biggest concern I keep hearing about the sleeve is the risk of developing GERD. The biggest complaint about bypass that I've heard is the vitamins and potential Hair loss from lack of vitamins. All you can do is research. I wish you the best of luck on your journey

Had my surgery at 11 something this morning. Successful. The pain not too bad. No nausea, vomiting or dry heaving, PRAISE GOD! A little hard to breath, but all in all I'm doing well.

The Bariatric Coordinator did most of the talking because the surgeon ran late. He was very apologetic and answered every question thrown at him. Really nice guy and the people at the seminar had similar concerns. I enjoyed it and the fashion show video they showed us of the Bariatric success stories

Have a good time at the seminar! No need to be nervous.. the doctor (or someone) will do all the talking...

The nerves definitely died by the time I walked through the door. It was very informative and I am glad that I went. Now to make the decision about which surgery would be right for me. Excited but also overwhelmed (in a good way)

So I've decided to start the process of looking into getting the vsg surgery. I've been doing my research, even joined this site to read the different experiences. Its after 1am (eastern time) and later tonight I am attending a Bariatric seminar. I have no idea why I am so nervous but I am. I'm going to the seminar solo which is doing nothing for the jitters. Have no idea why I am so nervous about it. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a nice night. Sorry for the long winded nerves post. Just had to say it.

I think walking through the door of the seminar was the hardest thing I've ever done. (I'm a lawyer, I try cases for a living - really - that walk through that door was harder than anything I've ever done professionally or personally.) I think, for me, the nerves were from finally admitting I could not win this battle with obesity on my own and needed help. I'm the one people come to for help - I don't ask for help. I was admitting that I was weak, and vulnerable and broken.
And it was the best thing I ever did (other than marrying my husband and having my two daughters). I understand your nerves. Go, listen. Ask questions. Take time to think this through. But I have never regretted my decision to walk through those doors, no matter how scared I was at the moment.
    You've got this.
