WaywardMama got a reaction from The New Me 2018 in Well, WAS going to have surgery Thursday.
Ok sorry for leaving you all hanging. I do not have cancer, that dr was being an arse. I went to a Hematolgoist and my Iron just was super low. I had an infusion and was great. I didn’t get my surgery right away since I had to give my body time to recover from the infusion and then my son has brought home every germ imaginable Lol. So after I’m well from this flu I’ll be going in. Again. Apologies about running off for awhile. That dr had me a mess.

WaywardMama reacted to Jenae Journey in What's normal weight loss after gastric sleeve surgery
I weighed 297 at my pre- surgery appointment on October 2,2017. My gastric sleeve surgery was on October 17,2017. I only did a liquid diet for two days prior to surgery. I weighed 287 the day of surgery. Today, ( January 16,2018) I currently weigh 228 pounds. I've officially lost 69 pounds in less than 3 months. Is that normal ? I'm female, 42 years old, and 5"6.
I'm happy with the weight loss, but curious to know what other people have experienced after having the gastric sleeve surgery.

Please note I have a ton of energy...take my Vitamins faithfully, I struggle with getting all my required Protein intake at times and my appetite has decreased tremendously since surgery . But at the end of the day .... the weight is really melting off me. I went from wearing a size 2xl / 3xl down to a medium. The mediums fit snug, but it's a blessing to be able to fit a medium in less than 3 months after surgery.
I have completely phased out of Lane Bryant clothes and can now fit cute clothes from Victoria Secret .
Please share your weight lose experiences after the gastric sleeve surgery, I'd love to hear about your weight loss journey.

    Hi Guys,
So today marks my 5th day having the surgery!
I was really scared going into the hospital at 5:00AM chanting to myself “I can do this” over and over.
It all started great they took a urine sample and told me to change into a hospital gown, everything after that went by really fast I was in the operating room by 7:00AM.
I remember waking up in the recovery room in pain. But I expected that and soon after they gave me pain meds I was fine.
I stayed in the hospital over night and the next day I was allowed to go home with a full bag of medications.
Today, I can eat 3 purée meals a day ya me! Also my life consists of taking small sips of Water ever minute.
I still have sharp pains near my incision wounds every time I move, and it’s really hard for me to bend down to pick up something off the floor But, i’m getting through it everyday it gets easier.
    Hope this helps!
    AJ

I want to earnestly thank everyone of you from the bottom of my heart for being so receptive, and so kind in your responses. I read them all. And I am so grateful if in some small way my story helps you to claim the life you truly deserve. Aliveness has become my primary value. I am pursuing it with all my primal might. LOL

When I was preparing to have my sleeve surgery, I spent a lot of time on this forum. I found most of the people here to be very helpful. Even though there's every kind of personality here, we all have one thing in common: we wanted to lose weight and be healthier.
Approaching any surgery is scary. There are real risks, and real rewards when all goes well.
I have struggled with weight my whole life. Total sugar junkie. Used food to replace every unmet need I had, to repress every emotion for which I was unprepared to deal.
I gained and lost hundreds of pounds over the course of my life. Hundreds.
When my husband died eight years ago it broke me. I shattered, and it took me almost a decade to put myself back together. During that time, I lost everything: my beloved, my home, my income, even my sense of self. And I spent the next eight years eating to fill this giant empty void inside my being where someone who I thought of as the love of my life used to be.
I ballooned up bigger than I had ever been, surpassing my previous high weight and moving into the 320s.
I avoided social situations, and only left the house when necessary. I was afraid I would have to ask for a stronger chair when invited to sit down for dinner at somebody's home. I was afraid that I would need to sit down every 20 or 30 steps during a leisurely stroll through the mall with a friend. My body ached; sometimes the pain was so bad that I could scarcely move-even sitting still was painful.
    Life had become extremely small.
Deciding to get the surgery was surprisingly easy, but getting through the approval process and going through with the surgery summoned up terror in me that had been there since my first surgery when I was three years old.
I thought it would be a miracle if I were able to get the surgery, simply because my trauma was so severe for so many years that it seemed like an impossible feat to put myself in the hands of medical professionals, who I have never trusted all my life.
With lots of support from my mother, my sister who had already had the surgery, and my therapist, I was able to get the sleeve.
    And it changed my life!
I also decided that I was going to make up for lost time now that I was going to be able to physically get around again. I sold all my stuff, ditched my apartment, bought an RV and moved in! And it's wonderful! I could not have fit in here, nor could I do the things necessary when living in an RV, at my previous weight.
This surgery has allowed me an opportunity for a whole new lease on life. I am officially one year postop, and I am down about 130 pounds, with another 30 to go. It's amazing the difference a single year can make!
If you know that this is right for you, and the only thing giving you pause is fear that is not coming from your true intuition: there are many people on these forums who feel that this surgery has saved our lives.
I am one of those people. Here is a before and present a photo of me, in a year, this could be you!

Hi, all- I am one week out today from my sleeve last week and just want to send my support to everyone who is still waiting. I am feeling terrific today- really good. The first few days were hard (I had lots of nausea) but quickly got much much better. I was pretty terrified of this surgery before I had it, but now I am already grateful. Down 24 pounds since preop diet, which I think is pretty great! Also just feeling content with the decision now that it’s done- I keep feeling surprised that I still feel like myself- I don’t know what I thought was going to happen, but I’m so relieved that I feel pretty normal by this point, and the only difference is being a tiny bit sore and having to take a half an hour to eat a Greek yogurt Getting all liquids and Protein in, and feeling so much better. Just wanted to send reassurance to any people who like me were absolutely scared out of their minds. All will be well!

What a complete douchebag! Not only is that rude but I'm sure there some unwritten law against this somewhere. I would change my tone with your pcps office and report him to his board! I'm so sorry you're going through this and I hope you find a good replacement soon!

Psych just asks about your home situation as it relates to accomplishing the sleeve objectives, your childhood, your work, relationship with food, alcohol, etc as it relates to the sleeve. As long as you answer that you are on medication and go to counseling and are not suicidal, not being abused, not an active alcoholic, do not have eating disorders it should be fine....
If you do have issues that need addressing - they will schedule sessions to work through them.
