August Sleevers-How are you doing??
I wear a foot brace to sleep that keeps my foot flexed all night -stretching the arch- which works wonders for plantar f. I also wear Finn comfort sandals from Germany when I get a problem. Really helps tremendously!

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
I was sleeved 8/21. I lost a lot of weight at the beginning but now pretty slow. 38 pounds total. I was hoping it would be more but I feel great. I'm wearing fitted clothing and feel more in control. I eat small portions but normal food by now. I'm probably eating 800 - 1000 cal a day and exercise everyday (500-700 cal depleted). I do not eat any pasta or rice or crap ( although I'll have a taste of something once in a while). I eat a little Bread- like 1/2 a wrap with chicken once, the crusty part of bread at a restaurant as I wait and nibble). Most days I eat under 50 g of carbs). I have a protein shake mixed with decaf coffee every morning, lite 50 cal Cabot cheese for snack, 3 oz tuna salad or turkey slices for lunch with 3 Melba crackers, another small 4 pm snack and then a protein dinner ( chicken, beef, salmon, ) and a few veggies for dinner. Some days I'm hungrier than others. Sometimes I get really hungry and eat too fast and then eat too much which causes me to have pain and sometimes I throw up a bit as I feel blocked in my throat/ chest. A spoonful of peanut butter helps if I'm starving. I know I'm not perfectly dieting but I also want to feel normal. I'm less depressed and don't feel deprived. I'm fine with losing slowly because I feel normal and happy. I'm losing about 1 - 2 pounds a week at this point. But because I exercise I feel that I'm gaining muscle and toning. I do spin, barre, and lots of walking As soon as I get to 220 I'm going to start jogging again. I love to hear everyone's August progress so keep adding to this feed! I feel like I have partners! And since I only shared this journey with my husband and 3 teenage kids I love the communication, venting, positive goals, milestones, etc! Good luck everyone and keep smiling! SW 289 CW 251 GW. 180

Surgery didn’t work?
I lost quickly the first 3 weeks. Now it's a pound every 4-5 days. I don't care. I feel great and look better. I figure slower is better because maybe my hair won't fall out and my gallbladder will be fine. The scale is going the right way so who cares. Some days I get frustrated because I also eat healthy but don't deprive myself - and exercise. I had 1/2 a chicken wrap at a conference yesterday for lunch as I watched all my skinny friends eat the whole thing, some chips, cookies and pasta salad. I didn't care. I was full and happy. I also noticed they ate a few bites of the unhealthy stuff. Something I could never do before my sleeve. This was the first time in my life I saved 1/2 a sandwhich for later. An accomplishment I think! Just know you are eating way less than before. I have 80 more pounds to lose. But now I can at least shop normal sizes.

3.5 months post op. No weight loss since month 1.5
That sounds very frustrating! I think you should call your dr. Maybe you have a thyroid problem? Try doing a different exercise like spinning or barre. Those are my gotos because I can move my legs fast on a stationary bike in a dark room ( and I can't run) and barre you don't even wear shoes! So they are low impact. Maybe you just need to get your heart rate up a bit rather than walking - if that's what you are doing for exercise. I also think it's ok to treat yourself- just not every day. Know at the beginning of the week what your plan is and enjoy a bite of something good. I hope you get the results you want soon!

Exhausted All. The. Time
I found that after my 4 week post op appt they put me on more vitamins and calcium and iron. Once those kicked In I felt much better. Now with 38 down and daily vitamins I feel great. I think you are early and still recovery. You will feel better soon. You are also getting used to the minimal calories. During plenty of water too- more if you exercise. Hope you feel better soon

I feel like I can eat too much
I was hungry at that stage too but 2-3 oz did fill me somewhat. When I was starving and already ate an hour or so earlier I would have two sugar free popsicles and almost every day I had a heaping tbsp of smooth peanut butter which really hit the spot. PB WAS THE only thing that cut my hunger. Now I can eat everything but (pasta and rice per dr. Orders )in small portions. I eat 6x a day mini meals and stay at about 600-850 cal a day. I keep carbs below 50 and protein at 50-70. But on heavy workout days I need carbs. I crave them. So I could eat a huge granola bar those days. Sometime I eat too fast because I'm starving and then I realize I ate too much and feel sick, burp, hiccup, or throw up a little. So working on eating slower so I can feel my stomach getting full.

Iron pills make me burp and has terrible aftertaste.
I was told not to take iron with calcium nitrate. So since I take CN 3x a day I take iron at night before i go to bed. Problem is the after taste is disgusting and I burp it up something horrible. Anyone else experience this. Is there a better way to get iron in at a time you are not taking calcium? Thanks in advance.

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
I'm allowed 3 crackers with tuna or hummus etc. a day. for a few days I was eating that 2x - 3x a day. Then I wasn't really losing. So yesterday I stopped the crackers totally and lost a pound. Carbs are my enemy. Peanut butter works fine to get my cravings. And for a crunch I feel I need I eat moon cheese from Starbucks. No carbs.

Crackers and chips
I like moon cheese. I get it at Starbucks. It's just crunchy cheese. No carbs.

Calories
That's VERY helpful. I'm only eating 600 or less cal and 50 g carb. I also lost 30 but now weight loss very slow. I'm going to increase cals with protein. Hopefully that will help. Thnx!!

Calories
My program doesn't count calories. Just wondering if I'm on the right track. How many calories should we be eating at 5-10 weeks post op. Also we r told 60 g protein but wasn't given an amount for carbs. We are allowed banana and a few Melba rounds- but that seems to really bring up the carb number and calories. Thanks for your help in advance!
