  1. Congratulations on having your surgery, I hope you're doing well.
  2. Unfortunately, I cannot find a secondary insurance that will cover surgery and my primary insurance lists it as an exclusion, so I have no choice but pay out-of-pocket. The best physicians closest to me (Bowling Green and Toledo, Ohio) want $25k and $22k respectively. I am willing to travel outside of my immediate area even to surrounding states if necessary. For those of you that took the self-pay route, how much was and where did you have surgery? What was your experience like? Thank you all in advance for your input. D.R. Potential Sleever
  3. You may not see the transformation but I can! You look great! Very inspiring! D.R. Potential Sleever

  7. One of the reasons (the biggest) I'm choosing the sleeve over RNY is because I REFUSE to give up coffee and soda. I will cut down on soda and coffee and refrain from them during the healing process, but I will not go the rest of my life without either of them. Lord help me! Don't take my coffee away! 8. My MIL uses Papaya for indigestion, nausea just bout any stomach related issue. She swears by Papaya! DR Potential Sleever
  9. How soon after surgery did you start driving again? DR Potential Sleever
  10. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts/experiences. My PCP is not keen on it either. She feels that the 150+ pounds I need to lose can be done with just diet and exercise. I've been there and done that! I gain it all back plus more! I didn't know that our PCP had to give their approval for surgery. I'm not sure mine will. DR Potential Sleever
  11. Thank you! D.R. Potential Sleever
  12. Is anyone from my area? I'm from NW Ohio and I'm contemplating VSG. I just want to hear from people near me who've had WLS and what surgeon you recommend. I've narrowed it down to Dr. White in Toledo or Dr. Lalor in Bowling Green. DR Potential Sleever
  13. Are there any insurance companies that DON'T require 6 months of dieting prior to surgery? D.R. Potential Sleever
  14. I'm also a bedside nurse and wondering the same thing. Thank you for asking! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. It is an exclusion on my plan and I think it is also on my husband's. I too am looking into secondary insurance but I would have to get an individual plan. Is that what you did? DR Potential Sleever
  16. It is a definite exclusion on my plan, im going to double-check with my husband's employer but if it's an exclusion then it will not be covered no matter what. DR Potential Sleever
  17. I just started trying them pre-op too. So far, I've tried Muscle Milk and Premier and they both have a funny aftertaste to them. I'm gonna keep trying different ones. I hope they all don't have that weird aftertaste to them. DR Potential Sleever

  20. Hi all, I was wondering how long all of you were off work after your surgeries? I work in a hospital and do a lot of heavy lifting. I would like some idea of a timeframe. Thanks. DR Potential Sleever
  21. I'm pretty sure it's excluded from my husbands plan also. All of the plans available to me at work lists WLS as an exclusion. DR Potential Sleever
  22. I forgot to mention, I live in Ohio. DR Potential Sleever
  23. I am considering Gastric Sleeve and my insurance plan at work lists it as an exclusion. I was considering getting an individual plan as a secondary to help with the cost. Are there any individual insurance plans that cover WLS? DR Potential Sleever
  24. Thank you! I'm ready to do this but I want to know that it will be worth it. I KNOW it will be worth it, what I mean is that it will be worth it because I don't have a thyroid. Thanks so very much! And a big CONGRATULATIONS to you on your weight loss! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Has anyone here had a TT and then went and had WLS years later? I'm almost 7 years out from a TT and I'm considering a VSG. Will I be as successful as those who have not had a thyroidectomy? Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
