I have followed a similar pattern and have been bummed about it but yesterday my dear friend took a picture of me holding her new baby, man I didn't even recognize myself. I look way different. My arms are thinning out, as is my face. So I am going to take full body shots at the end of each month. We don't see the changes in ourselves easily. I also just broke a 5 week stall. It will keep happening.

My surgeon told me even if I did nothing else but have the sleeve I would lose another 60 lbs (not that he was encouraging this) and he helped remind me perspective. I lost 1/3 of my predicted loss in 3 months. Thank you for sharing too, I was feeling lost among all these big number looser (weight not personality [emoji4]).

My surgery was on 8/22/17, and I've lost about 46 pounds/21 kg, which seems to be lagging compared to others who have posted here who had surgery last August. The rate of my weight loss slowed down a lot in October and November. However, I have not regained any of the weight lost. So the past week I've refocused on exercise and being more careful about my diet. Hopefully, the loss rate will pick up again.

Lol. It's all good as long as the scale keeps going down! I wish I had a pattern but my losses seem a bit erratic lately. To be fair, I've been totally off plan the last month. At the moment, I'm hiding in my room thinking about the dark chocolate almonds I have in the kitchen. This crazy festive season eating needs to stop!

Personally, if a guy would write me off because I was a little heavy....I wouldn't give him the time of day. I've got no time for shallow asshats. Beauty fades, people get old, if you're not primarily attracted to the heart and mind...the whole relationship has a superficial ick factor that, frankly....feels empty and sort of gross to me. I want more. I deserve more. (And thank God I got more...25 years with a guy who begged for sex nightly when I was 270 and thought I was the sexiest thing on the planet cause he's in love with my smarts and creativity and heart)
Someday, when we're 75 and wrinkled prune people with fat little tummies and scrawny limbs...I know he's still gonna find me hot and be endlessly amused by my company. That matters. That's love.

B-52. ....Welcome back to the community.
My wife's friend had lap-band several years ago. She lost and kept off over 100 pounds, so I would consider that a success. She has had issues with her adjustments though, and has had spells where she couldn't swallow anything. She also had a time where she had no Fluid in her band, and gained some weight as her hunger returned. She is now looking into getting VSG, because she doesn't want to have to keep up with the maintenance any longer. She has also had to change doctors twice as her old doctors no longer service the band.
I do agree that many people bend the rules a bit too far, which can lead to a less than successful outcome. I have known people to disregard the pre-op diet, and have meals the night before surgery. I have also known someone to eat solid food as early as 2 weeks post-op. Luckily, she didn't cause a leak or some other issue, but she definitely could have.
As far as having to answer the same questions over and over......It is less than ideal, but YOUR input is greatly appreciated as you have been there and done that. I CANNOT STRESS HOW INVALUABLE THE INPUT FROM VETERANS IS TO THE COMMUNITY. I wish that people would stay, and I am happy that OutsideMatchInside, Introversion, proudgrammy, shedo82773, Julie Norton, and others have chosen to stick around.
I, for one, have answered several questions several times myself. I don't mind though, as I know that I am blessed to have experienced a little bit of success so far, and I wish that for everyone. I was a youth in crisis counselor in my former life, and I love helping people.
Congratulations on your successful journey. A complete reversal of the surgery is just something you don't hear about every day. Maybe you can start a thread on how you eat 6 years out without the assistance of your band. I would be interested to find out.

I'm Australian too, I had to google how many kg's equal 100 pounds. It sounds good to say 'I've lost 100 pounds'..

I'm about the same as before Christmas. Hovering around 112.5kg (248 pounds). When I don't lose weight for a few days, I panic that I've entered a little stall which is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind losing another 2 or 3 kg (6 pounds), just so that I could say I had lost 100pounds. I'm Australian and use the metric system, but 100 pounds sounds like an awesome milestone. But I WILL get there.

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a bit less alone on this. I know that I need to be realistic about what I can achieve at the moment. I've been so worried that I've started jumping on the scale about 4 times a day! How much damage can be done in a week or month anyway? Once 1st of January arrives, I will be back on the wagon. In the meantime, I'm just trying to do my best.

The Christmas stress is getting to me. I have eaten out so much this month! Multiple Christmas parties so much champagne! It's a strange thing to think about. There's just the four of us having Christmas and my mother is planning a turkey (4kg) and a ham (4.5kg). That's over 2kg (4.5pounds) of meat per person! I literally cannot deal with all the extra treats too. There's chocolate, cheese, chips and dips, baked goods, super huge cooked breakfasts every morning. If it was just one day, e.g. just one meal on Christmas then I could deal but it's like the entire month is like this.
I've lost about 42kg (92 pounds) and I feel like I'm about to gain it all back this week. Ugh. I'm just in a really bad situation. You know, 4 months in, I've tried to have all this control over my food, meal planning and tracking, carefully shopping every Sunday. Now, it seems like it's all beyond my control. There's other people to consider and it's their Christmas too so you don't want to be selfish but I'm very stressed out.

Tat1ana thank you! At my highest I was 216. Surgery day I was 214 and now I'm hovering at 140.
I'm 5 feet tall and very petite with small bones. People around me keep saying "don't lose any more weight, you'll disappear" ....hate when they say that...esp. since they know nothing about the details or the surgery. I went to 138 for few weeks but my body seems to like 140. This was my goal weight anyway so I think I can hang out right here. I'm still curvy! My body is just a smaller version of what it looked like when I was overweight.
My only regret if I have one, is that I lost all my boobs. I was 38DDD, now I'm 34C. The hair shedding was traumatic but my 'fro is still thick and the regrowth is now showing.

LaLaDee reacted to catwoman7 in Only down 22lbs since surgery. Help!
18 lbs in two weeks is a phenomenal rate of loss. Most of us lose 15-25 lbs in the entire first month. You are going to end up on the higher end of that range, if not over. You may be basing your expectations on what you see on shows like "My 600 lb Life". Yes, those people do drop a ton of weight the first month or two, but don't forget, they are starting out at 600+ lbs. For those of us more "normal" obese people, that much of a weight loss isn't at all common.. You will undoubtedly see a few of us who drop 30 lbs the first month, but they are outliers. Your weight loss is right on target - in fact, it's above average.

P.S. I *only* lost 16 lbs the first month (and that's in a month - not two weeks), and I lost over 200 lbs. Your commitment to your program is what makes the difference - not your rate of weight loss. But again, yours is absolutely fine.

I probably wouldn't have started with broccoli and beef. I was warned about broccoli. It has to be very soft cooked, practically mush. Like salads, it's the kind of food that can give you problems. I would be mashing sweet potato or sticking with something like that.
As suggested, try chicken or tuna or a minced meat. I'd eat a beef, chicken or turkey meatball or patty or something like that. Lots of stews and meaty Soups.
Have you got a dietician? If not, I would consider getting a bariatric cookbook because I think it would be helpful.
I also got toddler utensils. I have a "Frozen" themed fork that is tiny. It's a bit silly but it ensures that I could only take small mouthfuls.
I'm four months out and I'm a fast eater. It's not a problem now but I used to be in pain all the time so you need to force yourself to eat slowly. Take a small bite, then set a timer on your phone for 60 seconds and don't even consider another mouthful till then.
This part isn't forever. You will get through it. Good luck!

It's 7:00 am Christmas morning and I'm having a coffee before I head over to my brothers house for some Christmas cheer.
This year my family is doing the traditional thing and having a hot lunch. This isn't the norm in Australia, and to be honest it seems strange. I'm going to miss our usual seafood feast.
After lunch we are off to the beach for a swim which will be fun.
I'm just glad its not going to be too hot today.
Have a great Christmas August Sleever's!

Reading these posts helps a lot. I was sleeved on 8/15 and have lost about 90 lbs and I still want to beat myself up over the tiny scoop of mashed potatoes I had yesterday with ham. Normally my plate would be covered and yet yesterday it was a tiny, maybe 1/4 cup if that. I’ve been baking up a storm, Cookies galore (I’m italian, lots of treats) but have not sampled one thing. Unrealistic? A bit. I’m not going to beat myself up this weekend if I enjoy something. This lifestyle has to be my new reality. I need to own it since I have come so far, but have a LONG away to go still.
We can do it. We have to. But don’t throw away months of progress because of a few days of indulgence. Like someone said, a small “cheat” I’m sure is NOTHING to what you would have had last year. Keep working hard friends! 🎄🎄👍🏼👍🏼

We all are victims to this diet mentality, that if we fall off the wagon, we have failed. I remember binging after failing on weight watchers and south beach and Adkins...the list goes on and on, and then I would hate myself and feel shame and start all over. I am trying SO hard to focus on the positive. Yes, I am off track BUT I am going to Celebrate the fact that I only ate two bites of fudge versus the entire plate. I am trying to celebrate the fact that I did eat a bite of white rice after I ate my Protein so I didn’t fill up on simple carbs. I am trying so hard to have a healthy relationship with food, that I can be successful still and have a bite of a cookie, or even a whole cookie bc it wasn’t the whole plate of Cookies in shame.

We can do this! We are not failures for getting off track. We are winners for learning and teaching ourselves that we can have something that’s not on our plan during this time of year but eating what a normal person would, normal meaning someone that has a healthy relationship with food. I hate the self hate and shaming. I am my own worst enemy and I am trying so hard to focus on winning!
