Bhageerah got a reaction from FluffyChix in Ok , you can all have a laugh at my expense today. As a kid i never cared for PB&
I have always loved PB&J but since surgery I have been absolutely KILLING peanut butter! I keep a jar everywhere, I have some in my book bag, have some at work, I find that when I do start to get hungry that eating a spoonful keeps me going until I am able to find something. They have it at the hospital and when we get busy and I am unable to eat I will eat a small container of it and keep going until I am able to eat or drink a shake.

Bhageerah got a reaction from Das_Doge in Hello i just have by surgery a few days ago (20th nov) and am now home and my biggest
You will be fine, best advice that I can give you is to find a good quality protein drink that has around 30g in 11oz I used premier as well as muscle milk, that way it will be easy to reach your goals for the day. The first few weeks you will be on liquids only and there really should not be any issues unless there is something that goes wrong with the surgery. I as worried about the water as well post surgery, but if you sip and move you should be fine. After about a week I found I was able to drink more than the 2oz in 15 minutes. Don't get me wrong I was not guzzling water but after the swelling was reduced I could drink slightly more than 2 oz which made it a little easier to stay hydrated. If you just focus on drinking and doing what you are supposed to be doing you should be ok!

Bhageerah got a reaction from Gen17 in Im unsure how much weight loss to expect in the first month. I get 30 to 40% over a s
I can tell you one response that quite a few folks as well as various websites will tell you is the typical answer" every VSG case will be different" or some various form of that statement. What I can tell you is from personal experience I have managed to loose 70 pounds in a little over 3 months. That weight includes my pre surgery diet, I am almost to the size I was in college. Staying with the plan and making sure that you are going to the gym are highly important once you get the release to do so. I know for a fact that if I workout more that my weight loss would be far more substantial. If you search posts you will find people that have lost far more than I have as well as far less. But what I do know is that your physical activity is one of the main reasons that you will go above and beyond what you thought you could do.

Bhageerah got a reaction from FluffyChix in 56lbs down and seen my doc and he asked me to try to decrease my Omeprozal as he said
Don't throw in the towel yet, you have come WAY too far to try and turn around now. I see you have lost 56 pounds, that is a great feat, and I know that you're body is feeling better and deep down it feels absolutely AMAZING to fit in clothes that you never thought that you would be able to fit in again! I would go and talk to you're surgeon and ask him if he can reduce the dose of the omeprazole. Tell him how you are feeling and what your PCP said to you and the two of them can come to and educated decision as to the dose that you should maintain. This is a easy fix so please don't go back now! We both have more pounds to loose and quite more life to live at a much reduced weight!

Bhageerah got a reaction from MusicMom1384 in 3 Days out of surgery! Feeling ok.... working on getting my fluids in and walking. Tr
Congratulations! I can eat Jello but it is not my favorite! Colonoscopy prep took care of that issue! I would say that two things that we can eat that I can not stand are the real thick protein shakes that my surgeon sells, yea the two week pre surgery and two week post surgery diet took care of that! The second is the protein chicken soup that they sell, I had a blender bottle slide under a seat and stay there brewing in the car in the wonderful southern heat until I found it after it popped open. I can still smell it! You are doing well and deserve a good pat on the back! Good luck on your journey and I can not wait to hear about you dropping your first 50 pounds!!!

Bhageerah got a reaction from Sleeve amber in Day 1 of pre-op diet. I'm am so excited about the surgery. Wish me good luck!
Good luck, I am sure you are going to kill it! Just take it day by day and try not to think about the rest of the journey too much! I know that if I would have focused on the whole journey at the start I would not have been able to make it! I had to focus day by day, I've done high protein and low carb before but I could still eat meat and green veggies so it wasn't as hard as this. But I say that to say that trust me if this big boy can make it so can you!!! I am sure that you are strong and will absolutely kill it!! Let us know how you do!!

Bhageerah got a reaction from 36Pisces8@ in My surgeon is Dr. Louis Balsama, my insurance Horizon NJ Health So my name is Loren a
I know how you feel, the Dr that I was going through for my surgery got closed down by the health system she worked for, I was a few months away from surgery and had the date set. I ended up going to another Dr and explaining things to them and that is when they started fast tracking everything for me and my stuff moved about as fast as you are going now. Had my first appointment at the end of May and then was qualified before the end of June and they were trying to schedule surgery for July but it depended on my psych eval. She didn't have an appointment until mid June so the earliest that they could get me in was in August. I am not sure what advice I can give you to ask your surgeon but I can tell you to do your research and any questions that you may not ask him can be found on this or other sites or you can just call the office and I'm sure that they will be more than happy to answer any questions. You will fly through the process and look back and not believe how fast it all was!

Bhageerah got a reaction from collins4985 in any pointers OR diet options to drop weight? my surgeons office wont submit to my ins
They have given you sound advice, high protein and low carb will melt the weight right off of you. I have done it several times and each time excess weight melted off, my body may be different than yours but I actually would loose 10lbs easy the first week, granted it was just water weight but that gives you a real example. If you go high protein, low carb and cut out a lot of the fat you should see awesome results quick.

Bhageerah got a reaction from 120Cassy in It's 1am on Sunday September 3rd. Today will be my last day on the pre-op diet with a
You will be ok, I can assure you! You can look at my profile and see when I had mine, and I had to start on my protein shakes only the day prior to surgery. I have to admit that there were a few days in the two weeks prior to surgery that I ended up cheating but it wasn't that bad. The day before I decided that I was going to have "The Last Supper" and went out with family to a local steakhouse and had a meal. It wasn't a meal as big as I would have had prior to the two weeks but it was still a meal! I only had a 6oz steak with sides which in itself is a miracle! I prior to the 14 days I could have absolutely killed a 16oz steak with sides, bread, appetizer, as well as dessert. Trust me you will be fine just work the plan and focus on changing your life for the better! I know you may be nervous about surgery but you will be fine! I was sweating it and now that its over I honestly can't believe that it was that easy! Yes there is pain, yes the two weeks of liquids and protein shakes will almost make you want to kill the poor fool that walks in front of you with some hot and tasty food but you will come out on the other side happier and glad that you made your decision! I am in pants that I have not been able to wear in YEARS and this is just the beginning! I can not wait to see what the future brings! Trust me you will be one happy woman when you get to the same point that I am right now!! (due to the weight loss as well as being less than 12 hours from being able to move onto pureed food! This fat boy is about to do cartwheels!!!)

Bhageerah got a reaction from I AM NOT MY SIZE in Please pray for me. I started my two week pre op liquid diet today...yep, on Labor Da
Well to be honest with you I have not told most of folks at work for the EXACT same reason, I do not want to hear anyones mouth. There are a few other guys that have gained all of their weight back and then some, but I am determined not to gain my weight back. I am willing to "equalize" shall we say at no more than 15-20 pounds but that is not the plan. I am determined to keep this weight off, my family is on the bigger side, and my brother is about 450 and not only can we eat but we can cook as well( dad was a chef) so our love of food is STRONG! Just work the plan and be strong, take it one day at a time and try not to look at it as a whole. That is how I made it, and that is also how I made it through the 2 week post op!

I completely understand how you feel, I currently work as a medic/firefighter I only say this because anyone that has been around a firehouse knows the kind of food that gets cooked there and most of it is absolutely amazing! My 2 week pre surgery diet ABSOLUTELY killed me at times. Trust me you can and will do it! You may end up having to separate yourself at times from your friends and family but think of what the long range results will be. There were days at home post surgery that the wife was cooking some of my favorite meals and the smell killed me so I had to grab the dog and we would hit the road until the food was done and everyone had eaten! I have faith in you that you will be fine, and yes YOU DO HAVE THIS!!!
