expectopatronum got a reaction from FluffyChix in Post surgery question
I found that the sensation of being to chew is what helped me feel satisfied, so you could be lacking that, and so you may just have to tell yourself "it'll get better soon!" Another thing is making sure everything you eat is high in Protein, since protein also can help you feel more satisfied.

expectopatronum got a reaction from Whogoesthere in Skipping pureed
I had my surgery on 8/16 and I pretty much skipped pureed, aside from refried Beans, but since my program allowed soy at this stage I went right to the crumbles and never looked back. I am eating my first bites of chicken today.

For me it seemed more natural. Yes I realize that having 80% of your stomach cut out isn't exactly natural, but I chose the sleeve over GB because I didn't want to basically have my insides replumbed.... the flow of your digestion is the same with just a smaller stomach pouch. I know that the weight loss is slightly slower with VSG than GB but I prefer it that way (most days). I was always afraid of having GB losing to quickly and looking like one of those melting people.

Hi Everyone! I had the sleeve and I am almost 3 weeks post-op. I had surgery on the 17th of August. I am doing good but having difficulty getting in all my liquids. It's been hard trying to get it all in the las couple days. Everything went well during surgery and I also had a hernia repaired. Hope everyone has a good week! My name is Anita.

Just hit 399... first time in 6 years I've been under 400... My HW was 460 on July 1st when I started my pre-op. 61lbs in 7 weeks and change... not too bad. Feeling great.

expectopatronum reacted to leighabelle in Can't drink Protein, HELP!
I'm glad I'm not the only person this happened to! I used to drink one for Breakfast every morning before surgery and now I can't even stand the smell of them.

Pillows are key. You can get special CPAP pillows for side sleepers, or you can use soft pillows to create a space. I have used a CPAP for years and am a side/belly sleeper.

My sleeve surgery was two weeks ago and I can tell you my pain was under control from the moment I woke up. I was sore and moving around was painful, but not intolerable. It got better very quickly and I was off all pain meds by day 4. Communicate with the surgeon if you are really afraid or concerned about pain.
Edit: Realized this is the bypass forum, sorry to inject my off topic experience! Will read better next time.

expectopatronum got a reaction from Jill4329 in August Sleevers-How are you doing??
I'm in the same boat with the Proteins and liquids. I have resorted to drinking milk because at least that's some Protein and it doesn't make me gag! I know it will keep getting better.

Hello! Sleeved 8/16. Pain only the night at the hospital! A lot of gas so gas x and peppermint tea have been invaluable!
I'm having a hard time drinking Protein Shakes, they just sit there... weird... like they sit in my throat, I don't know it's weird. I've been drinking clear Protein by premier, that goes down a little better. Cannot eat Jello, only like 1 spoon and that's it... Water and broth go down ok.
I feel like I want food, I'm not hungry but I want something with flavor, I can't wait for creamed Soups in the next stage.
Good luck all!!!

It's really dependent upon your insurance. The program wants you to learn and put to use the information they provide. You'll want to follow everything they say. This was the best decision I've ever made for myself and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.
I know all the appointments seem over kill, but you'll be glade you went to them. You need to develop the skills and discipline to maintain. WLS is not a permanent fix. You can gain your weight back. Try to start losing weight before your surgery. I wish I lost more prior.
At my first appointment with Dr Kirk on 1-18-16, I weighed in at 299.
My surgery was on May 11th, and surgery weight was 274.
Today, almost 4 months post op, I weigh 218.
Words can't describe how happy I am with this decision. Bailey has a great team and program. Just do everything they say, and watch your life change.

That is very interesting, I wonder why you don't feel what the Sleevers are known to feel. Things that make you go, hmmmm..lol
