I am afraid to eat nuts. What type of nuts did you try first. I know I probably won't try luncheon meat. The thought of the salt content is nauseating.

    True Story:

I can honestly say that I have severed all ties with one of my oldest and dearest friends, Little Debbie snack Cakes. The sight and smell SEVERELY nauseates me. I couldn't believe it when it happened! We were just talking about them and it was like I could taste them !I began to dry heave initially, then splat!I lost my lunch.

You probably need surgery because, although anyone can lose weight without a surgical procedure, it's doubtful you'll ever keep it off for the long term. I'm just being honest here.
Those of us who were once obese have permanently altered biochemistries. In other words, once a person has become badly overweight, his/her body will fight like hell to defend the higher set point if/when weight loss through old-fashioned diet and exercise occurs.
Weight loss surgery is the only durable method that reduces an obese person's weight set point. Once we undergo a bariatric procedure, the body now fights to lose enough weight to get to a lower set point due to favorable neurohormonal alterations.

By the way, I've lost 200+ pounds over the past 2+ decades before having weight loss surgery (lose 30, regain 50, lose 60, regain 90, rinse and repeat) and I'm only in my mid 30s.
I could lose weight just fine prior to surgery, but couldn't keep it off. I was sleeved 2.5 years ago and this is the most weight-stable I've been in my entire life since puberty.

They gave me one of those at the hospital. It helped with the post-op pain. You might want to ask your dr. if you can get one included in your hospital stay.

I didn't need a brace, and neither did any weight loss surgery patients with whom I'm acquainted in real life. I'd save the $35 if I were you.
Nonetheless, your mileage may vary. good luck to you.

I was shocked that I didn't have any extra steps with insurance. Start to finish it took me about four months from first appt to get surgery scheduled (which I just did today)! I know it can be different for different doctors and insurance companies though.

Why couldn't they give gas meds? We can't even take gas x? I had another surgery this year and had lots of gas from it. Gas x helped so much.

I've had extensive issues in the past with depression/anxiety for years and years now. I was very concerned that I wasn't going to get approved. At my eval I was very honest, because I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision for my health. I think the most important think was that I was stable and in a good place with my current anti depression meds. I got the sense they just wanted to make sure I was stable and ready for such a huge change. Just be honest. Don't try to stress.

@SusieQ_RN How are you meeting your Protein goals in a 4 hour window?
I think intermittent fasting is great for learning discipline, but long term I think only 12:12 or 16:8 are sustainable.
Go as long as you can at 20:4 then back it off to something less drastic.
Also the best way to be full and fight hunger is to eat dense protein first, alone then eat the other stuff.

I won't kid you it is a major surgery but life after is pretty much exactly the same as someone who had a gastric by pass. Like I said the surgery is very painful but after about two months you will be ecstatic you did it. It was absolutely the right choice for me. I went through pretty much everything you describe. I was in and out of the ICU and the step down unit. It was a nightmare. Now I feel soooooo much better and feel like I have a life again.

I was the worst with water before, and really struggle now 5 weeks out. You will struggle at first some people as its hard to swollow to much but that improves.
Crystal light, broth, teas, other ways to get liquids in should help you.
I can't help with the malnutition part. But I use an app to remind me about my Vitamins, and i think I will buy a one month pill case to orgonize meds or two weeks.

    Good luck
