  4. I really like this guys video's.

i would add that eating slowly and chewing fully has an effect on how full you feel.

  5. diabetes, high blood pressure and most important to me, sleep apnea. i hadn't slept, real sleep, in years. i fell asleep every time i stopped moving and i had huge gaps in memory and was having problems remembering day to day events. after surgery i slept 16 hrs without cpap machine i have not fell asleep after getting up in the morning since the surgery. this surgery was the best thing to happen to me in the last 20 years. It saved my life
  6. First vacation since 2007

4 days and 3 nights in Vegas and i had such a great time i can hardly believe it.

eating was a pain but i just ignored the fact that i was paying way to much and then throwing most of it away.

no IF those days but back on it today and feeling real good.

I was surprised this morning that i weighed exactly the same today as the morning i left

i was sure i would put a pound or two with how hard it was to eat clean in the casino's

played so much poker this week, man i had a blast.  I played for 13 hours on Thursday and i could hardly get to sleep i was so hyped.

Hope everyone has had a great week and that life is being good to you all.

  7. Post op is all about the mental game. as you have found out if you lose the mental game the WLS will not save you. i wish i could tell you snacks are ok but i don't believe it so i will not say it. if you want to get back to feeling better about your progress snacks have to go. if this is just not possible then only eat what looks exactly like it did when it was grown. Nothing processed. if you pick it up in the store and you cant picture this growing in a field then it is not something you want to eat. anything packaged in a box didn't grow that way and is hurting you. work on healthy ways to de-stress you will win or lose from this day forward based on how you handle the mental aspects of post WLS. i wish you all the best and hope you find that balance.

    Need help from sleeve vets

i have gained and lost the same 2 lbs since Feb. (147-149 up and down weekly) i take it to mean that my body is happy right where it is and my calorie intake is perfect for maintenance. Since i am well below doctors weight goal i am doing nothing about it. If you still need or want more weight loss you will have to change up what you are doing. are you tracking everything you eat. You cant control what you don't measure. adjust your workout to increase resistance training. more muscle equals higher metabolism Are you still eating clean (no sugars no, processed carbs) or have you slipped back toward quick easy food found in the middle of the store. Shop the 3 walls of your store and stay out of the middle where everything is highly processed. No One has every seen a box of anything growing in a field. Keep your food as close as you can to the way it comes out of the field. And finally if you are not losing weight you need to stay away from fruit. Sorry but it is sugar and the very thing animals gorge themselves on to get fat every summer. All of the above is my opinion only and you are free to take it or leave it. What worked for me may not work for you so you will have to find your own path. i wish you luck and don't give up there is a path for you just keep working at it.
  9. Hall says his findings have implications for the diet wars — vegan versus low-carb or low-fat diets. "They all have something in common. ... Proponents of healthy versions of those diets suggest that people cut out ultra-processed foods." He says that this elimination might account for at least part of the success that people have on these diets. Popkin says the take-home message for consumers is, "We should try to eat as much real food as we can. That can be plant food. It can be animal food. It can be beef, pork, chicken, fish or vegetables and fruits. And one has to be very careful once one begins to go into other kinds of food." https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2019/05/16/723693839/its-not-just-salt-sugar-fat-study-finds-ultra-processed-foods-drive-weight-gain?utm_medium=RSS&utm_campaign=science Full study is linked in NPR article

    Frustrating

yep try to relax and let it pass. I know this doesn't sound helpful but you are in a marathon not a sprint. Follow your doctors plan and build those new and improved habits and the weight will come off. In 18 months you will not even remember this week or this stall. I know how focused on the now we get during the early parts of this journey but it is just a small part of the experience you will have during the next 18-24 months. Work to stay positive and upbeat cause this is more a metal battle going forward. good luck

    Broke out in sweat

yes, twice in 18 months. First time was sauce most likely, never figured out second one at all. walked around for 15 or 20 minutes and it all passed but was not fun at all and somewhat scary.
  13. Learn to shop the 3 Walls. The layout of every American grocery store is stamped out in some factory somewhere. 1. Fruits and Veggies 2. Protein (meats) 3. Dairy Stay out of the center of the store. as an added bonus look at the Nutrition label and if it says ADDED sugar put it back 100% of the time.

    Weight Loss Scale

every Saturday Morning first thing after getting up. You are right to avoid the daily weigh in. It can feel great to see those numbers drop but when it slows or stops it can really do a number on your head and so much of what you are doing is Mental

    Non Scale Victories

The last time i saw my surgeon i walked right by him in the hall on the way to the room and when he came in he sat down and turned his monitor around with my file pic on it and said he didn't even recognize my when i passed him. it was a nice feeling but that photo from my first visit will haunt me for the rest of my life.
  16. i slept till 1030 pm after my surgery at 6 am best sleep i'd had in years. spent the rest of the night walking around the hospital nurse's station on my floor. went home at 10 am the day after. Good luck and i hope you have a great recovery
  17. i hit the 100 pound mark at 6 months. It can happen. the more you have to lose the more you can drop in the first months. no matter if it takes you 6-9 or 18-24 months the only thing that will count is can you maintain the new life you are building in all the years ahead. this is a marathon not a sprint. Think lifetime
  18. i was scheduled for by-pass and surgeon was not comfortable with my choice due to issues i have with circulation below the knees. He suggested i switch to sleeve because it doesn't have the absorption issues, should i have to use blood thinners. The sleeve worked very well for me so it turned out to be a great move on his part and i am very thankful.
  19. that i would never have warm hands again. my hands are so cold all the time. It stopped being funny about 6 months ago and now is just one of those things i learn to live with. going from the guy that wore shorts and tee shirts in the winter to thermals, tee shirts with long sleeve shirt over that and a sweat shirt to top it off. Has taken some getting used to.
  20. put me firmly on Team "No Snack" seems a little to much like the behavior i am trying to unlearn
  21. My goal changed on a regular basis as i hit one milestone after another. My second to last goal was to get under 159 for the bmi of "normal" My current and last goal is to maintain my weight for the rest of my life, so yea this one i hope will take a very long time to finish
  22. clear liquids 48 hours before and that was for the surgery itself not for any diet
